I used a command in Terminal (can't remember what it was - I found it on these forums) to move the tabs in Safari 4 back to where they've been in previous versions. But I've decided I want to try the tabs on top for a while. How do I do that? I thought uninstalling and reinstalling Safari would be enough, but it wasn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a research on apple boards and on this site, but while I see many people over the last couple years having the same problem, I don't see any solutions. All of the sudden, last night I discovered that my white late 2009 macbook mousepad stopped reacting to taps (as right and left clicks). The external mouse connected to the macbook operates properly I can track all over the mousepad, including the areas which previously reacted to tap-to-click (the bottom left and right side of the mousepad) when i double-tap the mousepad operates (as left button of the mouse) Singe tap in any area of mousepad does not do anything There is no feeling of a click when I press on areas which previously reacted to tapping, but for the life of me, because I have several computers, I don't remember if it supposed to click. So I wonder if it is a mechanical or a software problem. If it was a mechanical problem, how come the tracking is fine, and double-tap works?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I have a macbook pro 2.66 ghz, purchased in august 2009, and recently i have been experiencing the trackpad missing a couple taps when i try to click on something. i sometimes restart it and uncheck and recheck the tap to click in settings, but it eventually does the same thing.

Is there anyway I can override the notice?? and if anyone has experienced the same thing, what did u do to fix it? Since it happens every now and then, i feel like if i were to take it to the genius bar they would just laugh at me...

All my folders had organized sub-folders containing hundreds of links before I downloaded Safari 4.0.3, with the viewable page version of bookmarks only the few "loose" pages can be seen. Where did all my original (subfolder filled) bookmarks go? Can I get them back?
In Safari 4.1.2 I acidently turned Caret browsing on. Before I could just use my arrowkeys to scroll through a page, but now I am suddenly Caret browsing. I checked google, I searched this forum for Caret, but nowhere on the internet, I can find a way to go back to 'normal' browsing. Does anybody know how to switch back?

I swear I am not crazy but at random times when surfing I will be taken back to the previous page even though my hand wasn't even on the mouse.
My iMac is networked via ethernet.
My MBAir is networked via wireless.
I move files back and forth between the two.
Is there an advantage to using a Thunderbolt cable between the two?

I moved my Mac HD's private folder to the trash not knowing that it stores thousands of crucial UNIX folders (one of which that stores the admin password). I haven't yet trashed it, but I can't move it back to its original location because when I try to do that Leopard asks for the admin password but the password doesn't exist anymore because it's been moved to the trash. Is there anyway I can remove the private folder from the Trash and put it back? Maybe some kind of Terminal command?
View 3 Replies View Relatedso, i messed up trying to move iphoto to an external hard drive, after some help the ex hd is wiped clean just like new and i have managed to ensure my photos are stil on my imac, hoorah! but in the process i disconnected iphoto from the application, but i got them back together again, so iphoto is in finder like new. only now i would like it back in the dock where it belongs. i am sure i knew how to do this once but have since forgotten. part two of my question is that iphoto now has no backups for browsing on time machine.

I moved my documents folder to my desktop and it disappeared and then i found another folder for my documents and moved it to my dock. And then a icon for my documents ended up on my desktop. When I delete the documents folder on my desktop the format for all my .rar files change to .vlc format. And if I keep the documents on my desktop the files are alright and I'm still able to use it. I tried changing the type of format but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I can do to delete the documents folder off of my desktop and keep the format the same??

I don't dare do anything until I get some proper advice. Can I just drag it back to my home folder and clear the trash?

I have managed to install virtualbox on my mba 11.6 with win 7 as the guest.
1. The only way I can move from win 7 back to osx is to hold esc and drag the cursor down through the bottom of the win 7 window. Is this how its supposed to work?
2. I have set up a shared folder on osx and set it up on virtualbox but cannot mount it as instructed through the command menu.
3. Virtualbox doesn't recognise my pen drive but osx does.
4. Would it be advantageous to use win 7 lite as I only have 160 hd?

i am considering running a Raid 0 configuration on my Powermac 2x300gb drives. Right now i have duplicated everything onto a 250gb drive and have successfully booted with this drive. Does anybody know what steps i need to talk to Raid the two 300gb drives and move everything back onto them?

If you want to do modify or upgrade a Macbook you Should first back up your music, documents, photos etc to an external hard drive. That much I did know. And lucky for me because a few later I spilt wine on the keyboard. (Computers are not wine oriented). Lucky for me it was saved by a Mac expert. The iTunes library which also includes non-Apple purchases is sitting in an external LaCie 1tb Rugged external hard drive. And what I want to do is transfer/import the iTune library Back into the Macbook. Sure it probably sounds easy to a vetran computer person or even to someone who grew up with computers but to me it's like speaking Cantonese.

so i installed windows 7 on bootcamp, i noticed that the keyboard backlight keys to adjust the keyboard backlight arent working. then i switched over to the mac os, and it also stopped working there!
whenever i press the keys, the transparent box shows up but the bars do not move, it is currently off, and it also has that crossed out circle symbol.
[URL] ctrlSwitcher is nice but having to press ctrl with a number with one hand is uncomfortable. Is there another software that is similar but offers CMD key combination instead of the CTRL? I asked this on here [URL]Â but nobody found an answer to it.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a 2009 13 inch MBP with 4G of RAM. Its loaded with the current version of Snow Leopard, version 5.1.5 of Safari and version 4.5 0f the Mail App. The screen of the MBP freezes up 3 - 4 times per day. Ninety percent of the time Safari is open when this happens (some of the time, the Mail App is open as well. The remainder of the time I may have another browser open, but the Mail app is open. I can move the cursor around the screen and "force quit" any open applications except Mail and Safari when this happens. The icons for Safari and the Mail App in my Dock turn grey if I click on them. Otherwise the spinning pizza wheel shows up. I have to use the power button to turn off and restart the machine.
I have tried resetting the PRAM. I also got a couple of error messages concerning Hazel (v3.1.1) via Growl on one occasion. Simply stated that there was an error when Hazel started to run, checking .docx files for Music and video. (Hazel runs from startup and I have rules set up to remove partial and duplicate downloads and clear all Trash files within a set period). I uninstalled Hazel, but the freezing still occurs. The apps I have running most of the day are Mail, a browser, Omnifocus, Preview and either Pages or Word in Office for Mac 2011. I back up a couple of times a day using Time Machine and every couple of days update a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

Several weeks ago I noticed an odd bit of behavior from Safari. If I click the back button (or hot-key back one page), and then move the pointer using my trackpad, the displayed page reloads. It doesn't reload the page if I use two fingers to drag the page up or down, it only does it if I touch the pad with one finger.Â
I have shut off all my extensions, so what could be causing this?
