View 1 RepliesI was reading about Safari 5 (which I am using now) and I heard it has got location services, but I've never had a website that utilities this facility.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard.
Note: I do not want to change external hard drives, but I want to change the LOCATION of my external and HOW the external is connected to my Macbook.
I have been running Time Machine, backing up to my WD 1TB Passport external drive via USB cable. I would like to lose the "umbilical cord" and connect wirelessly to the external via my (newest model) Airport Extreme base station. I want to do this without losing my previous backups.
When I connect via the AE, TimeMachine gives me the choice to backup to this drive but it starts from scratch, making a whole new backup.
When I click to "Enter Time Machine" it gives me the choice to "use previous disk" and when I click to "use selected disk" as in my screenshot, it allows me to peruse the old backups, I just am not able to continue backing up to that backup.
I would like to backup via the AE, but then also have the choice to remove it and connect directly via USB on occasion and continue the same Time Machine.
Is there any way to do this, or is this wishful thinking?
so I know it is possible to move a users home folder which includes the dekstop. But would it be possible to only move the desktop to another drive? If so, how would you do that?

Is their a .plist I can edit or something so that Software Update will recognize my iWork install and let me update?

How do I move my bookmarks from my PC to my MBP? I am running Safari on my PC and I can't find an option to export bookmarks.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt times I would like to gather all files of a certain extension (aif or jpg or xlsx or¦) in one location. By adding the extension parameter to the finder's FIND command, I can easily see them all, but that's only the first half. How do I now move, or copy them all into a single folder, say, on the desktop?

I want to move the location of my iTunes library music files. At present they are all on my time machine . I want to move them all to my imac. Can I do that and keep all my playlists and play counts?
its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive
how can I move the songs so I can re-open iTunes and the playlists (with plays in the 100s) find the song in the new place?
For some reason I can't figure out how to make Safari take up the whole screen and be behind the dock. iTunes will do this but safari will not. I've looked through all the settings and can't find anything... Just wondering if maybe there is a mod or something I can download to fix this.
View 11 Replies View RelatedOk, so I love the ability to move a tab to its own separate window in Safari, but is there a way to move a window back into a tab? If not, this would be a nice little addition to the next version of Safari.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI used a command in Terminal (can't remember what it was - I found it on these forums) to move the tabs in Safari 4 back to where they've been in previous versions. But I've decided I want to try the tabs on top for a while. How do I do that? I thought uninstalling and reinstalling Safari would be enough, but it wasn't.

Safari, Safari History Location?
I'm trying to disable Location Services in Safari to prevent those irritating popups that tell me the web site wants to use my location. I'd prefer NOT to turn off Location Services entirely (keeping Find My Mac).Â
In Security & Privacy>Privacy, Safari is unchecked under Enable Llocation Services.Â
From what I've read, there is supposed to be a Safari-specific option, in Safari's Prefences>Privacy "Access to location services" but, somehow, Safari 5.1.7 on my Mac doesn't seem to have that option:
I'm connecting via Ethernet, not wifi, though toggling the latter on doesn't seem to effect the options (from what I understood, the location data is based on wifi mapping).Â

Since the last upgrade I seem to have a problem changing the download location. Safari seems not to accept locations outside the home folder even with the same permissions (drwx------) and no log entries are generated. I've also tried 0777 with no success. Also, I've tried to create links to the external directory but it still defaults back to the home directory. I had some success with Automator - Finder move - but it gives me a 'disk full' error when downloading.

MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.5 date and time set automatically to use a network time server (domain controller). After a few weeks of the end-user utilitizing it on their home network, the time reverts back to January 6, 2012. How can I set a secondary location if the first location is unreachable?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI moved my iTunes media folder to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMac's hard drive. The new one is located on a hard drive attached to my Airport Express. Since then, I keep getting messages stating that certain items weren't copied to my iPhone because the originals couldn't be found. When I check, the iTunes media folder has reverted to the location on my iMac's main hard drive.Â
How can I prevent this? At best this is annoying, but it also is using up hard drive space unnecessarily. Is this behavior avoidable, or is it something that goes with the territory when you move your media folder to an external hard drive?

Is the there a way to force iTunes to store my mobile applications on my external drive automatically?I have my library set to an external and all my music, movies, etc goes onto the proper location except the mobile applications. I know I can use the consolidate library command, which will move the apps to the external. But as soon as I d/l another app iTunes begins saving them to the default folder again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening recently. I get an error message from Adium, saying I have been "Signed on at another location". First thing I do is change my password. 2 days later, i get the same message!! I have again changed my password. The strength of the passwords are "strong". My original one was "Strong" in the first place. I honestly hope this is a bug or something, because I don't want a hacker on my hands...I haven't signed on MSN on anyone else's computer recently either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs far as i can make out, all the photos I see in iPhoto are copies of the original. But where are the original ones, then?
I usually connect my camera to the mac and the photos get copied form there, I know this much.
When I use Finder to try to locate a photo, it is iPhoto that opens it - I don't seem to have a choice. I might want to open the original photo in another program, for example.
I have a strange problem at least to me. Recently I moved my iTunes library to an external drive and all went fine. I used the consolidation tool to achieve the task and all went just fine. Since doing this every time I open iTunes the location of the library has changed back to my local drive.
For example...
I set it to: volumesmediaiTunes Media
and it is automatically changed to: usersmemusiciTunesiTunes Media
I just bought a macbook and wanted to copy over all my firefox settings. I found this site http://www.10voltmedia.com/blog/2008...ith-mozbackup/ which explains how. I did most of the steps like using mozbackup and making it's exported files into a zip but when it came to replacing the folder they said on the mac I can't seem to find a firefox folder. Even the mozilla folder I found doesn't have anything in. I tried finding it by doing a search for the addons I have installed into firefox thinking I might locate it that way but no luck. Another webpage said I could find the location of the folder through fiefox itself but the way it told me also didn't seem to exist on my mac. How can I find my firefox folder?

Looks like in syncing my iPad, it tries to place the backup of my device in MobileSyncBackup on my C boot drive, which is an SSD without space, even when my iTunes install and iTunes library folder is in my 2 TB D drive.
Is there any way to permanently make iTunes place its backup elsewhere?
