May 1, 2009I have an octocore 2009 Mac Pro with 16G of RAM and it just crawls in iDVD encoding MP4s. CPU usage is very low considering all of the processor cores available. Handbrake, on the other hand, just flies when encoding because it lights up all eight cores. Is there some way to speed up iDVD so its encode performance is more reasonable? At the rate it's going now, it takes around an hour to encode 60 minutes of video.

Jan 16, 2009I just have a question about moving iTunes music to a new computer.
Okay, I'm planning on getting a new iMac in September (It will be my first Mac) and I want to bring over some, but not all, of my iTunes library on my old PC to the Mac. I want to know if, after I move all the music I want to to my new computer, can I continue using the same iTunes account I did on my PC (It's my whole families account), but also get any songs anyone buys on the old computer to the Mac by just logging in? Also, is it possible to send all of the music I buy on the Mac to the PC by using the same account? The reason I want to share music is because my brother and I like a lot of the same music and I don't want to have to keep burning the songs he buys on a disc so I can put them on my Mac.
So my question is, can I use the same account I use on my PC on my Mac? And will any songs that are bought on the PC using the same account as the Mac automatically be on the Mac? I'm sorry if I'm not very clear, I just can't think of any way to explain this better.

Feb 12, 2010I've been looking for an answer to this but am not having any luck.
I currently backup my macbook pro using time machine. I am planning on doing a clean install of snow leopard so I can get rid of all the crap I've downloaded on my machine. haha.
Can I use my old time machine backup without it creating a new database to add to? I'd like to be able to go back in time and get those files from my previous installation while adding my new backups from my clean install.
Is that possible? How do I ensure that when I go to do this it doesn't delete my old backups?

It sounded like "Trash", always cut-off or so. I tried to import it to FCP7, yet no success. Is XDCam going to work or any other method to encode MXF to MOV?

Jun 6, 2009I've tried iDVD for the first time today and have had mixed results.I tried putting some Bugs Bunny cartoons I have as avi files into a Magic iDVD project to make a DVD.
The titles are great, the video quality is super, but there's no sound.Not a peep.They play fine in VLC, but without sound in Quick Time.I know nothing about video editing, so am hoping this is a just a codec issue that is easily rectified given a nudge in the right direction.

Now I want to continue using the backup disk with about 6 months worth of backups on, but it wants to start again saying that there's not enough space for the initial backup. Nov 3, 2007I am having a problem getting my G5 to boot. Half the time when I turn it on I get no chime. The other half, I get the chime but the boot process does not continue. If I leave the computer on the fans begin to progressively get faster and louder after about 5 minutes. I've tried starting with various USB and Firewire components unplugged and have even gone to just a keyboard and mouse. No change. Can I get the computer to boot from an OSX CD? How do I open the tray? etc.
