View 5 Replies View RelatedI finally took plunge and grabbed a new mini. I have it wired directly to my airport and the web browsing is slow on it. For example I will go to engadget.com and it will only load half way and then just stop. I thought maybe my internet was going crazy but my windows desktop connected "right next to it on airport" loads instantly.
It does this on different web sites. I even did the safari reset but its same issue. Any suggestions on what I can do to trouble shoot? I dont want to take this thing back.
I was also wondering if there was a way to Mirror my display but with two different resolutions? I have googled this and cant find a straight answer at least not from anything posted in last couple years....
I have 1900x1200 on my Pc display and I have an HDMI going under house to My 65" Plasma which is 1900x1080
Any software tweaks I can do? This is a permanent setup with the ipad as the remote....
As I continue to buy into the never ending Apple ecosystem I now need a cheapo Mini to run our iTunes library 24/7.
Want to have it run Home Share for our new Apple TV's.
Will a cheap Core Solo work? Need to share out Quicktime files in HD and then music, plus read our Aperture Library.
I'm not familiar with the entire product line so must have Gigabit, don't care if it burns DVD's just so long as it reads them.
I have an Early 2009 Mac Mini with Mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort. And I have two 1080p HDTVs. The Mac Mini is capable of dual display, and I've gotten it to work before, so the issue is not the TV or Mac. And I have tried both Mirroring and No Mirroring.
I got a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (#5311) and a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter (#4852) both from MonoPrice. And for some reason I can't get the Mac Mini to dual display, it's only one or the other.
Before I had a Mini Displayport Male and USB Male AUDIO to HDMI Female Converting Adapter (#5969) and I got video on both HDTVs, but not audio at the same time b/c one was USB and one was TOSLINK.
I'm not sure why I can't get video on both monitors. Any help?
I need to connect my 09' Mac Mini to my Yamaha RX-V2700 receiver which outputs to my Sony XBR HDTV. I know the mini has both mini-dvi to dvi and mini-dp to dvi or hdmi available via adapters. I was thinking to go with option 1 however I was wondering what is your opinions? Is mini-display port better over mini-dvi or are they the same? Audio will be carried over optical toslink.
Option 1:
Using mini-dvi adapter to dvi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.
Option 2:
Using mini-dp adapter to dvi or hdmi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.
Just curious can use both to drive the 24" LED ACD AND another 2nd monitor via mini dvi?? That would be a dream come true!

View 2 Replies View Relatedi just bought a C2D 1.83 2GB 80GB Mac Mini for a bargain and a new 24" Screen (1920 resolution). Working with "Numbers", I noticed that it runs really slow and behaves like it has not enough power. If you mark a couple of cells for instance, there is always a delay until the cells are marked. Ir is really annoying. Could it be because the Intel graphics is too slow to manage this high resolution??? Or is it a software issue? I installed iStat and the utilization of both cores normally doesnt exceed 60-70%. But still 60-70% is a lot for working in numbers, right?? Should I sell the 24" screen and buy a 22" with lower resolution?? Or to try a reinstall of Mac OS?

View 8 Replies View RelatedBy Mac Mini is behaving oddly. It slows down occasionally, with the spinning wheel of "time to make a cup of coffee" appearing frequently.
DiskWarrior and Tech Tool Pro has failed to resolve the issue. Disc utility repair using the original installation disc hasn't helped either.
Using Preferential Treatment, it appears that ./com.apple.SystemLogin.Items.plist is corrupt (Cannot parse a NULL or zero-length data).
If this is relevant, how can I delete/repair it?

So my family and I purchased a mac mini to act as a music server for our whole house system. we then use a ipad, iphone to control it and it works sweet. what i am noticing though is a slower more sluggish mac mini. i am importing a ton of music in and i am saving all music files to a 2 TB g-safe. i have about 57 gb so far on my g safe. now when i start up the mac mini everthing seems fine. its after i start up itunes, things start to go sluggish. is there anything i can do to make things faster? or reconfigure in any way?

I have a 2011 mid range mac mini and love the machine, however I have noticed a few things. First off, it seems to be a bit on the slow side when multitasking. I have the standard 4 gigs of ram installed, but running programs like MS Word and Safari at the same time, the machine seems to struggle a bit. Also I have noticed when doing a lot of file transfers via USB, the fan will kick up to high gear for a few minutes and then drop down. Is there something wrong or is this normal? I'm doing a time machine backup of 120Gigs, have safari open and activity monitor open. Activity monitor states 1.16Gigs free, 792MB wired, 961.4MB active, 1.12GB inactive, 2.84GB used. VM size is 150GB, page ins are 962, outs are 380kb, swap used is 10.5MB. Right now the fan seems to have slowed to a mid range mode of some sort and is not in high gear.

For some reason, I've noticed it's a bit slower than my MBP in opening and saving documents from iwork and office 2008. I made a keynote presentation that came out to 25MB and I tried to export it as a powerpoint file to email to my classmates. It took a long time and a couple times, it had the colorful swirl circling for the longest time. I left my computer for a while and finally it was done. With my MBP, this procedure is done within seconds or at most, a minute. Anyone having this issue? If its an issue, should i fresh reinstall my OS and reinstall the latest backup? The backup i'm using now when i first got this mac mini is from my MBP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a issue where I get the spinning beach ball of death and it lasts for about 20-30 secs, but I get this every 4-5 mins..I have used CleanMyMac to remove all the crap and run all the cleaning and maintence tasks on Onyx to clear the computer up; to be fair it is kept very clean most of the time anyway.I have checked the hard drive and corrected all permissions as well as verifying the drive itself.I have run a Memtest 2 pass on the RAM and had no errors. Both of these were done in single user mode from boot using the Terminal.I am running a 2009 Mac Mini with a 2.6 Core2Duo, 6Ghz RAM, 160GB SSD drive. It is plugged in via the mini display port to an HD Tv and connected through the optical port to an amp for audio. I am using the wireless bluetooth Mac keyboard and Magic Mouse.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best use/purpose for the Mac Mini? My wife's G4 (Granite) Tower is ancient and slow and freezes up frequently so it's time to get another computer. I have a 5 year old MacBook Pro sitting unused after I bought a 2.13GHz MacBook Air . I am contemplating buying a Mac Mini or an 11 inch AirBook. The Macbook Air would give some flexibility to the household by being portable. She does only basic stuff, nothing fancy, so anything will be better than what she's using now. (At some point in the future, I may give my son the Airbook for college and get a new one for me, but that's not what I want to do now.)So my question to the community would be what do you recommend?
1) Reformat and use the 5 year old MacBook Pro (free)
2) Mac Mini? ($599) (I have an external monitor, keyboard and an external Mac Disk Drive so no need to buy them.)
3) MacBookAir 11 inch ($1100)
4) iMac ($1200) (I think this is overkill for her.)
My Mini Mac (early 2006) was working ok till 2 days ago when the boot times went into the 4 minute range with the USB CD printer from primera pluged in. I check the firm ware on both devices and they are current.

My Mac Mini has been running slow since I upgraded to Leopard several months ago. It is not Snow Leopard. My Mac Mini is running software version 10.5.8 and my processor is a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 512 MB RAM. Am I running slow since my Mac Mini is intel? Should I switch it back to Tiger or is there any other suggestions you can make. I have run the disk utility and have run the repair permissions. The computer is especially slow on Safari where it is faster on my MacBook pro.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a brand new Mac Mini 2,26 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 gig RAM, and it's hooked up to my tv with a mini-DVI adapter. Snow Leopard installed. I noticed right away that the screen looks really sluggish, with screen tearing and laggy video performance. Playing videos in Plex for instance there is a lot of screen tear and I had to set the display to 720p to get it decent, and even then it's rough, even on SD videos! So I ran Xbench, and got a remarkable slow score on OpenGL; 43. My MacBook Pro running with the 9400M card got 97.

My trusty G5 dual tower 1.8 is competent, but slow for HD video rendering. Would the new Mini be a significant upgrade for me? I have a great monitor and keyboard already. I can't see much difference between the Mini and standard Imac, beside the slower internal drive. If I use an external firewire drive for capturing, would this no longer be an issue?
