View 1 RepliesI am perfectly happy with my MBA, but I must admit that I like to always have the "latest and greatest". The new MacBooks look great, although I haven't seen one "live" or had the opportunity to get hands on with one yet. If I buy a new MacBook, I give up the form factor, but gain the processor power, features, etc. Also, it will really feel like a new computer because of the different appearance. Since I like the MBA form factor, I was thinking of just upgrading to that. The problem is that it won't even feel like I got a new laptop, because visually it would be identical to the one I have now. In fact, the reduced battery life may not offset the benefit of larger HD and improved graphics. Dying for a new laptop though... what are you other MBA owners thinking?

Okay, I'm planning on getting a new iMac in September (It will be my first Mac) and I want to bring over some, but not all, of my iTunes library on my old PC to the Mac. I want to know if, after I move all the music I want to to my new computer, can I continue using the same iTunes account I did on my PC (It's my whole families account), but also get any songs anyone buys on the old computer to the Mac by just logging in? Also, is it possible to send all of the music I buy on the Mac to the PC by using the same account? The reason I want to share music is because my brother and I like a lot of the same music and I don't want to have to keep burning the songs he buys on a disc so I can put them on my Mac.
So my question is, can I use the same account I use on my PC on my Mac? And will any songs that are bought on the PC using the same account as the Mac automatically be on the Mac? I'm sorry if I'm not very clear, I just can't think of any way to explain this better.
My Lion download stalled during the download and now I can't continue the download. The message I now get is that the Lion download is "waiting". How do I continue the download or start a new Lion OS download?

I currently backup my macbook pro using time machine. I am planning on doing a clean install of snow leopard so I can get rid of all the crap I've downloaded on my machine. haha.
Can I use my old time machine backup without it creating a new database to add to? I'd like to be able to go back in time and get those files from my previous installation while adding my new backups from my clean install.
Is that possible? How do I ensure that when I go to do this it doesn't delete my old backups?
I have a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro and want to have and use the same keystrokes and contextual menu items on both but they are different - on my MacPro I can hold down the control key and easily send out an email with the selected pdf or whatever = no such on my MacbookPro. Is there an easy way to have the same functionality on both machines??

I can't find anybody else having these issues. I installed the Chrome beta a while back, and it's been updating itself since, but I need to finally get extensions working - I need my Adblock (Digg is completely unbearable without it). I read about the method to enable it weeks ago, just install the dev version - agree to the EULA and download. I did that, and overwrote the existing copy of Chrome. I didn't remove any other files. I still can't install extensions using the bookmarklet - it enables the install button, but I receive 'Extensions are not enabled' immediately after the download tries to start. The other thing is, the dev version is supposed to include the bookmark manager. That's also nowhere to be seen. Chrome says I'm running version 4.0.249.30 and that it's up to date. Any ideas? Do I have to completely remove Chrome before installing the dev version (i.e. everything I've built up in my Chrome profile to this point in Application Support)?

The original movie is on the first DVD, and the second disc is all the bonus material. I tried ripping the special features disc in Handbrake, and I only got part of the bonus material, and not the material in particular I wanted. I've looked through all the source titles, and they only show part of the features. How do I get to the features I want using Handbrake?

I switched to a MacBook Pro 3 months ago from using WXP with Outlook 2003.
I need to be able to hold my outgoing mail rather then sending it immediately. In Outlook I could set it to stay in the outbox until I was ready to send it.
I'd also like to have the "capitalize the first word of each sentence" feature that Word edit would do in Outlook.
I am presuming neither of these features are in iMail so my question is: Do I need to buy Outlook for Mac or Office for Mac to get these 2 features?
I have been using the Textmate demo for a few days and I like it's code folding and macros, but I wish it had an auto- autocomplete and tabs. I tried Komodo edit too and loved it's features; however it has the clunkiest Interface of any editor. I have never been a Dreamweaver fan, but if it has macros I will shut up and use it. I think I am, going to email the developer of Textmate later, because it really is a very nice editor, but it is lacking some needed features.

I should be able to just have it automatically find the settings and then I should just be able to get email, right? Wrong. I thought maybe it was because I was also getting the mail popped onto my Blackberry but even when I turn it off, I still can't get a single Yahoo email. I recently added a G-Speed Q RAID array to my MAC PRO to use exclusively for back-up with Time Machine.It worked great.I then decided to also share the external device over hardwire lan with my wife's iMAC so whe could back-up with Time MAchine as well.I then started reading posts that suggested the two Time Machine instances would compete for space on the back-up array and eventually it would fill up a I'd have problems. The solution, everyone said, was to partition the external drive and assign one to each Time Machine back-up.I did this and everything seemed to be working great until the remote client tried to run back-up.
It fails with the "Disk does not support AFP features" error message.Current status, local machine back-up works fine. Remote machine cand find the drive and connect once I provide correct user name and password, but fails once back-up begins.Both machines are running Lion 10.7.4.

First, I am fully aware of the two plug-ins that have both of these features. SafariStand and Glims. I'd prefer not to use SafariStand, and I don't want to use Glims (buggy). I'm not here to debate their merits. The features I want are for Safari's download manager to close automatically, and for all links to automatically open in new tabs.
What I'm wondering is: are there any other plug-ins that offer these features for Safari 4 running Snow Leopard? Are there any tweaks to the system that don't involve plug-ins? As in, are there some terminal commands that can emulate these settings somehow?
Which Apple computers are 64-bit? Is the Macbook? I was looking at the info page for snow leopard and it was talking about 64-bit and I was just wondering if I bought a new MacBook now if I would be able to take advantage of it being 64-bit.

I try to upgrade the application, tell the system to replace the existing application, give it the admin credentials, .. and get the error message that the task cannot be finished, some objects were omitted... Please check Permisions...All Permissions should be ok. I did the permissions check and repair without solving the problem. As Workaround I have to delete the old application and then install the new version... but this is strange and I cannot understand this.
FInally my MacPro+Cinema Display arrived today, yet I have a small question regarding Windows. What is the best Windows operating system to fully take advantage of the MacPro processing power? I really need to be using Windows at least until January/February. The only software I use there is Rhinoceros and Maxwell Render. So I really need that the OS takes fully advantage of the 8 cores of the MacPro, to enhance my rendering speed! Which do you think is best for me, only to use Maxwell Render and Rhinoceros: Windows Vista or Windows XP?! And what version should I search for?

If you do not use it, and don't need to attach a 2nd HD inside, can you not just simply remove it and make your MBP lighter?I looked around for some specs on the internal drive but could not find how much it weighed.
