I had trouble installing the Safari 4 beta a while back but ever since it had been working I have not been able to view java apps, I get the error: "java is not installed or unavailable".
I simply cannot get the JAVA to work right on my intelmac version of Safari. Issue is, some web sites, trading sites, the information just does not display. Is the 1.5 upgrade going to help?
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
So I noticed they're is an update for java today and want the update. It ask me for my password and I type it in and it says invalid. User name is there already when it prompts me. I restarted my mini to see if the keyboard might have been acting weird, but still not working.
I just started getting deadlocks in code that's been running for some time on my mac pro 2nd edition (8 cores, 2 gb ram). This code was using java 6 from Apple previously - with the upgrade to 1.6.0_13, it's now hanging in the middle of its run. This code has been running for quite some time. Before OSX supported java 6 it also ran on java 5 no problem. it just started hanging after this update. Can the java update be uninstalled?
I have 10.5.8 and I think I read that in the latest FF update, Java is disabled and with my version of software, no way to make it work anymore. Is this true? I have an onlime game that I think requires Java to play and I cannot access the game today and am wondering if that is the reason. I could play yesterday, but not today, it hangs when loading. It could be the game site itself, but I got to thinking about Java and did some research and saw that Java is only supported now in 10.6 and higher. If it is a java issue, is there any way to get it back and working with my system? I tried accessing it using Safari, same issue, hangs in same place.
I downloaded this: [URL] to add the "tweaks" menu. After I downloaded it I had some trouble getting it to work. I originally just dragged the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) into where it is supposed to go and that didnt do anything. So then I redownloaded it and dragged the folder itself into it, that didnt do anything. then I got rid of the orignal Menu.nib file and it caused Safari to not even start. After retrying a bunch of times I eventually got it to work. Once I got it to work I clicked on the "view webless ct" tweak (or whatever it said) just to see what it was, and viola, Safari wouldnt load. Everytime I try to open Safari now, I got an error message saying safari needs to quit.
I even reinstalled safari, didnt work. THEN I threw the installation .dmg file in the trash, as well ass safari it self into the trash and emptied it. Then I used firefox and redownloaded Safari 4 from apple.com. After downloading and installing safari 4 again, restarting the computer, it STILL shows the error message. How can I get safari back to work? I really dont like Firefox.
I am on a MacBook Pro and am encountering problems after the last Java upgrade on Lion. My dock will not appear when I rollover - so I have set it to show all of the time. I clicked on my widget icon to use the calculator, and nothing loaded. I was stuck on the screen and had to hard restart.Â

I can't access my homebanking website (it uses Safari). When I try to, the website says I don't have Java Installed (it was working till last week). If I access Java test page, it says Java is working good. If I access my homebanking with Firefox, it runs OK.
I have never installed Java in Lion, I just don't need it, but I noticed in Safari the tick box for 'enable Java' is still ticked, would turning this off disable prompts to install the JRE, or does it not matter? I find it odd that its listed as enabled in Safari even though Lion does not come with Java installed. Any ideas would be appreciated as reducing any attack vector is always a good move, especially at this time.

Im doing this Target coupon thing and it keeps saying "you need to download Java" or something like that. And i have java, the newest version, updated all 3 times apple fought againt that trojan, and it's still not working! Java is enabled and working. Why is this happening?
I'm running OS 10.7.4 on an Intel desktop Mac. I'm using Safari 5.1.7, as well as the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. I have the most recent version of Java. Pop-up blockers are off. The Java plug-in is enabled. When I try to use a particular web page - specifically, Amazon's - in response to various simple commands I get the error message: javascript:void (false); This happens in all three browsers. Needless to say, the important function on the web page that I'm trying to utilize doesn't work when this error message appears.Â
How will disabling the java web plug-in affect my computer performance? The flashback trojan horse virus recently infected my laptop. Apple website suggested disabling the plug-in.
is it me or Facebook.com doesnt works? I click everything, my profile the search button and no action. I dont have any other browser so i cant check. Can someone please check it out, or see if its for everyone.
I've been using Safari 4 on my Leopard machine since it has come out and it's been working great until about 10 minutes ago. I logged into to my gmail account and was greeted by a beautiful white screen I then booted up Firefox and everything worked....Anyone else having issues with Gmail?
Autofill in Safari 4 isn't working for me since switching to Snow Leopard. I've checked the autofill settings and access permission to my Address Book.
I am having issues with Safari Adblock. Running Safari 4.04, Adblock 0.4.0 RC3 in Snow Leopard. Also, running Safari in 32 bit mode. I have been using Safari with Adblock in Snow Leopard since it was released without issue. All of a sudden it just stopped working. Preferences say it is enabled. Restarted Safari, restarted Adblock, restarted the entire PC, checked for updates, and reinstalled Adblock. None of these things worked.
since I updated to Safari 5, the right-click does not work anymore. Not in textareas, not on selected Text or anywhere on a page. It is working when I right-click the Bookmarks on Bookmarks-Bar above the tabs.
Got a hairy one here that I've been working around for ages.....perhaps someone has a real fix for me. If I try to print (or save as a PDF) from a particular web site with THEIR Java "print" button on the web page, Safari crashes. Upon restart of Safari all is well. It stays ok until I re boot/restart the computer. Then the same thing happens. After the first crash of Safari everthing is a-ok. The print function from the Safari menu does NOT crash - it works all the time. sam P.S. Intel box with Safari 4.0.4 and OS X 10.6.2.
I have had Clicktoflash for ages, and recently got the Safari extension to replace the addon. Even more recently, i decided to disable Java, because my browser seemed to still be crashing. Ever since then, i have not seen Safari crash once, we're talking about a month of daily use. I'm curious, has anyone else experienced something similar?
Does anyone know of a way I can disable Java on some sites in Safari, but have it enabled for the rest? I don't see an option natively, but maybe there is a plugin or a plist that can be edited?
The reason is my university uses Blackboard / Vista and every time I log in it asks me if I want to allow it to run. I refuse to do so, and it doesn't have an option to never allow it to run for this site.
Please don't bother posting if you do not know the difference between Java and JavaScript.
Why doesn't Apple discuss what it is going to do with 10.5 (Leopard) other than to say "disable Java?" Why doesnt Apple support its product, i.e., computers running 10.5 still COVERED UNDER APPLE CARE? Why must we disable Java and wait (and pay) for a Leoparad to Snow Leopard upgrade disk to arrive by SnailMail Apple support your products especially when we own over $15,000 of your products. I used to be your biggest fan, suggesting to everyone who would listen that they should "switch over. Why are you ignoring us, still covered
Some semi-Flash-based links do not work in Safari(I'm using 5.0.3) causing me to switch to...pretty much any other browser like Chrome when needed. For example, when playing Whirled by Three Rings, when trying to navigate the non-Flash menus, equipping/"Wearing" avatars or pets and furniture and stuff do not work.
