View 6 Replies View RelatedIn the Mail app, I'm getting a circle with a triangle and an exclamation mark inside it. I can't receive or send my from this (Outlook Express) account. It's a work email account, but it has been working fine until now. I clicked Rebuild from the app menu (trying to fix it!), but that only removed all existing emails in the mailbox.

So anyone having the same trouble with Gmail and Safari?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use Image Capture to get photos off my Canon XSi. Lately, it hasn't been working. Image Capture shows 26 CR2 icons, but won't show their thumbnail previews. It won't download them, and I can't delete them, either. It also won't recognize any new photos I've taken with the camera. The only thing I've done recently that might have caused this is I installed a new scanner (Epson V300).

iTunes LPs have stopped working for me for some reason. It's been like this for months and I haven't found a solution anywhere. When I click on the LP file, nothing happens. Nothing pops up, nada. It's like as if I hadn't clicked on it at all. This is affecting ALL my iTunes LPs. I checked the files in the iTunes media folder and they all seem to be there iTunes just won't open them. I have the latest version of iTunes and I'm using a 2010 iMac 27" running Mac OS X Lion, the latest version.

I had trouble installing the Safari 4 beta a while back but ever since it had been working I have not been able to view java apps, I get the error: "java is not installed or unavailable".
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed they're is an update for java today and want the update. It ask me for my password and I type it in and it says invalid. User name is there already when it prompts me. I restarted my mini to see if the keyboard might have been acting weird, but still not working.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Firefox installed and everything seems to be updated and enabled, but for some reason Java is not working. It works in Safari.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've read several threads where people have been having trouble with this, but nothing has been resolved so far? I've got a 2ghz core duo mac mini running OS 10.6.4. I used to be able to stream digital output from it, but I cant anymore & it's driving me around the bend. I have tried new cables, different combinations of sources of audio, cables, inputs on my AV receiver and everything is in good working order apart from the digital out on my mac.
It will play analogue stereo fine, it will play from the built-in speakers, but it will not play the optical digital stream. As I said before, it used to do this fine, until one day it just stopped working, it kind of 'faded out' and never came back. The light still shines when the toslink cable is plugged in and the output switches to digital in system prefs, but nothing is being received by the AV receiver.
I have shared my internet connection to my PC via ethernet many times (so my PC get the internet connection from a ethernet cable plugged into my MacBook which shares it's connection via AirPort).
Now suddenly it doesn't work, when I plug in the ethernet cable to my MacBook the internet connection dies whenever the ethernet connection starts working... I'm still connected to the wireless network, but can't use internet...
So the connection to internet dies whenever I try to share it to my PC from my Mac... Anybody know how to fix this?
im on a mac pro running 10.5.6 and the search function doesnt seem to be working very well anymore. I am talking about the little search box in the top right corner of a finder window. I type text in and it just doesnt find the files I am looking for. I can browse to them and locate them but search wont find them.
Is there some way i need to be re-indexing my HD from time to time? I would expect this for spotlight but I thought the finder search was different...
I just started getting deadlocks in code that's been running for some time on my mac pro 2nd edition (8 cores, 2 gb ram). This code was using java 6 from Apple previously - with the upgrade to 1.6.0_13, it's now hanging in the middle of its run. This code has been running for quite some time. Before OSX supported java 6 it also ran on java 5 no problem. it just started hanging after this update. Can the java update be uninstalled?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 10.5.8 and I think I read that in the latest FF update, Java is disabled and with my version of software, no way to make it work anymore. Is this true? I have an onlime game that I think requires Java to play and I cannot access the game today and am wondering if that is the reason. I could play yesterday, but not today, it hangs when loading. It could be the game site itself, but I got to thinking about Java and did some research and saw that Java is only supported now in 10.6 and higher. If it is a java issue, is there any way to get it back and working with my system? I tried accessing it using Safari, same issue, hangs in same place.

i received my new 27" ACD. This display is amazing! I use it on my Mac Pro 2008. No dead pixels, audio is working and iSight worked too. But after installing the "Software-Update for LED Cinema Display 1.0" my iSight is not working anymore!
Only black video window in iChat and FaceTime. And the green LED next to the iSight is off.
Seems that the iSight is not starting.
I am on a MacBook Pro and am encountering problems after the last Java upgrade on Lion. My dock will not appear when I rollover - so I have set it to show all of the time. I clicked on my widget icon to use the calculator, and nothing loaded. I was stuck on the screen and had to hard restart.

What has been released to install as a security update? I seem to be clicking on one web link which takes me to another and nothing to actually install. Typical Apple. Really wish I hadn't bought this MacCrap Air - I do miss my PC.

I was running java 1.6.0_33 on my Mac Lion and later I installed java 1.7.0_05. Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available. Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following error
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting... Can not find message file : No such file or directory.

I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2 and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for example
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro. Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences. Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either. There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.I downloaded the package from support to try a re-installation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close. No reinstall, nothing. Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.

I am brand new to Mac (I got a G4 laptop in trade to replace a dead windows desktop).I am trying to install Limewire and it tells me that I cannot: "could not launch application because it requires a version of Java that is not installed". It goes on to acknowledge that it can see everything up to 1.5...but that I need 1.6.
So, I go to Software Update and make sure that I have 1.6. It tells me that there are no new updates, that my computer is up to date.I think I recall being told that I am running Leopard on this laptop. If java 1.6 is available, and I do not have it, and my computer tells me that there are no new updates that my computer needs and will not automatically grab java 1.6, yet I need it to install anapplication....what are my options?
how can i force a program to use java 6 instead of java 7?im trying to use tekkit (minecraft mod) and i need java 7 for the sever but java 6 for the lancher?how i could force the lancher into using java 6?
