Software :: Autofill Not Working - Unable To Activate Autofill
Feb 8, 2009For some reason, I am not able to have my autofill activate when I try to type in addresses, etc. I am using the older version of Yahoo for my email and Safari 3.2.1 as my browser. The other browsers are Flock, Firefox and Netscape seem to work fine. I have tried upgrading to the new AT&T/Yahoo email, which seems to work, but I do not like the format that email client uses.

Oct 1, 2006Everytime I go to the address bar and start typing it will give me a list of sites from history/bookmarks to choose from. For example if I type www.e it will come up with every page I've visited beginning with E. Obviously I can clear my history, but how do I stop it displaying sites from my bookmarks? I use my Mac around a lot of people and don't want everyone seeing every other site I've visited.

This very time saving function has ceased to work. Any ideas on how to get it back up and running? I'm running OSX.6.4 on an mid 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.8 GHz iMac.

Dec 16, 2008I just upgraded to Leopard (10.5.6) from Tiger, and the one problem I'm having is when I enter, say, the word "Facebook" in the URL bar. In the past, the "www" and ".com" would automatically be added. Now I'm sent to a Verizon search page. Autofill has been and remains checked and activated.

Aug 4, 2010Ever since I updated to 5, my address bar has been autofilling the title of the page I go to, for instance: Say I have been to Zappos and looked at a pair of converse, the title at the top of the window will say something like "Converse shoe etc." Well then say I've looked on [URL] at something before, and I want to go there again. If I start typing "converse" into the address bar, it wants to autfill the "Converse shoe etc." title and take me to the Zappos page instead of [URL] Is there a way to disable this? I liked it the way it was before, If im typing something in the address bar I only want ti to guess urls, not page titles.

Apr 7, 2009What I'd like to do is have Safari use AutoFill for my passwords, but not store the passwords in my login keychain. I'd like to have a separate keychain that I can unlock from the menu bar that allows Safari access to passwords that it otherwise would not have. And I'd want it to work seamlessly with the Safari AutoFill. I tried manually adding a password in the Keychain Access Utility, which I don't want to have to do, but even then when I told it to AutoFill (although I'd like it to AutoFill automatically), I had to give Safari permission to access my keychain.
For example, if I went to Facebook, it would present the usual blank password field. But if I unlocked my keychain and then went to Facebook, the password field would already be filled in.
Even more ideally, I'd like it to skip the login page completely (as if "Remember me" had been checked), but I don't think that's possible.

Jun 6, 2012I am trying to clean up my Safari autofill forms in preferences. I can delete some of them, but not the ones I have no need for, like from an old email. They are in the User Names and Passwords section. I have duplicates, and some with old email addresses attached that I would like to clean up.

I know that AutoFill uses information from Address Book to fill out the form - that's why I have a card in Address Book with my name and email address on it - but I'm still getting this error message when attempting to use AutoFill.

Jul 2, 2010I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!

Feb 26, 2009I downloaded this: [URL] to add the "tweaks" menu. After I downloaded it I had some trouble getting it to work. I originally just dragged the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) into where it is supposed to go and that didnt do anything. So then I redownloaded it and dragged the folder itself into it, that didnt do anything. then I got rid of the orignal Menu.nib file and it caused Safari to not even start. After retrying a bunch of times I eventually got it to work. Once I got it to work I clicked on the "view webless ct" tweak (or whatever it said) just to see what it was, and viola, Safari wouldnt load. Everytime I try to open Safari now, I got an error message saying safari needs to quit.
I even reinstalled safari, didnt work. THEN I threw the installation .dmg file in the trash, as well ass safari it self into the trash and emptied it. Then I used firefox and redownloaded Safari 4 from apple.com. After downloading and installing safari 4 again, restarting the computer, it STILL shows the error message. How can I get safari back to work? I really dont like Firefox.

I logged into to my gmail account and was greeted by a beautiful white screen I then booted up Firefox and everything worked....Anyone else having issues with Gmail?

I have been using Safari with Adblock in Snow Leopard since it was released without issue. All of a sudden it just stopped working. Preferences say it is enabled. Restarted Safari, restarted Adblock, restarted the entire PC, checked for updates, and reinstalled Adblock. None of these things worked.

Not by trying to open a new window or going into my history and opening the Apple page. Nov 27, 2009When I try to open a new tab it leaves the new tab blank and changes the tab I'm already working on...doesn't do this all the time, but enough to make it irritating. Basically it makes additional tabs uselesss
Also, if I am working successfully in 2 or more tabs for a while it will freeze on the last URL I used on the newest tab and not allow me to go to any new pages on any of the tabs...the only solution to this seems to be quitting Safari and restarting..PITA
I really like Safari, but it's been doing this to me for a few weeks now. Gonna go back to Firefox for the time being and hope that a future update fixes it.

Nov 29, 2009I don't know what my wife did to her 13" white MacBook, but Firefox is slow as molasses. Safari is working perfectly, but all of her bookmarks are in Firefox. I made sure she was on the correct network, than added opendns settings to DNS. I downloaded and installed the most recent Firefox and repaired permissions on the drive. I rebooted - same problem. Random beachballs causing the app to be useless. Safari works perfectly, so it's not an Internet issue. I haven't tried other apps to be sure but right now it seems confined to Firefox.
