Applications :: Hotspot Shield Launches Automatically At Startup?

Jan 8, 2010

I have been using Hotspot Shield for a few years now, but the most recent update is for some reason causing it to automatically launch at startup (it has the Hotspot Shield logo in the menu bar).

I have tried looking at the the Startup Items list in System Preferences and looking at the preferences within the application itself. I cannot seem to figure out how to prevent it from launching automatically.

Windows On Mac :: VMware Always Launches VM On Startup?

Jul 23, 2010

I got a bit of an annoying issue with VMWare 3.1. Every time I launch the program it automatically launches the virtual machine I set up. It is annoying because sometimes I launch it on accident and then I have to wait for the VM to fully power up and then shut it down. I am also thinking it would be annoying in the future once I install a few more OS's on there (I assume it might start the first one on the list automatically which might not be the one I want to use).

How can I get it to go into the menu of the program and let me pick which VM I want to launch (if any at all)?

I have looked everywhere in preferences and I did not see any settings for this.

OS X :: IPhoto Launches On Startup - Progress Bar Never Complete

Nov 27, 2008

For some reason, iPhoto now launches whenever I start my iMac. How on earth do I stop it? Also, since checking out the international character palette, there's a little British flag on my menu bar which I cannot get rid of. Also (while I'm here!) why does the blue progress bar never complete on my mosaic screen-saver: it's always there in the middle of the mosaic, about 95% complete?

My iChat is automatically opening up on startup when I turn on my computer. I do not have the "Open at Login" optiona checked so I know it isn't that. Every time I turn on my computer, iChat opens and logs on and says I'm logged in at 2 different locations even though I know that I am not. I hit 1 to log off the other locations anyways.

Mac Pro :: Audio Automatically Going To Monitor Speakers On Startup

Feb 27, 2012

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro, been running Lion since December. Until last week had no problems. There have been no changes made to the computer, no software added or removed. All of a sudden, when I turn the computer on, audio automatically goes to the speakers on my 24" Cinema Display. When I go into System Preferences I can easily switch it back to my speakers, but it defaults my speakers to full volume, and just to turn the volume down fills the entire house with the 'Apple volume change' sound, until I get it to a reasonable level. So while I have this backwards fix for it, I kind of resent that I have to do all that before I can even get to work on the computer.†I tried deleting the plists in Macintosh HD < Library < Preferences < Audio, but when I restart they're back where they were and the audio's going straight to the display again.

I have tried connecting to the them and then dragging them into the login items, but on restart, they don't appear on the desktop.

MacBook Pro :: Unibody MBP - Invisible Shield & Heat ?

Jan 8, 2009

A questions for all of those who have any sort of invisible shield (zagg, bse, bodyguardz etc etc) on their Unibody MBP (or MB for that matter).

Anyone having any issues with the cpu reaching dangerously high temperatures? I heard that the invisible shield is particularly bad because it insulates the aluminum on the mbp, thereby not allowing it to properly dissipate heat. This is one of the things that's preventing me from pulling the trigger on getting one.

OS X :: Zagg Invisible Shield And Snow Leopard

Aug 10, 2009

I just bought a mac and I'm a first time user so I had a few questions regarding the Snow Leopard upgrade and Zagg Invisible Shields.

1. Does the apple retail store install Zagg InvisibleSheilds for MacBook Pro's? If not, does any other store? I tried installing it myself but I ended up frustrated with a crappy looking MBP.

2. I'm trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard through the apple website but after i finish giving the required information, it takes me to the apple store cart, but the problem is that the cart is empty. Am I doing something wrong? I bought my MBP June 23 and I really don't want to buy Snow Leopard if I could just pay the $10 and upgrade it.

Safari :: It Launches But Won't Open A Window

Apr 29, 2012

I'd set up Safari for my son under his own profile and it was working great with Parental Controls. When I went in one day to update his allowed sites, Safari launched but wouldn't open a window.  I could access preferences, reset, etc., but it wouldn't open a new window and when I tried to open a tab, it loaded at the bottom of the screen for a split second and then crashed.  I've deleted all the safari files, re-installed, downgraded - the downgrade worked but the Parental Controls didnt work.  Now what?  None of the other Parental Control apps I've tried work as well as Safari's.   Date/Time:  2012-04-29 13:32:29.593 -0700OS Version: 10.4.11 (Build 8S165)
