We are connected to the internet via ethernet.http://maketecheasier.com/create-wif...s-x/2009/10/20I just purchased a piece of crap Android tablet that I absolutely hate, but cannot return. I was able to wirelessly connect to a local linsky connection, but it has since disappeared. I am now making every attempt to enable the Airport on our Mac so that I can actually use this garbage Android tablet. The tablet I am using is a Next2 (garbage, don't waste your money).

MacBook Pro :: How To Create A WiFi Hotspot

Sep 5, 2014

Is it possible to create a WiFi-Hotspot from my MacBookPro if it's connected to a WiFi-Network? The reason why I'm asking this question is because in my school you can only connect Laptops to the WiFi. So I thought, I could create a Hotspot from my Mac to connect my iPhone to the Internet/Mac-Hotspot.

Retina Macbook And Sharing Internet Connection With Android Phone

Jul 4, 2012

I just updatet my 2010 MBP to the new retina model. For years, I have used my mobile phones (iPhone and lately several Android models) to connect to internet, which has always worked perfectly. Now, with latest OSX there is a problem. I get the connection, and it shows no signs of losing it, but still the browser claims I'm offline. Turning the WIFI off and on again will help, but only for few minutes until the same happens again, everytime.

MacBook Pro :: Internet Connection Stops Working Connected To Wifi Hotspot?

May 9, 2012

I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network.  The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection.  However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Personal Hotspot On IPhone 4s Not Working Via USB Cable

Apr 24, 2012

In the last couple of weeks, I have not been able to use the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4s via the USB/sync cable to either of two 2011 Macs, both running the latest version of Lion, with all relevant software updated, including Flashback removal & Java updates. The connection via Bluetooth & wi-fi is unaffected.

Opening the Network System Preference pane, the connection is shown as iPhone USB, but it is not connected, even with all other internet access methods either deactivated or disconnected.

This issue is related to Lion, as the G4 & G5 PPC Macs running 10.5.8 which I either use or administer are not affected by this problem. The iPhone is running on iOS 5.1 and is not jailbroken.

Is it possible that the Flashback/Java issues and Apple's interpretation of their prevention/removal has affected this aspect of internet access via Personal Hotspot?

Hardware :: Web Use Of Apple IPad Already Rivals Android / BlackBerry

Apr 15, 2010

With more than 500,000 units sold in its first week, Apple's iPad has tracked as high as 0.04 percent of total daily Web browsing, a number equal to March averages for the Android and BlackBerry platforms, according to a Web analysis firm.Net Applications has been tracking the presence of the iPad online since the device was released on April 3. On its launch day, the iPad took an estimated 0.01 percent of all Web browser traffic, and continued to climb to its peak of 0.04 percent on April 10 and 11.As noted by Gregg Keizer of Computerworld, the iPad's share is nearly as great as usage of BlackBerry or Google Android on the Web. In the month of March, Net Applications found that BlackBerry had an average 0.04 percent share, while Android, split between versions 1.5 and 1.6, had the exact same figure. While the iPad achieved 0.04 percent for a couple of days, it has not yet sustained those numbers.

The statistics also show that iPhone and iPod touch devices are responsible for 0.6 percent of total Web browsing, an online presence about 20 times larger than the iPad managed to achieve in its first week.Apple this week revealed that it sold more than 500,000 iPads in the device's first week of availability. While the overall market presence of Android and BlackBerry phones dwarfs the number of iPads in the wild, the new statistics suggest that early adopters of the iPad have been far more likely to browse the Web on their new device than owners of BlackBerries or Android handsets. Also coming in with a 0.04 percent share, like the iPad, BlackBerry and Android, was Windows ME, Microsoft's much maligned operating system released in the year 2000. For comparison, Windows XP is a whopping 64.46 percent of all Web browsing. Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is represented by 2.13 percent of all computers on the Web, while its predecessor, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, takes up a slightly larger 2.26 percent.

Net Applications also found that Google is the dominant search engine on Apple's iPad, responsible for 97.43 percent of all searches conducted from the device. The iPad operating system, iPhone OS 3.2, has Google as the default search engine in its Mobile Safari Web browser. Users can go into the system settings and change the default to Yahoo, which carries 1.98 percent of iPad searches.Microsoft's Bing, which has been rumored for months to potentially become the default search engine of the iPhone, was third with 0.27 percent of all iPad searches. Ask took fourth with 0.13 percent, and AOL fifth with 0.8 percent.Early this year, the Web analysis firm found that the iPhone OS on the iPhone and iPod touch continued to grow, then taking 0.43 percent of all Web traffic. The data found that although the iPhone and iPod touch represented just 17 percent of global handsets, the two devices are responsible for 65 percent of all handheld Web browsing. Apple's ecosystem also controls half of all mobile application usage, AdMob has found.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet - Using Wireless Modem To Connect To The Netgear Wgt624

Dec 27, 2007

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.

*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?
