View 5 Replies View RelatedI sent my Macbook to the Genius repair, I could take snapshots and they would find their own space on the desktop. Now they go over the Macintosh HD icon. Same with whenever I insert a dvd, it goes over the HD icon. It's annoying because they all pile up on top of the HD icon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed a small but very annoying change. I have the energy saver pane appear in the menu bar on my iBook. It used to be when I clicked the battery icon I could select Better Battery Life, Better Performance, or Normal from the drop down menu. I don't when this change happened, but I am now no longer able to select those from the icon, I have to open System Preference to change it. [URL]

Is it possible to create a WiFi-Hotspot from my MacBookPro if it's connected to a WiFi-Network? The reason why I'm asking this question is because in my school you can only connect Laptops to the WiFi. So I thought, I could create a Hotspot from my Mac to connect my iPhone to the Internet/Mac-Hotspot.

I installed this proxy extension in chrome (cant remember what its called) but i couldn't get it to work properly so i removed it. However now i have a hotspot shield banner at the top of my browser and i cant figure out how to remove it!
when i installed that chrome extension it made no mention of hotspot shield and its REALLY pissing me off! I dont know what it is, i dont care, i just want rid of it.
Also, google thinks im a robot, telling me im sending out automated queries and Iv'e got to do a captcha every time i want to search.
I have turned my MacBook Pro Retina into a hotspot and can connect multiple devices.
However, when I try to access the internet from the MacBook Pro while the hotspot is active, I cannot connect.
Is there some setting I am missing?

I have been using Hotspot Shield for a few years now, but the most recent update is for some reason causing it to automatically launch at startup (it has the Hotspot Shield logo in the menu bar).
I have tried looking at the the Startup Items list in System Preferences and looking at the preferences within the application itself. I cannot seem to figure out how to prevent it from launching automatically.
I always used Hotspot Shield to watch American TV shows on the internet from Canada as it blocks my IP address. Ever since installing Snow Leopard Hotspot Shield freezes my internet whenever I try to connect with it.

In the last couple of weeks, I have not been able to use the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4s via the USB/sync cable to either of two 2011 Macs, both running the latest version of Lion, with all relevant software updated, including Flashback removal & Java updates. The connection via Bluetooth & wi-fi is unaffected.
Opening the Network System Preference pane, the connection is shown as iPhone USB, but it is not connected, even with all other internet access methods either deactivated or disconnected.
This issue is related to Lion, as the G4 & G5 PPC Macs running 10.5.8 which I either use or administer are not affected by this problem. The iPhone is running on iOS 5.1 and is not jailbroken.
Is it possible that the Flashback/Java issues and Apple's interpretation of their prevention/removal has affected this aspect of internet access via Personal Hotspot?

I noticed that Aperture 3 is priced really, REALLY low on the Mac App Store. So I made the decision to buy it. But... I already have Aperture 2 installed. So what happens when I buy Aperture 3? Does it recognize that I have Aperture 2 installed, and upgrade it, or will it install Aperture 3 alongside Aperture 2?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network. The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection. However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

I have a G5 Duel 2GHz Power PC, Recently I was losing the time, date and wireless settings so I assumed as my machine is now 4 years old the PRAM battery was up for renewal. This has now been replaced but I'm still losing my settings, not all the time but randomly, sometimes I lose my wireless key sometimes I lose time and date sometimes both, this can happen daily.
I have removed the (New) Battery and checked the voltage and it reads 3.6 Volts, I haven't checked this under load though, so presuming that the battery is OK, what else could cause this.. a failing System Board?
I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

Every few minutes my 13" MBP completely stalls, video and music pauses, can't do anything with my MBP and the mouse icon turns into that waiting icon. I don't know what it's called but it's round with colours inside it.Anyways, it stops me from what I'm doing for about 20 seconds and happens every few minutes and it's beginning to annoy me now!

Here's Postbox if you don't know what it is: [URL]
I've just downloaded Safari 5.1.5 and want to create this icon on my desktop, however, I don't want it as a 'short-cut' icon but as the same icon I see on the docking station.I was previously able to do this with Safari 5.0.3.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.
