MacBook Pro :: Can Connect Multiple Devices To Hotspot

Sep 5, 2014

I have turned my MacBook Pro Retina into a hotspot and can connect multiple devices.

However, when I try to access the internet from the MacBook Pro while the hotspot is active, I cannot connect.

Is there some setting I am missing?

Mac Mini :: Can't Get Multiple Devices To Connect To Wireless Signal

Mar 28, 2012

I just got a Mac Mini no too long ago and while moving to my new apartment, my wireless router had a tragic accident and is no longer with me. So I thought "hey, I will just use my Mac Mini to broadcast a wifi signal so my other devices can connect to it." So I spent the morning setting up the internet sharing in the Mac Mini system preferences. Got my Dell Studio 1555 to connect with no issues. But my roommates acer notebook won't pick up the wifi signal at all. Checked it on both of our smart phones (both are android models), my nook, and even my ipod touch. It is only showing up on the dell for some reason. I was wondering if anyone else has encoutered this issue before Mac mini is currently set up with 128bit wep with a 13 character password.

ITunes :: Setup Multiple Users With Multiple Devices?

Mar 12, 2012

I'm trying to find the easiest solution to our family music situation.  4 users, 4 devices (ipods, ipad, imac, pc laptops), and 4 different musical song interests.  I'm sure there are millions of households that have the same exact situation.  I want to be able to pull up only my musical library, not my kid's music, and then easily synch it to my ipod.  Everyone in the family wants to do this same thing.  I have spent alot of time trying to search the forums/internet and there does not seem to be one "most popular" solution.  I did setup iCloud for each family member using a different Apple ID than my main Apple ID, and I'm happy that ALL the music shows up on my ipad.  But between iCloud, MobileMe, Home Sharing it all gets very confusing.  Some say to setup multiple computer login accounts, and others say to setup 1 playlist for each family member and synch from that playlist.

I would think 1 itunes account allows you to easily share a purchased song with 4 users, instead of buying songs twice.

So here are a few of my questions-

1-Is it best to have only 1 itunes account and then synch all devices off of 1 main computer?

2-Or since we each have iCloud accounts, will they be able to synch their ipods from their own pc laptop?

3-And when they synch, what is the easiest way to exclude other users music in itunes? (other than unchecking hundreds of artists)

4-Or setup 4 separate computer login accounts on the imac and then keep 1 itunes account?  If so, how does this work when they open itunes?

ITunes :: Integrate Multiple Devices For Multiple Users?

May 26, 2012

I have a Mac that my wife and I share.  We own and iShuffle, iPod, iTouch and two iPhones.  My wife's iPhone is her own and my iPhone is through work.  We only have one Apple ID and we share our iTunes.  What do I need to do to make all devices work together on iTunes with relative ease?  Do I need to create multiple Apple IDs?  Can we link them together so we don't have to log in and out of iTunes, yet keep it so that what she does with apps / music on her phone doesn't effect what apps / music I move on my phone?

MacBook :: Connect 2 Bluetooth Devices At The Same Time?

Feb 9, 2009

If there's actually anyone who uses bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth mouse at the same time....

do you experience any choppy lag on the mouse when you have both connected?

the audio seems to not have any issues, but the mouse seems to skip alittle bit hear and there. its not unbearable and it's still usable, but you do notice it. it works like normal when obviously the headphones are disconnected.

MacBook Air :: No Output Devices Found - How To Connect

Apr 9, 2009

This just happened to me the other day, I plugged a pair of apple headphones in used them and then unplugged them. The next day I noticed that I was not getting any sound from my macbook air, no startup sound, no OS sounds, and even the headphones are not detected when plugged in. I've tried all the tricks and so far nothing.

Of course my mac is just out of warranty at the end of March and I'm going to imagine this is a small fortune to get fixed. Since last time I took it in while it was in warranty they wanted 900 bucks to replace my HDD

Anyone else run across this, I'm thinking of just throwing it on craiglist or ebay for like 900 bucks as is and buying a normal laptop

I tried resetting and even restoring the AirPort Extreme but nothing has worked. The only thing recently that has happened was that I updated to OS X Yosemite Beta but that was days ago.

MacBook Pro :: Not Connect To Internet But Other Devices Are Working

Jun 22, 2014

Device:  macbook pro, 13-inch mid 2010 model

OS X 10.9.2

Earlier today, this computer stopped connecting to the internet.  I am still able to connect to the local wireless and check the status of my airport extreme (current model).  But, all attempts to reach the internet fail.  I've tested other devices (iPad, iPhone, and my mac mini) and they are all still using the wireless to reach the internet without issue.  I even tried plugging the ethernet cable from the wall directly into my macbook (no modem in use, just wall to airport extreme, as we're in an apartment building), but that does not work for the macbook pro either.  I reviewed the network settings for the macbook pro and the mac mini, and noticed that the DNS settings are different between the two - the macbook pro is listing an entry for Search Domains -, but my mini is not showing any search domains in that setting.  Additionally, the ipv4 addresses are fairly different between the 2 computers, as well as the subnet mask ( on the macbook, on the mini) and router settings ( for the macbook, for the mini).  Not sure what I can do to force/clear these settings on the macbook or anything else to check.

ITunes :: Syncing Multiple Devices To One Computer

Jun 4, 2012

We have one mac book, two iphones and an ipad and are having trouble syncing them all to the one computer.I have set up a different user account (with the itunes library shared across all users) for one iphone and ipad (who belong to the one person). However when we connect these devices it states that they have already been synced with an itunes account and will need to erase it to do so. They iphone was set up with an old computer and the new ipad through icloud. I have selected to manually manage the music (both with the old and new computer) but itunes keeps telling me it will have to erase the iphone/ipad to sync with this computer - all we really want to do is put music on the devices but definitely don't want to loose the contacts and all the other information.

ITunes :: Playing Music From Multiple Libraries/devices?

Feb 7, 2012

Is it possible to play music from multiple libraries over a single device, with control over the playlist possible from multiple devices/computers? Baiscally, in one of my smaller offices, everyone has a Mac or PC with iTunes, along with various iPads, iPhones etc etc. They randomly pick some tunes to play from each of their individual machines.

I would like to setup a system where there is a single device (Mac/PC/Airplay/Apple TV etc) with decent speakers, where anyone can submit a track(s) to play from their library, be it on their Mac, iPad iPhone etc. to stream through the central system.I would then imagine using the Remote app to control it.

They should all be able to submit tracks simultanously, rather that one device connecting with a Airplay at a time. This would also work in a party senario. Guest rock up, pair their device with the system, and they can all submit track(s) from their device and it goes into the playlist...

ICloud :: Sync Mac Mail Settings Across Multiple Devices?

Mar 1, 2012

So... I used to use MobileMe, and now we have iCloud.  :|  Grrr.

I switched back to Mac Mail after using Gmail for a while... but I have like 10 email accounts, all their own IMAP setups.  I just added them all to my desktop Mac last night.

I'd like them (and all mail rules, etc) to also show up on my iPhone and my iPad and my Mac Air.  This used to be doable with MobileMe.

Is there any way to do this now?  Best I can tell, unless I'm missing something, iCloud only syncs the iCloud mail account itself.

I ask as whilst I'm totally Mac'd, my partner who has her own Apple account has a Winows laptop and experiences problems updating iOS software on her iPhone 4S and iPad 3 Gen via the laptop. I'm thinking the problems may be overcome if we manage her iOS devices through my iMac.
