OS X :: Why Doesn't IMac Automatically Connect To The Web On Startup

Apr 24, 2009

I click on safari icon on dock but it fails to connect, so I have to go through several windows to get connected, putting the WPA key in each time.

Always after a reboot, and possibly after a logoff/logon situation.

IMac :: Why Doesn't Magic Mouse Connect Automatically After Changing The Batteries

Oct 2, 2010

It has been this way as long as I've had the Magic Mouse - if I change the batteries, it won't re-connect. I must plug in a USB mouse and manually connect the Magic Mouse. This is on a relatively recent 24" iMac. Am I doing something wrong?

PS: I think at some point in the past I made the mouse a Favorite in trying to fix this.

Intel Mac :: Doesn't Connect Automatically To Internet When Boot Up

May 12, 2012

We lost our BT internet connection for a few days. BT eventually sorted it out and it was caused by a problem at the exchange.

Before this, the imac automatically connected to the internet whenever we booted up. Now it doesn't and we have to reconnect to the internet each time we boot up. I don't really know the correct way to do this, but what I am doing to connect is to open Safari which then says it can't connect and offers a diagnostics page where I can then go through a process to reconnect. Then it reconnects fine, buty the next time I boot up I have to go through the same process again.

IMac :: Can Connect To HP Photosmart C4780 Wireless Printer Automatically

Aug 24, 2010

I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?

IMac :: Airport On 27" - WiFi Doesn't Connect

Jun 23, 2010

Since the latest update of OSX, I'm encountering trouble with my WiFi connection. My old sony laptop has no problem connecting, so I'm guessing the problem must be with the iMac, and not with the network. When I boot the mac, everything is OK, I get connected. But after a while (less then half an hour) it looses connection to internet. In the airport icon appears a " ! ". To get my mac back on the network, I have to reboot it. It's not a signal problem, my mac always finds the network, but it doesn't connect. My password is asked, I'm sure I entered it wright, but it's asked over and over, no connection possible. I tried changing DHCP to a fix IP, deleting the network and reconnect as if it's a new one, and little stuff like that, nothing helps. Only way is to reboot.

Mac Pro :: Audio Automatically Going To Monitor Speakers On Startup

Feb 27, 2012

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro, been running Lion since December. Until last week had no problems. There have been no changes made to the computer, no software added or removed. All of a sudden, when I turn the computer on, audio automatically goes to the speakers on my 24" Cinema Display. When I go into System Preferences I can easily switch it back to my speakers, but it defaults my speakers to full volume, and just to turn the volume down fills the entire house with the 'Apple volume change' sound, until I get it to a reasonable level. So while I have this backwards fix for it, I kind of resent that I have to do all that before I can even get to work on the computer. I tried deleting the plists in Macintosh HD < Library < Preferences < Audio, but when I restart they're back where they were and the audio's going straight to the display again.

OS X :: Disk On Network Doesn't Automatically Mount Using Backup

Sep 13, 2009

I use Backup (the Mac app) to backup some things to my iDisk and others to an hd connected to my airport extreme. It works fine, except for that when the app appears (each day) for the scheduled backup to the network hd, (it sits there waiting, saying ''waiting for volume... and the name of the disk"). I have to go to the finder, open a window, go to 'All' under 'Shared' locations, choose the network hd, click on the folder (there's only one one the disk) and then, and only then, will the backup begin. Is there any way for it to just be able to find the folder by itself and perform the backup without my having to find the folder for it every time?

Intel Mac :: It Doesn't Reconnect Automatically To Router All In A Sudden

Feb 14, 2012

I have used my Imac for about six months without any problems.   All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours.

Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings.

I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vn

MacBook :: AirPort Won't Connect Automatically In OSX 10.4

Mar 2, 2009

After installing OSX 10.4 on my wifes' Clamshell iBook 466 Firewire, and accepting several software upgrades to 10.4.11, I was annoyed to find that the AirPort Card would not connect automatically on start-up. This seems to be as a result of the AirPort software upgrade to version 4.2.

There seems to be no way of reverting back to the previous version, leaving us with the problem of having to connect manually. This involves several steps, starting with choosing "Other" from the AirPort drop-down menu, selecting the network from a drop-down list, then selecting the WEP option from the next drop-down, entering the Password and clicking 'OK' to complete the connection process.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Won't Automatically Connect To Wifi

Jun 23, 2012

I have a brand spanking new iMac running Lion. I have it setup with different accounts - me, my wife, the kids,... Problem is when I switch accounts or log on it wont connect automatically to my home Cisco wifi router. I need to select it each time from the menu bar. For me this just very frustrating but for anyone visiting it pretty much means that they wont be able to use the computer as they thing that it isn't connected to the net. There has got to be some way to automatically connect to a network, it works perfectly each time on all of my windows devices. Anyone know how to fix this - its close to making me pack the thing up and send it back?

OS X :: Possible To Connect Internet Through Login Wifi Automatically?

Dec 27, 2010

At my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.

MacBook Air :: AirPort Does Not Automatically Connect To Home Network

Jun 22, 2009

I really like my new MacBook Air, but one thing bothers the crap out of me which is that my airport doesn't automatically connect at home. I did nothing to my network out of the box and connect via WPA2 settings. My wife's late 2008 MacBook always connects to our home network (which is an Apple Extreme N router). Even my Dell Mini with OSX connects perfectly every time. What's causing the MacBook Air not to automatically connect and how do I fix it? BTW, I have tried turning off the Airport and turning back on. Also I used "assist me" to reconnect my DHCP settings and clicked to automatically connect me to my network. The only way I can connect is to click down on the wireless icon and actually choose the network.
