At the bottom of letters I write I would like to include random facts about the company. Rather than copying and pasting a random fact - I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to add random text to the footer of a Pages or word document?

This may be a ridiculously stupid question, but for the life of me I can't figure out whats wrong!
I'm trying to add a header and footer to my pages document, however I am not able to no matter how hard I try.
I have tried to create a section and make that the footer, and read almost every related article in the help menu.
Also - when I try to insert a section, the selection in the insert menu is grayed out.
I'm not sure if this will help, but my document has no text and is just tables where I need a header and footer for the 11 pages.
Is there any way to put text in the footer?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy mother is working on an important document with Word 2004, and it's fairly big at ~100 pages. The problem, is that people have sent through their own sections from their PC versions of Word, and their sections have [Type text] in the footer area. We cannot find a way to remove this text, and it doesn't actually show up when we reveal the footer. It prints this on every page, so we really need to find a way to get rid of it!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am designing a hard cover book with about 90 pages. I would like an image with a title on the front and a different image on the back. This seems straight forward with the Aperture system. However, I would also like to have the title of the book run vertically downwards on the spine of the book. I do not see anyway of doing this? There is no mention of this in the PDF documentation either. I really want to have this spine title. I have done this with other systems.
Having a spine title is nice as it presents the title of the book when the book is in a book shelf. Is there a way of doing this? I guess the other option is to design a large photoshop document that includes the front/back images, titles and the vertical spine title in the middle and then use that as the file for the official Dust Jacket Spread Cover option? The issue of that would be predicting the width of the actual spine. This thickness be impacted by the number of pages and thickness of the cover bindings?
In MS Word on my desktop, I seem to have lost the 'Header and Footer' option under 'View'. I checked my friends Word on his laptop, and it did in fact have it. Both comps have MS Word 2008, and my desktop is a quad core i7. (Also, I have searched the Help menu, and the only thing that comes up is the AutoText version of Header/Footer which is not quite the same - leading me to think that it's actually missing...and yes everything is up to date)
As a student I use this function almost daily and it's extremely frustrating not having it. If you have any tips or ideas please let me know,

I'm trying to fill out a downloaded application which is in pdf format. I can type text onto the form in Preview, however, the text types as though it's right justified. That is: when I type the text, the text appears to the left of the cursor. To clarify, the cursor stays in the same place and the text moves to the left, for example, when I place the cursor to the right of "Name", the text I type in appears to the left of the cursor on top of the word "Name". For fields such as Name and Date, I suppose I can just put the cursor far to the right and type my text, but this is an application that includes an essay portion. Typing a paragraph with all of the text going to the left of the cursor isn't going to work very well. Is there a way to change the way the text is added, so that it's added in a more normal way, like the way I'm typing this question, where the letters appear where the cursor is and the cursor moves to the right as you add more text?
I have also tried doing this in Text Edit and Pages (I converted the pdf in Text Edit to rtf), but I wasn't able to fill out the document as needed. In addition, importing the document to Pages and Text Edit, for some reason, only imported the first page of the document). I am using OS 10.6.8
If I add an event to iCal such as "Tomorrow 9am Breakfast meeting with George", the event will automatically show up in my calendar assigned to tomorrow 9am. I don't have to go into the event window and enter the time and date.
But I cannot figure out how to enter the text for an all-day event. I have to manually go into the event, click on the time, then select "all-day" and hit enter.
Any way to do this by simply typing some version of "all-day" into the event text?

I'm on one site then after clicking on a line it will load up another page i may have visited before or at the same time in another tab. Example i'm trying to access a clothing store and its showing me an ebay error, i get random errors trying to go to youtube, i try going to wikipedia and it loads cragslist. Is it malware?

Sometimes random applications quit unexpectedly, and sometimes the Finder keeps quitting and restarting repeatedly. Last time this happened after waking the machine from hibernation, and Skype and Chrome quit. Before other applications has quit as well, such as MATLAB and Spotify. Anyone got any idea what might be amiss? I've got the newest version of everything that I'm running.

When i'm listening to music on my Mac Pro I 'randomly' get the message:'to access this podcast, you need to log into 82.136.33.201'Like i say this is when i'm listening to music and not trying to open a podcast. It happens randomly (about every half hour or so) and is usually in the middle of a song. It never happens when a song's starting and i've never been denied access to any songs (or podcasts for that matter).I've also got the same music collection on my MacbookPro and don't have this problem there.I put '82.136.33.201' into my browser and came to LBC Podcasts site. I believe i've never downloaded any LBC podcasts and searched their podcasts list to make sure.
I've had this problem for a few years now, my macbook pro recently not booting up, being the reason for me playing music on the mac pro more, hence needing this problem sorting. This problem has persited over many itunes and os updates. For the record i'm using itunes 10 and OS X version 10.6.4Apologies if this problem has been covered here before. I searched the forums and on google and couldn't find an answer.
I fired up iTunes tonight with Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. I almost always play my library with 'Random' so I thought it was cool when the second song was Audioslave's What You Are. Imagine my surprise when the third song of the evening was Take The Power Back by Rage Against The Machine. My library is not loaded with any of those bands. Does iTunes have a method to its random selection algorithm?
View 10 Replies View RelatedQuite a while back, I switched from Firefox back to Safari, because Firefox was driving me crazy with it's intermittent freezes and whatnot. Safari was so much faster and allowed tabbing to menu form fields (which I think Firefox still does not do). But lately, it seems like Safari just slogs through everything it tries to do. Google maps is painful. Loading up the CBS website earlier took over a minute, and not because of a slow connection.
The spinning beachball now appears on every click it seems. This is was Safari 3, so I updated to Safari 4 beta, and it doesn't seem much better. It's odd because it didn't used to be like this...It just sort of started out of nowhere. One thing I do notice is that my hard drive is just churning away with activity at these times. Any ideas what could cause such random slowdowns? Restarting does not help. It's just as slow afterward.

I have been getting spam messages on Adium, not from random people but from the people i know and have as friends. They do not know that they are doing it and it just appears on my messages without them doing anything. Is this a virus/trojan thingy on my mac or would this be a problem on their end, if anyone has this problem or a solution then i would be very grateful to hear, i don't really want to delete them from my account as i want to talk to them in future.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAdmittedly, I'm one of the not-quite-thinking-straight early adopters of Snow Leopard. I performed an update install & everything went quite well (very fast boot times, etc.) However, my Photoshop CS3 has some weird things happening (all other CS3 apps work fine!). I can open, edit & save images with no probs. But, there are numerous menu options that are grayed out, like "File>Quit"!! In order to quit the app, I have to force quit every time. Also, several other commands in the Path window are grayed out. I have not tried reinstalling SL, since everything else is working perfectly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just got a new mac and I was playing around with it when I found that on the keyboard settings you can create keyboard shortcuts to applications. So I clicked add and it gave me a list of apps to choose from - the one I chose was Safari. It then says enter the menu title (no idea what that is) so I just called it Safari. Then I chose the keyboard command - command S. When I clicked off it and tried it nothing happened.

For some weird reason iTunes starts to add every file twice. And I don't mean that it just keep the original, it actually adds the file two times in the iTunes Music folder.
I just added 300 Beatles Songs but now it added every single song twice...I have 600 songs now. This happened now and then before and its REALLY annoying. Especially when I need to delete every single file manually. The show duplicates just shows both files but I still need to highlight every 2nd file and then delete it.
I am attempting to modify the given template CHECKING ACCOUNT REGISTER in Numbers. I have figured everything out except how to modify the "Category" column where a drop-down menu is given for several recurring items (Home/Gas/Food/etc.) that are to be entered in that column. I would like to find how to create such a column or to be able to modify the one provided in the template. The TRANSACTIONS table is linked to the ACCOUNT CATEGORIES table which is linked to the CHART. That is intact and working as it should, but I have been unable to alter the column CATEGORY so that the drop down items will be ones that I want to use. Having the drop-down menu insures proper itemization in the linked ACCOUNT CATEGORIES table where typos are avoided as a result. The PDF manual was of little help (to me anyway) in addressing this seemingly simple alteration.
