I fired up iTunes tonight with Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. I almost always play my library with 'Random' so I thought it was cool when the second song was Audioslave's What You Are. Imagine my surprise when the third song of the evening was Take The Power Back by Rage Against The Machine. My library is not loaded with any of those bands. Does iTunes have a method to its random selection algorithm?

playlist burns copies in random order ruining the musics tracking order?

I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.
My iTunes window is set to Cover Flow, and my songs are sorted alphabetically by Album title. Before iTunes 10, I could skip to albums by pressing the letter on the keyboard which corresponded to the first letter of the album's title. So pressing D took me to "Deadwing", for example. Now in iTunes 10, if I press D in the same way, I get to "Best of Bowie" ('cos it's by David Bowie). Now it seems that suddenly the letter keys now correspond to the artist name, not the album name. Does anyone know how to change this back? I've searched and been through the preference settings etc to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI love to rent movies through AppleTV. BUT BUT BUT . . . the movie selection and tv series selection sucks. NO new season of Dexter. No District 9. No Kung Fu Panda. In fact, not a whole lot of movies being added. The ones that get added are slow to be added. Come on. I want good selection. It is a problem when Hilton Hotel PPV has better movie choices than I do on AppleTV. (please no jokes about hotel porn, I mean real movies). Who do I complain to? Is there any hope this will get better?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. See an attached example screenshot for Erykah Badu's Baduizm Album.

I think I found a bug in iTunes, because I can find no other explanation. Every once in a while (like once every three weeks) my iTunes window goes down. By this I mean everytime i click a different playlist, view, category, iTunes store, the window moves down a bit leaving this gap at the top. It randomly comes and goes, and its not really a big deal, but it does get really annoying. Is anyone else getting this? and no, im not just moving the window down

Ive got a compilation album in iTunes, with it sorting by artist. I got round that problem by putting an abbreviation of the album name at the beginning of the artist title, but now the track numbers are not in order like all my other albums.
View 15 Replies View RelatedIn order to burn an album you can't simply click on the album cover and tell it to burn what's stored in the library... you have to make a playlist from it and burn that.
But it has a mind of it's own. You can't sort the list and burn it the way you want it to.
I even had it sort by track number and it burned it out of order.
I have put four CD's into iTunes but the albums appear out of order in iTunes (ie 2,1,3,4). Is there any way I can re-organise the 4 albums into the correct order - for example by dragging one above the other in iTunes?
The album which appears first in the list (album 2) has been given a slightly different name (not by me!) from the other three!
Why do the tracks in this album appear out of order? I have tried everything to get them to be in order. What do I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to iTunes, and have burned dozens of CDs before. However, all of those CDs have been complete albums. I tried to burn my first mix recently, and found that the CD had been burned with the songs in the wrong order.
I must be doing something wrong, but there doesn't seem to be too many areas where iTunes makes it even possible to mess something this simple up, so I pretty confused.
I make a playlist, hit burn CD, select Audio CD, and go. The songs make it, but like I said, in the wrong order. They get organized by album, but I just want the CD to look like the playlist on the computer.
Has anyone run into something like this? It is iTunes 8.0.2.
For some reason, my iTunes only plays podcasts individually. Older versions would just play all the episodes you have in order but now I have to manually play each one.

It happens randomly (about every half hour or so) and is usually in the middle of a song. I've had this problem for a few years now, my macbook pro recently not booting up, being the reason for me playing music on the mac pro more, hence needing this problem sorting. I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)

So now that SL has been out for a while and 10.6.2 has been released, I'd like to revisit the the base 10 vs. binary issue and see people's opinion of this now. At first I didn't care, but as time went on and I started using various applications that provided information on hard drive space (omnidisksweeper, idisk,etc) I found it rather confusing and aggravating, so much so, I used that script file that was provided here. I also use other OSs that rightly use binary to computer free disk space and when mounting my HFS+ drives, the free space reported is different enough to bug me.

I want to know if it is possible to connect a 1TB external drive to the Mac mini and when I open iTunes have the music from that 1TB drive available. So with the final release of iOS 4.2.1, I decided to uninstall and install the final version of iTunes. All went well with the uninstall/install, except that I noticed that in the left side bar, there is no selection for my Apps. Is this normal?

I am using the polygonal lasso tool to cut out something. I know that the button "delete" undoes the last line/selection however if the selection is completed/closed by mistake there seem to be no option to go back. "delete" button simply erases what is in the selected area. How can I continue cutting out something from where I was if the selection is closed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedQuite often when burning CDs, The order that I have carefully set gets completely scrambled when playlist is burned. This is especially bad due when trying to burn books in my audiobook collection.
I have looked at a few Apple tech notes about this topic, but all seem to be of versions much older than that currently available.
Alphabetical orde is not the problem and one suggestion to use a Song command to set tracks in the play order, doesn't work since Song command.
With the latest versions of iTunes my music albums don't seem to play in order of track number anymore. Is there a way to set or establish play order?

I click on an artist which brings me to the view of their albums as a list with album art on the side.Multiple times a day the sorting changes and I have to put it back. I'll click an artist and iTunes insists on sorting the albums alphabetically like this:
I'll then click on Album by Artist/Year:That way my albums are sorted chronologically, the way I want. If i go back to grid view by clicking All Artists, then view another artist, iTunes will keep my sorting order. As soon as I play a different song, click All Artists and choose another artist, iTunes will switch back to sorting albums alphabetically.
How do I force iTunes to sort my albums chronologically (or in any order I specify)? Why does it insist on sorting in only one way?
