Software :: Apple Mail Program Doesn't Send Mail Through Optimum Mail
Aug 29, 2009I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.

I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.

I can right click it, select delete. And it gives the warning. I select OK and it does nothing. I have tried it through the menu system too, and the same result.

Mar 29, 2009I was using OS X 10.3.9 in Mail 1.3.11 on my wife's computer. There are several mailboxes on the e-mail account. I was not able to get my mail from my mailbox, only saw some italic script telling me to go online to get my mail. I was already "online" so I went on and off and on again and nothing changed. So I noticed the "rebuild" option and clickd on it, not sure what it might do but it sounded promising. Well all the email in my inbox disappeared and around 12,000 others that my wife and I shared. Can I recover them?

Aug 26, 2014I run Mail 7.3 on OS 10.9.4. I have 3 different mailboxes and Mial stopped sending from the different mailboxes and uses only one. I went to preferences and ensured this specific mailbox was not selected but that the setting to send from the selected mailbox was used. I even tried to use a different setting, selecting to send from a specific mailbox...still the same. Send always from the same one whatever the parameter selected.

Jul 31, 2009I HAD Gmail and Mail working perfectly, until i sent an email too "large" for someones Yahoo inbox.
All **** broke loose, ended up starting from scratch. Have done now 10 times.
Everything seems to be working fine, i'm getting emails through etc. But, next to my Gmail mailbox is the constant loading circle; either the Pie or the Spinning spokes thing.
The loading circles change every time i open Mail, although they are CONSTANTLY there and won't budge -

What does this mean? Im so frustrated because i had Mail up and running fantastically before the attachment mishap, now its refusing to go my way. It functions fine from what i can tell, just the loading circle (both instances) is getting on my nerves!
Software :: Won't Find Old Mail Box / After Rebuild Mailbox
Feb 6, 2006I had my Uni mail account as well as my hotmail account working through Mac OS X mail (Tiger 10.4.4) and managed to accidentally rebuild my mailbox. This resulted in the inbox appearing empty. Since then, I have not been able to get the inbox to show me my old mail. I may be able to get new mail (not yet verified) but I sure as hell would like the other mail there as well. Additionally the rebuild was done accidentally and NOT because the mailbox was ridiculously full. Anyone know how to "reverse" the rebuild procedure? Or at least to get the mail back?

Jun 19, 2014I wanted to send a message and suddenly got notification that Mail app is unable to send the message using Yahoo server, which I noticed being listed as offline. I clicked on "check connection" and it showed Gmail IMAP and IMAP as well as Yahoo IMAP being connected while Yahoo SMTP not. On the right side of Yahoo SMTP Red "dot" there was the instruction, which recommended to check settings of the network connection as well as to make sure if the server supports SSL, and if "NO" - deselect it. I'm not as tech savvy so the marked part is just the Chinese language for me: what is SSL, how to check if the server supports it etc?

Jun 17, 2014Working offline during a flight, I created a new "Mailbox" -- i.e. a subfolder -- within an account in Mail and moved some messages into it. Back on the ground and reconnected with the Internet, that subfolder has disappeared, along with all the messages in it. Where did it go? Is it possible to recover it?
If it makes any difference, it was a Gmail account accessed via IMAP.

Jun 4, 2014I notice the Archive mailbox in Apple Mail has disappeared. I can find messages in that mailbox using Searchlight if I know the exact contents of the message or subject but I use this mailbox to store application licenses, etc., and do not always know the right subject. I used to browse, knowing roughly the time when I bought the licese. Also the Flagged mailbox is grayed out in the favorites line and not shown in the left hand mailbox side bar.Also a pain because I set reminder messages and conference call emails with colored flags.

Aug 28, 2009I have a problem with my mailbox. I have a Macbook and sometimes when I receive a large email, like more than 1 MB, I stop receiving emails. It seems as if my mailbox is blocked.
In the past, when this happened I would log on to my PC at home and it would download all the emails from my mailbox up to the last email I received on my macbook (the large one that caused the block) and then when I open my mail on my macbook again, I can receive emails again.
Unfortunately I don't have a PC at home anymore to use this method to unblock my mailbox. Does anyone have advice how I can unblock my mailbox on my macbook without having to open my mailbox on another computer?
