I want to create stacks for my Applications and put them in the dock by type. Utilities, Music & Video, iLife, etc. I think what I will do is make aliases for all the applications and put them in subfolders separate from the Applications folder, so then I have these 3-6 subfolders in my dock as stacks that I can display in Grid or Fan mode. And I don't have to see all my applications in one jumbled Grid and search for them.
Yes, I know Spotlight or QuickSilver could access them differently.
My question is, when I have created this duplicate system with the aliases to the apps, how do I remove the Alias (arrow) portion of the icon so that they look just like the actual icon down in the stack (or in my subfolders, etc)?
How can I check to see if I properly transfered from moblile me to Icloud? The reason for the question is when I tried to send an email from Iphoto, my only option was mobile me.

When I upgraded to 10.5.2 a .Mac icon was placed in the menu bar. I don't use .Mac so I'd like to get rid of it but I can't figure out how. Every other icon in the menu bar can be removed/changed via System Preferences except for the .Mac one as far as I can tell.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of icons in my menu bar and I thought I saw reference to an app one can run that only has like one menu bar action that will free up most of the space so one can see the other menu bar icons. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Symantec Anti-Virus and it automatically puts an ugly icon in the menu bar. I already have a few things up there that i like/need and don't want the symantec button, but symantec doesn't give me the option to not display the button in the menu bar.
I would like to know if there is a way to override this? I would really appreciate being able to get rid of that little button.

I used my Macbook Pro's Time Machine to restore everything on the iMac that I received. However, the battery icon is showing up on the menu bar (in between the bluetooth and airport). View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently uninstalled vmware fusion and afterwards noticed that the little icon on my menu bar is still there.
I tried clicking on it to get to the "applications menu settings" section, where I could presumably remove this, but since I uninstalled it doesn't do anything.
I also tried holding command and dragging it off the menu bar - nothing.
My googling has given me solutions for it, but only if the software is still installed. Is there some way around having to re-install it to fix this? That would be a pain because I no longer have the disc.
Maybe there's some file I can delete or something I can kill via terminal?
I'd like to disable the 'stop recording' button on the menu bar during screen capture on 10.6.I know that Quicktime X doesn't have the option of changing preferences and I've seen some codes out there that will alter certain preferences, but not this one.

I'm using a new iMac (OS 10.7.4) and was wondereing if it possible to stop my machine from constantly changing the input menu from "Britsh" to "U.S.". This is the item with the small national flag icon in the Finder menu.
Is there a way of removing one of these options permanently, in my case remove the U.S. option?
