OS X Mavericks :: Mail Not Showing Archive Mailbox

Jun 4, 2014

I notice the Archive mailbox in Apple Mail has disappeared. I can find messages in that mailbox using Searchlight if I know the exact contents of the message or subject but I use this mailbox to store application licenses, etc., and do not always know the right subject. I used to browse, knowing roughly the time when I bought the licese. Also the Flagged mailbox is grayed out in the favorites line and not shown in the left hand mailbox side bar. Also a pain because I set reminder messages and conference call emails with colored flags.

OS X Mavericks :: Can't See Archive ICloud Mailbox In Mail

Jun 2, 2014

I'm using iCloud Mail. I can see the Archive mailbox on my iPod touch's Mail app, but on my Mail app in Mavericks the only mailboxes are Inbox, Sent, Junk, and Trash.  What can I do to make the Archvie mailbox visible in the sidebar on the right?

OS X Mavericks :: Exchange Mailbox Is Full But Can't Archive Messages From Local Machine

Aug 29, 2014

When archiving my Exchange account locally on my Mac, the server keeps syncing the messages back to my Mac! Ideally I would like my MacBook Pro to 'lead' the sync rather than 'combine'. I have tried many options including setting up a 'rule' which didn't move a single message! Also I tried copying all the messages, placing them in a local file & then deleting them from the inbox. But anything over around 10 messages, it just doesn't work! I have around 3000 messages I need to archive & cannot do it ten at a time. Also if I try using the web account on a browser it only allows me to move around ten at a time...! I am running 10.9.4 using Mac Mail.

OS X Mavericks :: Mail Send Only From One Mailbox Out Of Three

Aug 26, 2014

I run Mail 7.3 on OS 10.9.4. I have 3 different mailboxes and Mial stopped sending from the different mailboxes and uses only one. I went to preferences and ensured this specific mailbox was not selected but that the setting to send from the selected mailbox was used. I even tried to use a different setting, selecting to send from a specific mailbox...still the same. Send always from the same one whatever the parameter selected.

OS X Mavericks :: Delete Blocked Mail Mailbox?

OS X Mavericks :: Customizing Mailbox Views In Mail?

Jun 19, 2014

I wanted to send a message and suddenly got notification that Mail app is unable to send the message using Yahoo server, which I noticed being listed as offline. I clicked on "check connection" and it showed Gmail IMAP and IMAP as well as Yahoo IMAP being connected while Yahoo SMTP not. On the right side of Yahoo SMTP Red "dot" there was the instruction, which recommended to check settings of the network connection as well as to make sure if the server supports SSL, and if "NO"  - deselect it.   I'm not as tech savvy so the marked part is just the Chinese language for me: what is SSL, how to check if the server supports it etc?

OS X Mavericks :: Recover A Mail Mailbox That Disappeared?

Jun 17, 2014

Working offline during a flight, I created a new "Mailbox" -- i.e. a subfolder -- within an account in Mail and moved some messages into it. Back on the ground and reconnected with the Internet, that subfolder has disappeared, along with all the messages in it. Where did it go? Is it possible to recover it?

If it makes any difference, it was a Gmail account accessed via IMAP.

OS X Mavericks :: Apple Mail Search Not Searching Gmail Archive?

Aug 28, 2014

I recently got a new iMac and backed up from Time Machine.  Everything is fine apart from Apple Mail, which no longer searches my Gmail archive.  The archive is still there, all 33,000 messages, but just not searchable.

So, for example, if I got an email from a guy called George a month ago, when I search 'George' nothing comes up.  I can manually go to the Archive and find the email but obviously that takes a lot of time.

Is this an Apple issue or a Gmail issue?  Given that I run the same account on my laptop and it's all working fine, plus it was working fine before, I would assume it;s an Apple fault.

OS X Mavericks :: How To Avoid Messages Going Automatically To Archive Folder In Apple Mail

Sep 1, 2014

I've been using Apple Mail (version 7.3 (1878.6)) on my MacBook Pro 13" (9,2) (MacOS 10.9.4) for years to integrate my GMail, university, and other e-mail accounts in the imap mode. Since some weeks, Mail is behaving odd: some messages are sent automatically to the archive folder. That's quite annoying, as I have to move them manually back to the inbox folder, and sometimes I mess some messages. I did not change any config in Apple Mail or my e-mails servers.

OS X Mavericks :: Apple Mail Shows Duplicate Message In Sent Mailbox

Jun 1, 2014

I have sent a message with Apple Mail 7.3 on Mac with OS X Mavericks 10.9.3, and it shows DUPLICATED in the Sent mailbox of Mail. I mean, two entries with the very same message inside are displayed, yet, as said, I only sent it once! I am using POP.

Selecting "Mailbox - Rebuild", quitting and opening Mail, repairing permissions with Apple Disk Utility, restarting the Mac, and even resetting the PRAM does not fix it. I have seen the following article, but cannot find the "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks that it indicates: How to Fix Duplicate Emails Sent From Apple Email..URL....

how to prevent this duplication behavior (beyond deleting one of such messages, which, of course, I can do); I mean, to fixing whatever is corrupted and prevent such behavior happening again in the future? What is the equivalent of "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks to do what indicates the above article?

OS X Mavericks :: Mail Inbox Showing Recipient Name Instead Of Sender

Jun 5, 2014

I''m using Mac Mail for all my mail account (4 of them) and they all work perfectly except for one of my account that is connected through Exchange. The problem is that all the mails are showing my name instead of the sender's name. Every time is switch to another mailbox and comeback to this one (which is my professional mailbox), inbox shows sender's name for 2 minutes, until it refreshes itself. Then, it goes back to showing my name instead of sender's name.  OS X Version 10.9.3 (13D65)

OS X Mavericks :: Why Is Apple Mail Not Showing Older Messages

Aug 24, 2014

I live and die by my mailbox, I'd been using MS Outlook but it was fraught with too many bugs. A few months ago I decided to switch to Apple Mail as a lesser of two evils. I saw the demo for Apple Mail on Yosemite and it looks like a very robust program. However for now, I still find Apple Mail limiting especially with Exchange services.. but I digress.

I archive all my mail and rely heavily on the "search" feature. I recently started to notice messages I was searching for were missing. Initially I wrote this off to user error, however today I looked in my Sent folder and my Archive folder to find that there was only 30 days worth of mail?! I began to panic as I logged into my Office 365 webmail, but found relief in that all my messages were still there. The issue seems to be that Apple Mail is not keeping or displaying messages older then roughly 30 days. I've been using Apple mail for almost three months, so these messages should be there.

OS X Mavericks :: Apple Mail Activity Not Showing In Viewer Window

Dec 11, 2014

The left column of Apple Mail viewer window has a function at the bottom allows you to see pop up the  "Mail Activity" but very little activity shows in there.  Nothing like the separate Activity function which you can open from under the drop down "Window".

Is the Mail Activity in the viewer window not working properly or is it supposed to show only very limited Mail Activity?

Would be convenient to not have to use the separate window for viewing Activity.

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Upload Contact Archive To ICloud

Nov 30, 2014

Through a mistake I deleted all my Contact info from my 2010 i7 iMac (Yosemite) and iCloud.

Because my 2 iPads and 2 iPhones are connected to iCloud all the Contact info is gone, zero.

I have a recent Contact Archive of that info and would like to upload it to my iMac or iCloud.

When I attempt to do this on my iMac using the 'Import' feature the address info shows for a second and disappears.

I have checked Permissions using Disk Utility.

Can I use Time Machine in any way to solve this?

I do have one iPad that has the original Contact info still on it, can that be useful in restoring to iCloud or my iMac?

OS X Mavericks :: Mailbox Not Deleting Emails

Aug 22, 2014

Bought a new 13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display back in June, and ever since I set it up, I've been having issues with mail.  Both issues relate to deleting messages, so I figure they're likely related.

First thing is, sometimes when I delete emails, close the program, they magically reappear in my inbox when I reopen mail.

The second thing is, if I close mail right after deleting an email, it gives an error message like 'The message “...” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — On My Mac”' and 'An error occurred while moving messages to mailbox “Trash — On My Mac”.

This never happened on my last Macbook Pro, which was the mid-2009 model, even though both laptops run Mavericks.  I'm assuming that it's some setting that I'm not aware of causing this issue.  I thought it was the fact that my iCloud account was set up to work with Mail, but I turned that off, and it's still doing this.

One of the funny things I've noticed, is that under Mail Activity, it will say "Incoming messages 12 of 48" or whatever number at the time, even when there are no new messages.  It never did this on my last laptop.

OS X Mavericks :: Have Lost Mailbox Contents

Jun 21, 2014

I've just moved from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, and all the mailbox contents (that is, those in boxes in "On My Mac") have vanished. I've tried going to user/Library/Mail/subfolder1 as others have suggested, but I don't have Mail in this Library folder. How do I fix this, if possible, via Time Machine backups? Or any other way, for that matter.

ICloud :: Archive IMAP Mail On Client?

Mar 25, 2012

I have used POP mail accounts for many, many years. I am unfamiliar with IMAP. The one reason I have not switched to IMAP was because I like to keep local copies of email. My email archive dates back to about 1994 or so. So now with iCloud I do not have the option of using POP. But, with POP It has been very helpful to have these digital (and fully searchable!) records for things like ordering parts for the grill to legal issues.

My question: can IMAP be configured to keep a local copy of emails in a "folder" (mailbox) on the client which is NOT synced up with the server? i.e., when the email is deleted from the server it is NOT deleted from the client computer.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Threading From Gmail Archive?

Jun 6, 2012

I've recently noticed that conversations that I've archived in a gmail acount are no longer being included when viewing a thread (conversation). If multiple messages from a conversation are in the inbox, they are included. If a message has been "deleted" (archived in the gmail account) it is not included in the conversation. I may be crazy but I seem to remember this not being the case earlier.

Since the gmail account is accessed using exchange, the "All Mail" folder (where archived messages are stored) is accessable.
