I did something really stupid... I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.
I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. How do I 100% get this unwanted mailbox in Mail?

All of a sudden another mailbox appeared in my list of mailboxes. It has the same name as another mailbox. There is nothing in it. I can't get rid of it!

So far today, we've got about 10,000 new messages in our mailbox but they're all old ones that were deleted long ago. If we try to delete them now, they come back again.
In sidebar, it displays devices, places, & search for. There are a few internet shortcuts under places. The links are broken and I am not able to remove the links from places.
I have never set up Time Machine on my Macbook Pro.I have several Mailbox's or Folders inside my email system or Mac Mail.I wanted to clear some of the less used folders out and so I exported them to another folder on my desktop. Then I deleted the folders or Mailbox's from inside the Email system or Mac Mail. When I went to the folder on the desktop to see the exported emails, there was nothing you could read, it was all jibberish or crazy characters. What did I do wrong and how can I retrieve those important saved emails?

My "smart" mailbox is showing messages from the "All Mail" folder of my IMAP account folder in addition to my Inbox. Is there a way to work around or stop this so I don't see duplicate messages in my smart mailbox?
I was trying to add my home folder to my dock from dragging it from the finder sidebar to the dock, but it wasnt draggable. It did drag, but it wouldnt stay in the dock, when I let go of the drag, it vanished in a puff of smoke. How do I get it back in the sidebar, it was pretty helpful over there. Just to be clear I'm talking about when I open a new finder window, I see a few folders under 'Places' --> Desktop, Applications, Documents and My name which is the home folder. Now all I see is Desktop, Applications, and documents. How do I get it back if possible, and when I do how do I put it on the dock? Next to apps and downloads folder? Nevermind I found out how to add it. CMD+, for finder prefs, and then sidebar. I still have no idea how to put the home folder on the dock now.
After performing a Time Machine restoration, the "Places" list in the Finder sidebar contains a folder icon that can not be selected or deleted. It does not appear on the list of places to show in Finder Preferences, so there is nothing to uncheck. How do I get rid of this erroneous icon?

When I select a message and press delete I get a warning saying:
The message ... could not be moved to the mailbox Deleted Messages POP Account
The destination mailbox Deleted Messages POP Account does not allow messages to be moved to it. I can drag a message to the 'On My Mac' folder and select delete and this removes the email - but seems wrong.
This is my first mac (first day), im used to a deleted message going to a bin which you choose to empty as and when.
For whatever reason, my finder sidebar has one of my thousands of files which has made its way into it. I'd like to get rid of this, but have tried finder prefs without success. Clicking on it just opens the file.file://localhost/Users/home/Desktop/Finder.tiff
I've just accidentally deleted the Hotmail mailbox from Mail. Mac says it's removed 'permanently' unless Time Machine is on, which is not. Does anyone know any other way I can add Hotmail to Mail again?
Have accidently added a file link to the sidebar in finder window for a film and really don't wan't it there! It's under Favourites. Can't remove the shortcut from the sidebar and have 2 now .how to get rid of them, really bugging me now! Tried highlighting them and just moving them to trash but it won't work...

I continue to get this error in Mail. "The Sent mailbox could not be created on the mail server. The local “Sent Messages (Wooden Diamond)” mailbox was created instead. Mail has changed your account’s Mailbox Behaviors preferences to use the local “Sent Messages (Wooden Diamond)” mailbox."

I've googled and search here, and I just can't find the answer to this.
I renamed one of my computers at home. Now both instances of it show up in the Shared section of the finder sidebar and I can't remove the old one. When I do a Get Info, it shows as a PC Server, but I can't actually access anything on it. Is there any way to keep this from showing up?
I accidentally moved "My Pictures" folder from the My Favorites sidebar in Finder, and I can no longer find the folder. I've searched "all my files" for a My Pictures folder and nothing has come up, not even in the trash (that I haven't yet emptied). I am wondering if there is anyway of getting this folder back, as I had several pictures and folders organized within that My Pictures folder. All of my pictures are somewhere still on my computer but even they are hard to locate now without them being in any folder. Would be difficult to have to re-organize every single thing that was in that folder.
I have tried go to Preferences-->Sidebar in Finder and deselect everything but the folder remains in my sidebar. I am unable to select/highlight the folder in Sidebar. I have tried to drag the folder into the trash or to my desktop, but nothing happened. I just remains in Sidebar. I have also tried to locate the folder anywhere on my computer/HD, but it's nowhere to be found.
I just deleted all my e-mail accounts and created a new one but when i reply some of the emails keep being sent from the old account. I looked everywhere to find some setting linked to that old account but i can't find it.For example:

A message I sent, with photos, was deleted. It keeps returning to the Recovered files multiple times.I delete message.I delete mailbox.till keeps returning. In conjunction with this, I cannt receive any new mail although i can send.
