ITunes :: Rescue Email Field Showing Error When Trying To Download
Apr 23, 2012
I'm getting security question prompts when I try to download from iTunes, and the "rescue email" field keeps getting a "please use a valid email address" error when I enter my email address. It's correct, no matter how many times I enter it.
I have some email addresses for various web addresses for my business web site and I just noticed that when sending an email to one of these, mac mail is showing my name in the To box.†Does anyone know where this gets pulled from so I can change it? I am not seeing it in the preferences for some reason.
I used to enjoy being able to look at the To field in mail - It was handy to quickly go through my spam folder. If things weren't To me they were junk.†How can I display the To in mail, specifically in the Junk folder?
A friend used my Mac a month ago and his email address often comes up in my FROM: email field. I am the default but I must hit it every once in a while and his email address is selected. When my recipient gets my message it's says it's from HIM. How can I delete his name so it isn't a choice in the FROM: email field? I looked in Mail preferences and his email address is NOT listen next to mine under Preferences>Accounts.
Please not this isn't happening in the TO: field. For that I'd just choose WINDOW>Previous Recipients>Delete.
If you have a contact in Addressbook (AB) with a nickname, if you also use Apple Mail (AM) and create a new email and start to type the contact's email in the TO field, AM will finish your typing giving you a list of related possible email addresses to choose from. The problem is that in addition to the email addressk AM adds the contact's nickname as opposed to it's firstname/lastname or even business name. We need a preference for this, per contact.
Example: In AB you have a contact:
Name: Jon Doe Company Doe Company Nickname: The Doester email: email@example.com
In AM you start to write an email: and type: "jon" and AM shows you a list of possible related emails one of which will be: "The Doester" [URL]Commentary: now if a casual email to a friend, this is OK. But what if this is a business oriented email and "The Doester" isn't appropriate? You can only stop the inclusion of "The Doester" by deleting it from the Nickname field in the AB. This is presumptuous on Apple's part, or a bug, that the Nickname should trump the first/lastname or company name.
I don't exactly know the answser to this. If we could easily choose which name to append in front of the email address (firstname/lastname, company name or nickname) that would be cool. Or maybe no name gets added if it has to be: all or nothing from a programming point of view. But having nickname as the primary, if it exists, can be a problem in certain correspondence IMHO.

I've recently bought my macbook pro. I can see my the music i have previously bought on my iPhone in iTunes but cloud symbol next to most music. When I try to play any of these or download new songs I get error message -45054. I have checked and have shared folder in Users which I understand is important for iTunes. I am running OSX 10.9.4.

I am trying to download MAC OSX 10.5 that I just purchased and my hard drive on the computer won't show up as a destination drive to download the software on. I erased the disk figuring that would help but it did not. Any ideas as to what the problem is .The computer is a PowerMac G5 1.8 mhz, 1GB RAM, 160MB HD.
I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address.†For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to firstname.lastname@example.org works.
But sending mail to email@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error: 554 554 5.7.1 <firstname.lastname@example.org>: Relay access denied (state 13).†
For internal DNS, I have: example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com†MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.
I am needing a playlist to populate, given that the comments field is blank and Im struggling to work out how to do it? Ive been making smart playlists to meet different criterias for a while now but this one im struggling on!
I am receiving an error 5.5.4 "Invalid Email address error code 17099 indicating that mail could not be sent for Account name: "Msn".†I have recently moved from a PC laptop and have been sent email messages to this account on my iMac successfully for several weeks. The email address in question is actively sending and receiving messages. I can receive email from that account.
Trying to re-install Twitter from the Mac App Store. When I click "install" I get a prompt to type in my Apple ID (pre-filled with email@example.com; NOT ME). When I type my correct Apple ID and password in I get an "Error -4" message followed by "Unknown Error" message.
I have NO clue who firstname.lastname@example.org is. My account has not been hacked (at least no unauthorized purchases have been made).  When I view my previously purchased apps, I see the whole list, Twitter, included...but I can't seem to download it.
Here's what I'm running:
Mac OS X 10.6.8 App Store 1.0.2 (63.1)
Here's what I've tried. Signing out of the App Store and signing back in.Signing out of the App Store and not signing back in until I try to download the App. Signing out of iTunes (trying everything). Restarting. What else is causing these errors?
Very often I need to search a single track in an album and then I start my browsing just from that point, using the arrow keys. i.e. I did like this: select the search filed, type the keywords, select the track, empty the search field, press twice the tab key (one to activate the left column, the second one to activate the tracklist), in order to activate the selection I made and, eventually, use the arrow keys to browse the collection. Since some time ago, once that I've done my search, when I press the tab key, it activate the left column and then the tracklist, but it do not unselect the search field and so, if I use the arrow keys, the menu of the search field appears and there's no way to leave unselected the field.

I recently purchased The 99 Darkest Pieces of Classical Music from Amazon. Yeah, it's sucky MP3, but it was free and I'm not a big classical music buff. I have the Album Artist field empty, and every track marked as "Part of a Compilation". So far so good. When I go to change the Artist field of any track, to fix a misspelling or capitalization error, for example, that track is instantly dragged out of the track listing for 99 Darkest and into its own album, with the album name being Unknown Album. This despite the track still being marked as Part of a Compilation. If I restore the original spelling, the track is dragged back into 99 Darkest's list. It's not like iTunes to maintain state like that. What's happening and how do I fix it?
I Purchased OS X Lion from App Store and installed in same desktop but when I see Purchases in App Store its showing download, not showing install, all other apps like Twitter shows install. OS X Lion not installed correctly or any other problem?
