View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 24" imac that is about 9 months old and running on version: 10.5.7 OS X. I have my imac in one room in my house and the TV in the lounge. I have the use of my apple tv and the apple time machine which is all rigged up in the lounge next to the TV. I would like to have my imac connected to my TV so that I have on the TV my usual imac screen and can use the same as though i am at my imac. I would like it connected wirelessly. Is there a way that i can use the devices i currently have in place to do this, (apple tv, time machine), or do i need other equipment to do this.

I have searched endlessly on the internet on ways to connect my macbook to an rca inlet on a television but find the information to be outdated or all about hdmi. I would like to run a cable(s) from my mini display port to the rca jack on my television. I only have one HD compatible television so I would like to have a more flexible solution for the rest of the aging televisions in my domicile.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had a great macbook for about a year now and decided I want to attach it to my television. So I went to the store and bought this (special mac) cable that has a (I think) mini DVI connection in the computer that leads to a super video (SV) opening. Then I also bought a cable that starts with an SV (which goes into the mac cable) and ends in a scart which goes inside the TV. To the scart and SV cable there is also an audio cable attached which goes into the computer.
When I turn on the TV, I get the sound but nothing to see.. My computer doesn't detect an external display. I've tried everything: see if the cables are in well, put them in different in- and outputs, turn both the television as the computer on and off, mess with the computer's system preferences and the television's preferences.. And I've also looked on forums and I've just gone clueless!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my Macbook Pro to my tube TV. I connected the DVI to Video adapter to an S-video cable and connected the S-video cable to the TV. The television is not recognizing the Macbook Pro - the screen stays black. Do I need to change the settings on the TV or the Macbook Pro?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to watching streaming video on our television. How can I connect my 13" MacBook Pro to my TV to do this?

I recently obtained a Mac mini to use with my Sony LCD projection television (model number KDF-E55A20). To connect the two, I used a standard DVI to HDMI conversion cable. The picture looks great. I have connected the standard audio output of the mini to the audio portion of the HDMI port (#6) on the television using a cable that changes from the audio-out to RCA (red and white) cables. (I'm sorry I don't know what the name of this sort of cable is, but I know it is very standard).
The problem: I get no sound! To troubleshoot I connected my Powerbook G4 to the same HDMI port (using the provided adapter to connect to the same DVI to HDMI cable). Once I plug in the same audio cable as I tried to use with my mini, I get both picture and sound. It seems that the television inactivates the audio input component of the HDMI port if it picks up what it thinks is an HDMI input (since it is supposed to carry audio). But it is only getting DVI! So the problem is not with the mini as it produces audio normally. There's a setting (hopefully not hard-wired) with the Sony to inactivate the audio-in on HDMI input.
Can someone recommend a good script writing application for movies or television?

I have a Mac Mini, and recently I buy a television by Sony 3d (46"). For my surprise, the television don't accept the signal from Mac Mini. On the screen appears the message (Signal Incompatible). I change all configurations, but nothing. I call to Sony and they don't have idea about the problem.

I have a Macbook Aluminum and want to use my LCD TV as a monitor. I went to the Apple sotre yesterday and the guy said no problem just hook these up (I know it's video only not audio). So he gave me Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and the Belkin DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in set the TV to the HDMI an all I'm getting is my background on the TV. When I go to any other program like itunes, safari, anything nothing shows up.

I don't know what the deal is. I'm trying to install 2 sticks of 2GB into my 7,1 iMac, and the screw just won't turn. I'm using a standard Phillips head, and nothin' doin'. The screw is now starting to strip, so I guess I'm going to have to take this into the friggin' Apple Store just to have them open the thing.
Two questions regarding connecting the latest MacBook Pro and unable to connect to the television...
1. The below connection doesn't seem to work at all (OS or Windows)....
- Using a "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter"
- Then using a cord which is "HDMI" the other end is "VGA"
- TV input is VGA
[I am gussing perhaps it is either the cord is incompatible, or there is some driver required - which after searching, I am unable to find]
2. If I use Windows, is it possible to get this "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter" to work ?
I just bought an imac. I am trying to add the calculator to my dock. I cant figure out how.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to ssh from my new imac to remotely login to computers that my old powerbook is able to connect to using the same network. I know that there is no problem on the receiving end as I have had a number of conversations with IT team whi say my computer is not blocked and that they have no record of an attempt to remotely login from the ip address of my computer. When I try to ssh from my imac to any address I consistently receive the message port 22: connection refused. This message pops up instantly as if terminal isn't even attempting to connect. I suspect that there are some security settings on my imac, perhaps involving the firewall that are preventing me from sshing but I do not know what these settings might located or how I might change them.

So I recently installed my 120gb OCZ Agility 2 SSD into my superdrive bay and using a USB DVD drive but here are my issues, I can't rip a full dvd in Handbrake (it will rip up to 25 minutes and tell me its complete) and I can't play DVDs using the DVD player program. Was there a different way to format the SSD and relocating the home folder to the original 1TB drive?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf 10.5.7 does not fix the belief that wifi is causing freezes (or whatever it might be), we will be further down Apple's care list.
I used Totast Titanum 10 to burn the DVD's. The settings I used was to burn Data Disks with "Mac Only" or "Mac & PC". Before I eject the dvd-r after burning, I test the files burned in the dvd if they can be opened by the appropriate application directly from the burned dvd.
For example, I checked if .mv4 files can be played by either Quicktime, iTunes, MPlayer OSX Extended, or VLC; checked if disk images can be mounted and files on mounted disk can be opened; and checked if unencrypted movies that I personally own (using MacTheRipper 3.0) with Video_TS and Audio_TS folders that were compressed by DVD2OneX 2.3.1 can be played on Apple DVD Player.
Whenever I turn on my computer, I see a flashing folder icon, occasionally interspaced with a globe icon. I read elsewhere that this lasts for several minutes, but it can go on for an hour without pause. I tried booting up from my install disc, but couldn't get the computer to acknowledge it.
I was able to start installing with a 10.5 upgrade disc, but was unable to complete it because the computer did not already have 10.4 or later on the HD (for the record, I was on 10.5.8 before it crashed). I tried restarting it from the Network.
I can't even access my HD through a firewire cable; the HD simply won't show up on the host computer's screen. I'm pretty sure this means that my HD is hosed, but I thought I'd ask to make sure.
