MacBook :: Aluminum - Television Connection - Video Only Not Audio

Feb 5, 2009

I have a Macbook Aluminum and want to use my LCD TV as a monitor. I went to the Apple sotre yesterday and the guy said no problem just hook these up (I know it's video only not audio). So he gave me Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and the Belkin DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in set the TV to the HDMI an all I'm getting is my background on the TV. When I go to any other program like itunes, safari, anything nothing shows up.

Mac Mini :: Sony Television (DVI To HDMI) No Audio

Jun 9, 2007

I recently obtained a Mac mini to use with my Sony LCD projection television (model number KDF-E55A20). To connect the two, I used a standard DVI to HDMI conversion cable. The picture looks great. I have connected the standard audio output of the mini to the audio portion of the HDMI port (#6) on the television using a cable that changes from the audio-out to RCA (red and white) cables. (I'm sorry I don't know what the name of this sort of cable is, but I know it is very standard).

The problem: I get no sound! To troubleshoot I connected my Powerbook G4 to the same HDMI port (using the provided adapter to connect to the same DVI to HDMI cable). Once I plug in the same audio cable as I tried to use with my mini, I get both picture and sound. It seems that the television inactivates the audio input component of the HDMI port if it picks up what it thinks is an HDMI input (since it is supposed to carry audio). But it is only getting DVI! So the problem is not with the mini as it produces audio normally. There's a setting (hopefully not hard-wired) with the Sony to inactivate the audio-in on HDMI input.

MacBook :: New Aluminum Video Edit Well?

Jan 31, 2009

I want to buy one, but I am not sure if it's abilities are limited. I know if I go with the MBP then I can for sure but if I can just do what I need with the regular MB I wanna do that. I wanna be able to video edit movies that I make. Generally 1-2 hours in length. I don't really need to be able to do special effects or whatever. What specs would be good for this? Also, I have never owned a Mac before. What software should I buy with it in order to do this?

MacBook :: Video Chat Skipping And Very Low Volume On Aluminum Macbook

Apr 23, 2009

I just bought the 2.0 ghz 2 gb ram aluminum mac book.

When I video chat, its always skipping and very pixalated. Also, the volume is very low even though all volume meters is as loud as possible. This is only for video chat, for all other sound its great.

My question is, is this a ram thing? Should I buy for ram, will it fix it?

Is this something I should bring into Apple about?

Applications :: Convert SWF Files To MP3 - Free Audio Extraction Or Video / Audio Converter Exist?

May 29, 2010

I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

MacBook :: No Audio Transmit Through HDMI Connection

Jun 22, 2012

I've connected my macbook 6.1 to my HD TV via a mini display port to HDMI cable. The picture is fine however I don't have any sound! Will I need a separate connection for audio on the macbook version I have (I know the newer ones are able to transmit picture and audio through the HDMI connection). Or this this a fault with the cables I have?

Concerning The Difference Between A Hd 7200 And 5400. Saw In Some Webs Tests Comparing The 2 Hard Drives.. wd, hitachi, seagate. But They Are Always Based On Simple Tests When U Cannot Notice The Real Difference Between 7200 Vs 5400...and That Really Make Confused The People. The Difference Are Huge When Working N Digital Tasks..like Audio,video,3d..and So On..rather Than Office, copy A File,internet..and ********s Like That. In Logic Audio Pro U Can Perform With Up 10 Tracks More In 7200 Than In 5400,above All With The New 16 Mb/3 Gh.in Final Cut U Can Render Fluidly And Faster With A 7200 Than A 5400. Now,yes the Hard Drivers Get A Bit (just A Bit) More Noisy..gain More Temperature And In Some Cases Vibrate More. This Is The Truth. But In Other Hand, the Issues With 500 Hd 7200/5400..are Unfortunately Real. If U Got A Mbp (mid-09 Or Even Late 08),avoid Hard Drives With G-force P. At Least. MacBook Pro :: Getting Both Audio And Video Out Of 2009?

I had this working fine a few months ago, and then upgraded to a Pioneer elite stereo, now either audio or video work, but not simultaneously, even if I connect video to TV directly and audio to stereo directly, I can't get both to work it's either or.  I've set the stereo to accept the optical input, and as I said above, it doesn't even work if I connect the audio to the stereo only while the video goes to the TV.

MacBook :: TV Connection - No Video Shown With SVideo

Sep 13, 2009

I have a 13.3 inch White Macbook from late 2007. I have a Mini-DVI to Svideo and Composite connector and I've bought both an Svideo Cable and a Yellow male to male composite video cable. It seems I've tried almost everything and wasted hours but the most I've been able to get is: sound and a tripled, Greyish, grainy image of the movie on the TV. My tv doesn't have any other connections and with the svideo no picture shows up at all, just the sound. I've tried every display option on my macbook, tv and in my video player but nothing seems to work.

MacBook Pro :: HDMI Video And AV Audio But Not At Same Time

Dec 20, 2010

I have an early 2009 unibody 17-inch MBP and a new 2010 LG 50" LED HDTV (model PJ350). I got a mini displayport adaptor that allows me to connect the MBP to the TV using an HDMI cable. The video display is great but there is no sound, and I am aware only the new 2010 allow sound to go through to the TV and not my 2009 MBP. So I connected an AV cable through my MBP headphone port to the AV connection on the TV, but I get sound only on the AV menu. So if I select the HDMI mode I can only see video with no sound, or if I go to the AV mode I only get sound and no video. Is there any way I can see the video through HDMI while getting sound that is coming through the AV at the same time?

MacBook Pro :: OS X Yosemite (10.10) Cannot Play Audio Or Video

Dec 11, 2014

I'm talking about iTunes, YouTube, Facebook videos.. you name it, it isn't working. I can't load any videos or play any music. Nor can I hear any audio on things that were pre-loaded before the problem started. And it just happened out of the blue maybe an hour ago! I've tried reinstalling iTunes, my Shockwave player, my QuickTime player to no avail.

And just to be clear, I did check to see if my speakers were muted or not (they were/are not) and if my audio output's were funky (they don't seem to be). I'm about to restart my computer and see what happens then.

there is any way to get audio into the new display other than through the MDP connection. That would seem to leave us 2009 MBP owners out in the cold as far as audio is concerned.

Of course, it could be that the USB connection supports audio as well, but I'm leery because I haven't seen anything that indicates that.

OS X :: Can't Connect Macbook To Television

Jun 11, 2010

I have had a great macbook for about a year now and decided I want to attach it to my television. So I went to the store and bought this (special mac) cable that has a (I think) mini DVI connection in the computer that leads to a super video (SV) opening. Then I also bought a cable that starts with an SV (which goes into the mac cable) and ends in a scart which goes inside the TV. To the scart and SV cable there is also an audio cable attached which goes into the computer.

When I turn on the TV, I get the sound but nothing to see.. My computer doesn't detect an external display. I've tried everything: see if the cables are in well, put them in different in- and outputs, turn both the television as the computer on and off, mess with the computer's system preferences and the television's preferences.. And I've also looked on forums and I've just gone clueless!

MacBook :: Audio And Video Stuttering - Distortion And Kernel Panic

May 26, 2010

whenever I'm listening to music or watching a video after a while the audio will drop out, stutter, or become horribly distorted. If I pause the video or music for a second then start playing it again the output will be okay for a few seconds to a few minutes then stutter again. If I leave it stuttering the output will either eventually go back to normal or just stay stuttering or muted. Once or twice I've got a 'you need to restart your computer' kernel panic error (log attached/linked to below) and twice my computer has seemingly randomly restarted itself.

I know it's not an issue with my connection as it happens on locally stored files as well as streaming media. I know it's not a hard drive issue as I've had the problem across two different hard drives (I used the Migration Assistant to swap my stuff from one HD to another, presumably bringing across whatever causes the problem). I've had it with two sets of RAM as well. It happens whatever web browser (for streaming media) or music/video player I use for local files. If I restart the computer I get a longer period of time before the stuttering starts, and it gets more frequent the longer I leave my computer running - a RAM issue maybe? These screengrabs where taken either during or shortly after the stuttering had taken place. This top output is after a particularly bad stutter: and here is a log following a kernel panic: [URL]

MacBook Pro :: Audio And Video Via HDMI To External Monitor With Lid Closed

Sep 12, 2014

I would like to run a Macbook Pro Retina (2014) with the lid closed and all video and audio via HDMI routed to an external monitor (Samsung Syncmaster from 2010). Is this possible? When I try this, no sound is transferred to the external monitor and I cannot operate the Macbook Pro with the lid closed. As soon as I close the lid, it cuts the signal to the external screen.  I’ve tried looking for previous posts but they’re about MCP’s connecting via Thunderbolt or DVI.
