I have a 24" imac that is about 9 months old and running on version: 10.5.7 OS X. I have my imac in one room in my house and the TV in the lounge. I have the use of my apple tv and the apple time machine which is all rigged up in the lounge next to the TV. I would like to have my imac connected to my TV so that I have on the TV my usual imac screen and can use the same as though i am at my imac. I would like it connected wirelessly. Is there a way that i can use the devices i currently have in place to do this, (apple tv, time machine), or do i need other equipment to do this.
Is there a way to have the display show on the TV instead of the monitor itself? Also what would I have to buy in order to have this happen, please point me in the right direction.
I have borrowed a friend's cables to see if I can connect my macbook to my LG television. I have the apple mini DVI to HDMI cable and the belkin HDMI to DVI cable and the television tuned to hdmi1 channel - there is only one hdmi port but i've checked all the input settings, Should i be changing any settings on my macbook? The tv is just showing as no signal and it's driving me mad!
I have had a great macbook for about a year now and decided I want to attach it to my television. So I went to the store and bought this (special mac) cable that has a (I think) mini DVI connection in the computer that leads to a super video (SV) opening. Then I also bought a cable that starts with an SV (which goes into the mac cable) and ends in a scart which goes inside the TV. To the scart and SV cable there is also an audio cable attached which goes into the computer.
When I turn on the TV, I get the sound but nothing to see.. My computer doesn't detect an external display. I've tried everything: see if the cables are in well, put them in different in- and outputs, turn both the television as the computer on and off, mess with the computer's system preferences and the television's preferences.. And I've also looked on forums and I've just gone clueless!
I'm after the easiest way I can link my Macbook to my TV so that I can use it to play dvds (if that's possible). The Macbook spec is as below and the TV has the usual connections (video, audio right speaker, audio left speaker, scart).
How do I connect my 2008 Intel 20" iMac to my 2005 Philips/Magnavox analog crt television for streaming online content? The tv has both rca & s-video connections, whilst the mac has mini-dvi.
I have an Imac. i want to transfer a television episode that my brother bought on itunes from his account on the mac onto mine. I searched the hard drive for the episode but i am still unable to download the episode. i have done this with other episodes.
I have the latest release of the 13 Macbook Pro. I have searched endlessly on the internet on ways to connect my macbook to an rca inlet on a television but find the information to be outdated or all about hdmi. I would like to run a cable(s) from my mini display port to the rca jack on my television. I only have one HD compatible television so I would like to have a more flexible solution for the rest of the aging televisions in my domicile.
Need to connect my Macbook 13" to television. I have the newest Macbook. What are the connection options? mini DVI to VGA? mini DVI to composite or sVideo? What is the best option here and what sort of adapter do I need?
I'm trying to connect my Macbook Pro to my tube TV. I connected the DVI to Video adapter to an S-video cable and connected the S-video cable to the TV. The television is not recognizing the Macbook Pro - the screen stays black. Do I need to change the settings on the TV or the Macbook Pro?
I recently obtained a Mac mini to use with my Sony LCD projection television (model number KDF-E55A20). To connect the two, I used a standard DVI to HDMI conversion cable. The picture looks great. I have connected the standard audio output of the mini to the audio portion of the HDMI port (#6) on the television using a cable that changes from the audio-out to RCA (red and white) cables. (I'm sorry I don't know what the name of this sort of cable is, but I know it is very standard).
The problem: I get no sound! To troubleshoot I connected my Powerbook G4 to the same HDMI port (using the provided adapter to connect to the same DVI to HDMI cable). Once I plug in the same audio cable as I tried to use with my mini, I get both picture and sound. It seems that the television inactivates the audio input component of the HDMI port if it picks up what it thinks is an HDMI input (since it is supposed to carry audio). But it is only getting DVI! So the problem is not with the mini as it produces audio normally. There's a setting (hopefully not hard-wired) with the Sony to inactivate the audio-in on HDMI input.
I am looking to connect my new Alu MacBook to my Television. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out as to what cords to buy in order to do that.
I have a Mac Mini, and recently I buy a television by Sony 3d (46"). For my surprise, the television don't accept the signal from Mac Mini. On the screen appears the message (Signal Incompatible). I change all configurations, but nothing. I call to Sony and they don't have idea about the problem.
I have a Macbook Aluminum and want to use my LCD TV as a monitor. I went to the Apple sotre yesterday and the guy said no problem just hook these up (I know it's video only not audio). So he gave me Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and the Belkin DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in set the TV to the HDMI an all I'm getting is my background on the TV. When I go to any other program like itunes, safari, anything nothing shows up.
What has changed in IOS 10.7.3, when MacBook Pro connected to television with HDMI cabel and Thunderbolt adapter? It was working earlier, but not any more!

Does anyone have a clue if it is possible to connect an esata device to an iMac? I've seen usb to esata adapter but are they as fast? Is it worth it compared to firewire 800?I do hd video on my portable hdd, so i need something fast.
First i want to apologize for my bad english. Soon i will buy an iMac - the 21,5' version. I nave an old 29 CRT Samsung TV with S - video input, scart input and RCA input. My idea was to connect the iMac with the TV through the S - video input by using the apple's video adapters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and Apple DVI to Video Adapter. But when i saw the pictures of these adapters i saw that my idea is impossible, because the connection between them is impossible because of the 4 additional pins in one of the adapters - Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. My question is how can i connect my TV with the iMac through the s - video port on my TV?
I bought an iMac and have been loving it but one thing I can't figure out how to fix is why it can't connect to the internet through my Ethernet cable. My PPC G4 connects just fine. I've googled and found nothing that helps. I tried deleting my system preferences but that didn't help. It just says there is no Ethernet cable connected even though it clearly is. I can't try with wifi because for some reason anything running OS X can't connected to my homes wifi. Not sure if this matters but it's a 27" iMac, 3.03 ghz intel with 1tb hard drive.
2.8ghz Al iMac running Leopard 10.5.2 I can see my windows PC under "shared", but I cannot connect to it. After entering the username and password used on the PC, I get "connection failed". If I try to connect using the "command-K" method, I get an message saying "you do not have permission to access this server" after entering my username and password. I also cannot connect as a guest even though I have enabled the guest account on the PC. The PC and iMac are in the same workgroup. I have file sharing turned on the iMac and can access the iMac from my PC with no problems at all. In Tiger, I was able to access to the PC using "command-K". Any ideas? I'm stumped. I feel like I've tried everything.
I've got a couple of week old imac and I'm having huge internet issues. Pages don't load fully and sometimes don't load at all. No problems on my macbook.
I'm trying to help my mom transition from her old iMac to her new one. She doesn't have a firewire cable, so we can't do target disk mode.Is there any other way (ethernet, USB) to transfer her files?
I've searched the forums but did not find much on the topic. I want to use ChronoSync to synchronize files between my iMac and MacBook Pro. I would like to accomplish this through FireWire, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I know about Target Mode, but I don't think this is what I want to do. I would like to be able to mount the iMac on the MBP and vice versa - can this be done? I have the FireWire cable all ready but I'm not sure what I need to configure to get them to "see" each other.
