View 18 Replies View RelatedInitially, the trash container worked as expected: Items would go directly to the trash and stay there until I emptied it.
I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince getting a new iMac with Lion, I have noticed that frequently the screen will shift sideways without warning, when the mouse has moved only slightly, and disappear. Sometimes there is an arrow in the lower righthand corner that allows retrieval of the lost screen, but not always. This causes particular problems when my son is doing schoolwork online -- sometimes the answers he had put down to questions will be gone when we retrieve the screen, or answers to matching-type questions will be scrambled. Is there a way to stop the screen shifting sideways?

I just upgraded to Lion, on a MacMini, and now everytime I use sleep mode, I can't wake my lion up again because key presses or mouse clicks don't work anymore. I can still move the pointer, but OS does not respond anymore to mouse clicks or keyboard. Have to power down, then start up again. Keyboard & mouse then work until the next time the lion sleeps.
This is quite annoying, as I'm an intermittent style of user who relies on sleep mode a lot.
Lion is nice when it works, but it has introduced problems I've never had before. And booting into Lion is way slower than Leopard or Snow Leopard were. At least double the time, or more.
Should mention I'm also using a Logitech denovo wireless keyboard and a Logitech M570 wireless trackball.
Connecting a standard USB keyboard and/or mouse, once the lion has gone to sleep, does not solve anything. The OS still does not respond.

When my macbook is awoken from standby the trackpad moves the cursor around as normal but will not respond to a tap or a click. A restart won't get it working again, but a little later it will start working once more. At the moment I can't identify what gets it going, possibly by clicking using the magic mouse but can't be certain of that.

I've turned off all tap to select options but my trackpad still selects and drags when I wiggle my thumb on the bottom of the trackpad, where you generally click. I have a 2010 MacBook Air. Is my trackpad broken, or is there a way to turn this off?

I just got a MacBook Pro, and the button being part of the trackpads touch area is cusing me problems. Freuently when I go to click the button it moves the cursor slightly causing the click to be in the wrong place.
Is there a way to turn off the lower area of the trackpad or something? Can I replace it with a trackpad with a seperate button?

I have an iMac that I have a second display hooked up to it. I can move an app (say Safari for example) from one display to another with my Magic Mouse. However, I also have a Magic Trackpad that I would like to do the same thing with, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to do it. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with my Macbook Pro for quite some time now, and it's absolutely infuriating. So far, I've found no solution. As it is out of warranty, I am loathe to take it to the Apple store, but I am beginning to fear I will have no choice. I've got an early 2008 15" MBP with the NVIDIA 8600M GT 512. It spends most of its time in use as a desktop machine, with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor connected, so I don't notice the problem often. However, any time I take my Mac mobile, I am plagued by this issue. What happens is that, seemingly at random, the keyboard and trackpad will completely stop functioning. The only way to get around the problem is to connect a mouse and reboot, which returns things to normal for a few minutes, then it happens again. If I have no mouse, I have to force-shutdown, as the power key still works.
Sometimes the keyboard and trackpad will shut down all at once, and sometimes they will fluctuate for a while, with keystrokes not registering and trackpad motions not happening. Sometimes keys will stick (not physically) sending a character repeating across the screen until I hit another key. But, in the end, the result is the same: no input functionality, necessitating a reboot. Sometimes I am able to use my MBP for long periods without a problem. Sometimes it happens within minutes. It happens when it's hot, it happens when it's not. There seems to be no real consistency. For a long time I thought that it was a software issue as it never happened while booted into windows. But recently it has happened while booted into Windows 7, though it never happened in XP. The motherboard has been replaced recently, and the issue did not go away.
I have a 46 gig itunes music folder that I had moved from my PC to a NAS several months ago. I set up itunes to have the music folder on the Macbook that I use day-to-day point to the songs on the NA. The songs link to the respective folder on /Volume/Music/Artist/Album/song The NAS has been having issues staying connected so I just moved all new songs (I had kept at least 44 gigs on the PC as a backup when I did this 6 months ago) from the NAS to the PC. I finally figured out a way to reliably connect to the PC (running Win7) from the Macbook via SMB. The songs are now located on Volume/iTunes Music/Artist/Album/Song My question is - how do I instruct itunes that the songs are now located on the PC rather than the NAS? Should I just 'delete' all files in iTunes and then add the PC's folder? Is there a better way??

I restarted my MBP to install some updates and when I started working on it again I noticed that the trackpad gestures had stopped responding. This has happened to me before but I have no idea why. I know that when I reboot it again, that they will start working again, but it's annoying to restart everytime the gestures stop working.

I can't tell you how many times I've dragged something into the wrong folder because suddenly there's a different folder underneath my cursor. Is there any way to turn this off? After a few hours of uptime, certain keys on my keyboard stop working and I have to reboot: both command keys and the zero key. Sometimes, after the computer has been in sleep a long time, the keyboard and mouse don't respond at all. I can get the computer to wake up again by pressing the power key, but the mouse and keyboard don't respond, so I can't do anything except hard boot. This problem first appeared after the update to 10.10.1. (I'm dealing with it right now, so I'm getting the '0' through the keyboard viewer, but there's no way to access that from the password screen.)
