When I try to open the Mail program, I get the following message:
"There is a problem saving information about your mailbox. It may take awhile to determine the problem..."
Then: Quit or Quit and rebuild Index.
I have talked to my ISP and they believe that it is an apple issue.

Having recently upgrade to OS X, when I click on the Mail App, it open saying something about "upgrading existing emails...", the box then closes and nothing happens. It does this every time I try to open Mail. I've deleted my gmail account profile through System and rebooted, but no joy.

I tried to hide Finder from the application switcher (⌘ + tab) but this didn't work so well. I edited the 'Info.plist' file for finder.app and I tried restoring, removing the lines etc and this just is not working. Each time I boot my mac even under different users I am greeted by 'Finder quit unexpectedly' and no matter what I select (out of 'Ignore' 'Report' or 'Reopen') it keeps bringing itself to the front of all windows. Should I re-install Mac OS Lion? If so, is there a way for me to keep personal files and applications? Should I visit my Apple store and hope a genius can fix this?

When opening a PDF in Acrobat x Pro the programme crashes, ever since I did a software update at the end of March 2012.I have also been having problems with emailing PDFs, with emails disappearing or getting corrupted.Seems worse if I have Firefox open at the same time.

I have a Macbook Pro (13") running snow leopard and have a partitioned hard drive (half OS X and half Windows 7). This morning I was using the Mac side and was running low on disk space (very low) so I was moving desktop files into folders to free up some space. I restarted the computer to see what the free space was but the computer stopped/froze at the desktop image (no folders or dock appeared. I restarted the computer many times but the finder never opens and all I see is the desktop wallpaper. I donnected usb drives and put in dvds but the finder never appears so I cn do nothing but shut down and start up.
I ran Disk Utility but it found no problems with the disk. I do not have a backup of the important file forlders on my drive and due to low disk space I am worried to reinstall and archive the OS since there may not be enough disk space to archive (only about 220 mb free on the apple side when I am in windows using bootcamp).

I am using OS X version 10.5.7. Mail version 3.6 (935/935.3) As of yesterday my Mail program has failed. The symptom is that in the left window under 'mailboxes" when the "get mail" button is selected, the process activates, But the search fails - as though there is no internet connection. None of the accounts receive their mail, and the circle containing the exclamation mark signal appear. (Note, there is email arriving at the ISP. I checked using the ISPs webmail facility. I've tried retyping the password in the Mail settings, it's done correctly, so are the other settings for the ISP, but no luck). Sends have been successful.
I was hoping to extract (or archive? whatever that means) the actual messages and settings, then reinstalling the mail application. However, it seems from reading some posts that it might be necessary to instal the whole OS X system afresh to achieve this result. Of further concern to me is that it might not be possible to separate the messages in the mail application from the application itself. I don't want to just backup the mail folder then reinstal it, as i suspect there is something wrong with that folder, so I would just be reintroducing the bug into the reinstalled OSX... which would defeat the purpose.
My IMAC Mail program will not open winmail.data file attachments. What program or additional software do I require to be able to open these files?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Mail Client on Mac OS 10.7.4 V5.2 1278 fails on send messages. The compsoe window reappears immediately after Send is selected. The mail message ends up in the outbox. This worked prior to may 1st. Some update has broken it.

If someone has me in their address book as Doe John and sends an email to me at my email address (johndoe@mail.com), Mail.app does not recognize me and asks me if I want to 'Add to Address Book'. The same happens if a sender has a minor change in the Name (such as even a dot in the name) of any recipient, regardless of the fact that I have the correct name in the address book. Mail fails to recognize the recipient even though the email address is identical, and will ask me if I want to 'Add to Address Book'. One would expect Mail to use just the email address and recognize the contact as already being in the Address Book.

I have several local .mbox files created with the Apple Mail client from 10.6.8 saved "on my Mac" after doing a clean install of Yosemite I am having trouble getting them to import. One is ~5GB the other is ~2.5 GB. a smaller one (66MB) with 300 items fails to fully import (gets only ~170 items).
Is there a better way to force the new mail client to read these or is there another mail program that can read these? These are important emails.

Running 10.9.3 on a MacBook Pro and just replaced the hard drive. I did a Time Machine restore and Mail is now hanging part way through the import. I saw a number of threads on this issue and and fixed permissions and deleted the Envelope Index files. Still no luck. I'm unsure what else I can do to isolate the problem. Is there anything that I can restore that would not require Mail to re-import?

Now, none of these files will open: Mail, Safari, itunes, iChat, Google Earth, Skype. The icon bounces ONCE, then...nothing. At first I thought it was only internet-linked applications, but I am able to run Firefox browser, as well as open other applications that don't link to the internet, .I have opened similar MOV files from the same source before, and no problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am converting from a Windows system to a Mac. The mail client on the Windows box is Outlook 2003. The mail on the windows box had been previously stored in a number of PST files using POP3. The recommended procedure to convert to the Mac is to first in Outlook 2003 convert from POP3 to IMAP. While in the middle of this procedure I got a message that the PST file that Outlook 2003 creates for the local IMAP store is full. Further, it is 97-2002 format file rather than the new type used as the default in Outlook 2003. In any case, I need to get the rest of the mail converted. Another issue is that viewing specific folders in the IMAP store on the Windows box results in an initial display of items, followed by the window being cleared, and the folder size function showing that the folder is empty. However, attaching to the IMAP store on the server from the Mac Mail program still shows the contents, so I think this is an anomaly of the poor implementation of IMAP in Outlook 2003. What do I need to do to get the rest of the POP3 mail into IMAP?

I've adjusted Spotlight preferences by unchecking all search areas and rearranging the order of search preferences so documents, files and contacts are the only areas to search and still no luck.
Syncing calendars between my iMac and devices continues to fail horribly.
It really never has functioned well from the Mountain Lion days. With Mavericks, Calendar syncing is useless. Must be rocket science!
If the system doesn't double everything up, it gets appointment times incorrectly.
Seems like Apple has determined that the iPad is Grand Lord of all calendar data—not the iMac. You can delete the data file on the iPad with SyncMac but the data is not gone. It remains in the iPad permanently waiting to take over.
This morning I used SyncMac to delete the data on the iPad to rid it of incorrect appointment times. Syncing again did nothing to fix the issue. Appointment times are all different and totally incorrect in the iPad compared to the correct data in the iMac.
I give up on the application. Print a blank calendar, have a pencil ready, and maintain your data the old fashioned way.
It used to just work. Not anymore and especially since iCloud which I will not use. I have no interest in giving my data to a second party in a foreign country so that they can grant me permission to access it. My clients don't agree to this arrangement. Nor do I.
Every time my iMac restarts or boots up, it brings me to the OS X installer page since last night.
I have done the disk utility check and my hard drive is ok. I then tried restoring from network which stops half way and reboot. I have also tried restoring from Time Machine but it has also stopped and rebooted several times.

I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). But others will not open or will take minutes to open (yahoo.com, mail.google.com, wunderground.com). Bizare for sure. Set up static IP address to find this mac on my network. No settings have changed since this system was set up a few years ago. Other PCs on my network work fiine. Also rebooted DSL modem, and router.
