I have the newest imac and had to have a new hard drive put in, and now when I try to send an email with gmail it won't go. I also downloaded OS X Yosemite also yesterday, so I don' know if my gmail isn't working because of the new hard , or the new OS X I downloaded.
I can send emails from my Ipad with no problem, but not from my Imac, and I,m only 5ft from the Imac.

I've set up my mail account perfectly down to the last detail in Mail. At first there was no problems. Now it doesnt want to send outgoing mail, why is this? Everything is in perfect order, nothing is changed. I just have to try a gazillion times to hit the "send" button before it works.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm having such a hard time syncing Gmail with Apple Mail now that I've done a fresh install of SL. First of all, in Gmail Settings, the instructions for setting up Apple Mail are for Apple Mail 3.0. But the Apple Mail with SL is 4.0. The instructions say to "Check the box next to Automatically set up your account." Pic of what I'm talking about: But my Apple Mail does not have that check box: Once it's setup it says it's supposed to look like this: Notice that it's POP and not IMAP? And in mine, once it's "automatically setup" it's IMAP and not POP: When I leave the settings as is, and try to send and receive mail I keep getting an error that says something like "Can't send mail on outgoing mail server". And when I change the outgoing server to POP I get the same error. I've tried everything, I've setup and deleted this e-mail account from Apple Mail at least 4 times now and I keep getting the same error.

The Mail Client on Mac OS 10.7.4 V5.2 1278 fails on send messages. The compsoe window reappears immediately after Send is selected. The mail message ends up in the outbox. This worked prior to may 1st. Some update has broken it.

I switched to Mavericks OS. Now, when I'm sending one (1) e-mail to one (1) e-mail address, for instance, I'm receiving a strange message under the outgoing mail progress bar (left bottom part of Mail finder window): "Outgoing Mails: 3 out of 3" or similar strange numbers but usually different form the number of recipients.

After many years of using Mail, my outgoing mail server is suddenly offline. My wife's mail, with identical settings is not offline. We do not use iCloud for our mail. I have several mail accounts and they all show outgoing (Offline). The outgoing mail server is SMTP.WEST.COX.NET. For me, of course you can add (Offline).

Running 10.9.3 on a MacBook Pro and just replaced the hard drive. I did a Time Machine restore and Mail is now hanging part way through the import. I saw a number of threads on this issue and and fixed permissions and deleted the Envelope Index files. Still no luck. I'm unsure what else I can do to isolate the problem. Is there anything that I can restore that would not require Mail to re-import?

When I try to open the Mail program, I get the following message:
"There is a problem saving information about your mailbox. It may take awhile to determine the problem..."
Then: Quit or Quit and rebuild Index.
I have talked to my ISP and they believe that it is an apple issue.

I have been using Mail for several years now. Always with my hotmail POP account.
Today it suddenly started downloading old emails that are more than 3 years old. And not just a few but thousands!
What can I do about this?
Syncing calendars between my iMac and devices continues to fail horribly.
It really never has functioned well from the Mountain Lion days. With Mavericks, Calendar syncing is useless. Must be rocket science!
If the system doesn't double everything up, it gets appointment times incorrectly.
Seems like Apple has determined that the iPad is Grand Lord of all calendar data—not the iMac. You can delete the data file on the iPad with SyncMac but the data is not gone. It remains in the iPad permanently waiting to take over.
This morning I used SyncMac to delete the data on the iPad to rid it of incorrect appointment times. Syncing again did nothing to fix the issue. Appointment times are all different and totally incorrect in the iPad compared to the correct data in the iMac.
I give up on the application. Print a blank calendar, have a pencil ready, and maintain your data the old fashioned way.
It used to just work. Not anymore and especially since iCloud which I will not use. I have no interest in giving my data to a second party in a foreign country so that they can grant me permission to access it. My clients don't agree to this arrangement. Nor do I.
Every time my iMac restarts or boots up, it brings me to the OS X installer page since last night.
I have done the disk utility check and my hard drive is ok. I then tried restoring from network which stops half way and reboot. I have also tried restoring from Time Machine but it has also stopped and rebooted several times.
My iMac is currently running OS 10.9.3
21.5-inch iMac With the following configuration:
2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB

Mail 3.6 on a PPC. I had a drive failure, I know it's sad...but have a backup of a previous system. I need to reinstall all of the e-mail addresses that spring up when I begin composing a mail..where do they live on my backup? I've tried <Previous system>Application support>Mail etc but can't find it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run Mail 7.3 on OS 10.9.4. I have 3 different mailboxes and Mial stopped sending from the different mailboxes and uses only one. I went to preferences and ensured this specific mailbox was not selected but that the setting to send from the selected mailbox was used. I even tried to use a different setting, selecting to send from a specific mailbox...still the same. Send always from the same one whatever the parameter selected.

I just moved to my new Macbook Air with Mavericks (from and older MBA with OS 10.7.5). When I clic the send button now on an outgoing message, it doesn't send immediately, something it did do with the older version of mail. Rather it spontaneously sends some time later.
How I can set it so that it sends the message immediately upon clicking "send"?

macmail mail will only load one outgoing GMAIL mail server. So I can load as many accounts as I want, receive mail in mac mail, but when i send mail it only comes from one of the outgoing gmail mail servers. The rest of the gmail mail servers show as being "offline."
