OS X V10.7 Lion :: IMac Turns Off By Itself / Does Not Want To Turns On Late
May 3, 20121.- The imac turned off by it self.
2.- I tried to turned on pressing the turn on/off button and it did not do anything.
3.- I disconected the computer form the wall and wait for some minutes, and it did no do anything.
4.- After about 20 minutes i tried again and turned on by pessing the on and off button.
5.- The imac turned off again and disconected form the wall and conected to another electrical contact at the wall, adn it did not turned on. i wait for some minutes and turned on again, but after about five minutes it turned off again.
6.- I left the imac connected to the wall for a couple hours and i tried to turned onn by pessing the on/off button and it did not turned on.
7.- I left all night connected form the wall and tried to turn it on this morning and it did not turn on.
8.- This time, I only disconnected the imac cord form the back of the computer and left it for a couple of hours, then I concected and turned on
9.- All the times that the computer turned on it started like a restart and no announce or windows appear telling me about an error or something like that.
10.- One of the times I touched the computer at the back and felt it hot, not too hot, but I do not how normal is.
11.- I can feel some very, very little air at the back form the vent.
What do I hve to do? What kind of tests can I do to know if the computer's an is working ok?

Sep 3, 2010Macbook pro intel core duo. My macbook is turned off, when I press the power button the light goes on and the computer starts making sounds of turning on for about half a second and than shuts off. I tried removing the battery and putting it again, I tried to hold the power button (the light flickers at one point and eventually shuts off as well after 2 seconds), and tried turning it on with the adapter plugged in and unplugged.

I tried reseting the pram with no success. I deleted the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file. but it still doesn't turn off, only the monitor. I've set it to 1 minute but only the monitor will turn off. Manually putting the computer to sleep work's fine.

Feb 9, 2012While working on the computer, sometimes the screen will turn gray (from top to bottom) and a message will appear saying the computer must be restarted.So far the local Apple store has not been able to find the problem. The last solution the store tried was to replace the Airport Card, but that didn't work. Computer was purchased in December 2011.

MacBook Pro :: Computer Says 'battery Not Found' And Only Turns On While Plugged In
Feb 28, 2012While unhooking my battery, I accidentally touched the metal contacts near the battery cable connector on my mid 2009 with a screw driver. My computer says 'battery not found' and only turns on while plugged in.  The computer doesn't detect a battery in the system profiler. Will buying a new battery resolve my issue?

MacBook Pro :: Computer Starts With Gray Apple Screen Then Turns White
Sep 29, 2010I am trying to fix a friends macbook pro. When I turn it on the screen shows the apple and the spiral underneath it spinning like it should then when it stalls for .2 seconds it goes to a white screen then there is vertical purple lines in groups across the screen. So the screen is white/purple. Then it fades to just white and I cant do anything.
I hooked up my monitor with a DVI cable to see if it was the motherboard that was possibly bad but the monitor works just fine with the cable. I can use the computer with the laptop keyboard/mouse and it works just fine. The laptop screen just stays blank the whole time. I uploaded a vid to utube for it. If anybody has any ideas for me please help. I dont know if this is a monitor problem or the inverter or the motherboard, possibly some other piece of hardware?

PowerPC :: Unable To Boot Powerbook / Gray Screen Turns Computer Back Off
Nov 1, 2006So I've got a powerbook G4, thats 8 days past its warranty. Conveniently, it now won't turn on. It won't wont boot from CD. If I turn it on, I get a gray screen that usually just turns my computer back off, if thats not the case I get a screen that shows the finder icon and a question mark and then turns off.
All it will do is boot into open firmware mode. Currently the install disc is inside of it and I've tried booting the cd using "cd:, bxi" and "dir hd", and it can't open both. Does anyone know how to wipe the HD, and start the installer using firmware? Otherwise, I think I'll have to take out the harddrive and plug it into an external case and then wipe it.

27' IMac (2011) Screen Turns Off
Jun 27, 2012This has been going on for me for the past few months on and off, it just randomly switches the screen off but everything else works perfectly, for example if im watching a video on hulu i can still hear the sound, if im doing work on word the documents are still there, iv finally gotten video footage of it. url...To turn it back on i press "ctrl + shift + eject" and then move the mouse. i have contacted Apple support on the phone they did say bring it in, just need to make an appointment. If anyone else has this problem and knows a better solution than having to keep pressing buttons to turn the screen back on please share.

MacBook Pro :: When Waking From "sleep" Screen Turns Grey Under The Pointer And The Computer Is Effectively Dead?
Mar 7, 2012When waking from "sleep" the screen appears normal but, the pointer leaves a trail of grey as it moves and the whole screen will turn grey if I keep moving the pointer. The computer is effectively dead. Have to shut down by using power off for six seconds and then re-starting. I know little about computers!

Sep 28, 2009I have a 3.06 GHz, 4 GB, iMac running 10.6.1. and I have a weird problem: while I was running Windows 7 under Boot Camp, during a simple task, my screen suddenly turned a solid shade of gray. Having no other option, I held the power button, turned off the computer, and turned it back on.
When I booted back to OS X, it happened again immediately upon opening iTunes. This time the color was solid black. Concerned, I turned off the computer, waited a moment and booted it back up in Safe Mode, where I currently have no problems whatsoever. From Safe Mode I repaired my disk permissions, cleared my caches, and zapped the PRAM while restarting my computer back into normal mode. Unfortunately the problem persists, this time my screen turning a solid shade of dark purple.
I'm going to call Apple Care in the morning, but has anyone heard of an issue like this? I searched the forums for a solution, but wasn't sure what terms to search for.
Software :: IMac Turns On And Suck At Apple Logo Screen
Jul 17, 2010Came home from work the other day and my iMac (20" iMac from '07 / Snow Leopard) was frozen, did a hard restart and it booted up fine without much of a problem. Everything was running very sluggish so I began to verify the disc through utilities at which point it froze again, now whenever I restart I get stuck at a white screen with apple logo and something spinning underneath it. The longest I've let it sit at that screen is about an hour or so, it gets extremely hot though so I'm hesitant to leave it any longer.
I've tried a few suggestions already, safe mode with no luck, disc target onto my macbook with no luck and I've tried "/sbin/fsck/ -fy" at the command prompt which returns something along the lines of Harddrive can not be repaired. The most important thing to me right now is being able to access some of the files on there if it is not a total loss. I've back up about 2 months ago, so it wont be a total loss, but like I said, would prefer to salvage anything I can.
IMac (Intel) :: On Startup Apple Logo Briefly Turns Red With Dark Blue Background
Jun 23, 2014I purchased a new late 2013 27 inch iMac 3.4Ghz i5. The only thing I did after pulling it out of the box was restore Time Machine from my previous iMac. On startup the machine boots as expected, but gets interrupted by the screen turning a dark blue, and the apple logo turning bright red, for about a second or so, then boots as normal, and opens Mavericks. I've spoken to Applecare - they suggested I re-install Mavericks, which I did. The problem is still there. I've done a hardware diagnostics test - no problems. Though I wonder if it could be a faulty graphics card? As far as I'm aware there are no other issues with the iMac. The machine is under warranty but would love to solve this if possible.

My computer has the NVidia GeForce 9500 GT (256MB) graphics card. How does it compare to the 9400M that the base model iMac has? If it's better than my current graphics card, I'll probably go for the base model.
Otherwise, how does my graphics card compare to the ATI Radeon HD 4670 (256MB)?
Now to compare the processor. I have an AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core (2.20GHz) processor. How does it compare to the iMac's 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?
I have 3GB of RAM so logically the 4GB standard of the iMac is an upgrade.
I usually play some (3D) games like the Call of Duty series on my pc, do some (but not very heavy) Photoshop (CS4), watch and make (not professional of course) movies, listen to music, and surf the net, and do some work for school of course.
In a nutshell:

IMac :: Is It Possible To Have Too Many USB Devices On A Computer
Oct 1, 2009I know this may sound like a stupid question, but is it possible to have too many USB devices on a computer? I have a 1.83ghz mini and lately I've been having trouble with USB devices not plugged right into the computer itself. This includes a few hubs I've tried and the USB ports on my monitor. Some examples would be: 1. My apple aluminum keyboard, sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in when I start the computer or it won't work. 2. Just today, my iPhone wouldn't sync through a USB hub I've been using for quite some time but when I plugged it into my mac, it worked perfectly.
