Will it hinder the speeds of the computer or will i have any paticular issues when installing snow leopard because of having this graphics card..
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook is almost three years old and is getting very sluggish. I will be upgrading to a MacBook Pro next year but in the meantime, would a clean install improve the speed? I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive. I'm not necessarily looking at restoring from backup, as I think it would be nice starting out "new" and only copying over things I need need from my external. What do you think? What are the pros and cons of a clean install?

I checked system profiler but quite frankly wasn't sure of the designations.. does anyone have any experience with this camera, by the way? is USB 2.0 by definition "High Speed"?

My home network consists of three computers connected via a Linksys wired router. Is there any way to limit (or disable) the connection speed to a particular computer? I'd like to be able to selectively limit/disable the connection, without having to remove the ethernet connection on said computer. I can access the router status and enable/disable the connection for the entire network, but I can't seem to selectively limit/disable a particular connection.

I went to the Fsecure link and followed some of the steps on terminal. None of the file names came up so it seems like my computer is clean, but how can I be 100% sure? What's a good virus/malware/trojan scan I can run on my computer to be 100% sure?Â

I just bought a used MacBook Pro off somebody online to replace my 2005 pre-Intel Power Mac, which still runs great but I'm just tired of lugging it around. The MacBook Pro was erased but still contains some of the old owner's information (computer name, accounts, etc), and before moving files over I'd like to just wipe it clean and reinstall the OS. He did give me the gray discs, but they are for 10.6 (Snow Leopard) but the computer has been upgraded to 10.7 (Lion); I fear by rebooting I would downgrade to 10.6 since that's the disc I have. Reinstalling 10.7 after 10.6 is out because I don't have the login info used to buy 10.7. I've also considered just keeping 10.6 and just upgrading to 10.8 whenever it comes out (likely soon).

Is it normal for my fan to be at 2700 rpm when I boot my computer. Once I reach the desktop the fans slowly decrease to 1900-2000. Is this normal?

Just wanted to find out if any one will do a clean install of SL on their new imac? I hear there is a lot of bloatware ie Printer Drivers, Asian Language Fonts etc that take up a lot of unnecessary HD space.
I'm getting an i7 very soon waiting for possible iLife update, but will pull trigger what ever happens before July 7th for educational discount.
which is faster & more efficient? to download photo & or video content from a memory card directly to an external hard drive? or to the computers main drive & then move to the external hard drive?
I am after faster transfer/download speeds with less hang ups
I recently bought a used Imac 24" Alu and 30" Apple Cinema Display that were obviously never cleaned before and therefore there is sticky grunge/dirt on the aluminum on the Imac and even worse on the aluminum and plastic part of the 30" Display, as well as on the lcd itself.
What is the safest and most effective way of cleaning off this grungy dirt. I have read that people use IKlear for both the display lcd and the surrounding aluminum and plastic, but is this really sufficient?
I will need to insist on lifting off the sticky grunge like dirt on both machines.
I think I know what to do in terms of cleaning the lcd display on the 30" ACD.
But there is grungy dirt there too. A simple lint-free water-wet clothr will just move the dirt and grunge around, I think, not off. Perhaps IKlear will do it. Any firsthand recommendations?
I want to have nothing on my desktop except my HD image. Is there a way that I can organize downloads to go to a specific folder on my dock?

Anyway we have had the system now for over a year we all love it and have worked out the basics. My problem is that lately it has become very sluggish and jumps out of Safari a lot, Safari closes unexpectantly. It takes ages for even Word or anything to come up. What can I do to clean it up and make it run faster again. What do I go into.... I need the hows, wheres and whats?

I have bought a set of install disks for Mac Panther 10.3, however the computer will not read them. I hold "C" down as I turn the computer on but I get nothing except a flashing box with a question mark in it.
I have tried using the disks for my MacBook Pro but it tells me they are the wrong disks, however they at least load up to that point.
