i give lectures at a local university and wonder if you could suggest a few programs as a repository/organizer for a bunch of images (most will come off the web). I realize that Iphoto can do some of this, however, its tendency to group images by date is not terribly useful to me. What I'd prefer is something like Papers that would let me preview and tag the images.
I wish I could be more specific; however, my imagination is hampered by my lack of familiarity with what software is out there.
Also, if you have any suggestions for organizing materials for presentations--I give 8-10 different 1-hour presentations per week-

I recently purchased a macbook pro after using PC for many years. All my pictures are on the iphoto application.
What I've noticed is that if I go to the All Images folder in Finder, I can see that I have duplicate pictures and all have different sizes. What I want to know if I delete them, would I delete the ones that are in iphoto?
Is there a way or an app that can search for different images across various volumes? I need to locate 200 images for an InDesign file across 3 server volumes.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was transferring images from my Transend 32 GB memory card when halfway through something happened and only half the images copied properly. The other half are greyed out, I cannot view the thumbnail and when I try to do anything with it it says "one or more of the items in "IMG_9203.CR2" can't be changed because they are in use. The memory card is empty now and I can't figure out how to get back my images!

Is there anything there for word processing/publishing? If so, what is it called? If now, what would be recommended? I know that that will be a personal preference issue, but am interested in what others are using. I also bought an iMac but I also have a PC in my home office so I have no time crunch on getting it all figured out. My daughter on the other hand has college classes and her PC crapped out on her, so iMac is what she has.

I used a new USB flash drive this morning to transfer my pictures to. It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.

I just bought a new iMAC 24" and was about to buy Photoshop Elements 6 from Amazon. Then I read some disturbing reviews about this latest version not working very well, if at all on Macs. Some recommended going with Elements 4, but finding a new version of "4" is impossible.

Four years ago I bought the iMac I am using right now, I was a PC user (actually used Macs in the 90s) and I never knew if I was doing things properly. Since I am buying a new iMAc next week I need to know how to organize folders.
In my current iMac I have all my applications in the applications folder, I think that is ok. But for example, for my Photoshop and Flash projects I have made a folder in the Macintosh HD with my name and inside that folder I have many other folders. How should I organize my work? Should I put them in the documents folder or what?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?

I understand these machines burn images into screens sometimes, but they fade back to normal after a while. My issue is that its taking less and less time to burn images into my screen. It's so bad, I avoid using the left side of the screen because simply leaving anything there for a full minute burns the crap out of it. Oddly, this only effects the left third of the screen.
I remember taking it up to an apple store (not fun, considering none are near me. The address their tech support gave me actually went to a pawn shop.) but they simply told me to leave the itunes visualizer running every now and then.
Back then it was just mildly irritating. Now I cant do anything with that side of the screen! Would replacing the LCD resolve this issue?

I've noticed that finder, automatically saves unnecessary spam images and mixes them in with my important images, is there someway of either adding a spam label, to them, so they end up in another folder, or completely stopping the saving process entirely?

I was using adobe final cut and I exported an flv movie and it put every single frame from the movie all on my desktop. Now the minute it loads it jams finder and I get a beachball that will never end.
I need Ti delete all these images but can get to that point before it freezes. I'm totally stuck, any ideas?? I have a proposal to finish tonight and I'm losing my mind.
screen goes bananas colors flash, weird lines appear, entire screen looks like some high-tech explosion.it is possible to make out some distorted images, but basically it is unreadable. Is my Mac dead or is there an easy fix?

Soon as I plugged the usb cable to an iPhone a message of "needs more power" appears for about 3 seconds.
After turning on the iPhone, none of my applications recognize the iPhone.
Normally when I plug my camera to the usb cable and turn it on Kodak Easyshare launches and I am able to transfer the images.
