I have an external drive that will need to be connected at different times to both my Mac (Leopard) and my Windows XP & Vista machines. I had it formatted for Mac OS (Journaled) but it wasn't readable in XP or Windows. So what is the best format so that all can read/write to it normally? NTFS? It needs to be able to handle larger files (4GB and bigger).

My Macbook Air reads the files OK. Both run 10.9.4. Is there a way to check that Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.06 is actually installed?

When I scan a document I have problems locating the file on the computer. Once I located the file I attempted to save in pages 09 but it didn't work. And I can't seem to even copy a scanned document to paste into pages. As an example I would like to scan all of my loose recipes and assemble in pages. But can't figure out how to do this.

I have several mac pro's, 17 inch, late 2011, both have hdd installed in optical bay, one is running Mavericks another - ML 10.8.5Â
I wanted to swap those hdd's between 2 mac's. When I put a hard drive formatted in Mavericks into Mountain Lion it does not read the disk, says: the disk is not readable...
it's recognized by the system, it's inside Disk Utility... but you cannot mount it, until re-formatted. Although it's recognized fine if you connect it via USB, full access, no issues...
The problem is only when you connecting the disk via Optical Bay SATA adapter (the adapter is absolutely OK as it can see other drives formatted in Lion's, also I have several of them, all of the show the same results)Â
I had to re-format one disk in ML disk utility to resolve the issue, now it can be writable on Lion via optical bay adapter. But I have another disk of Mavericks which I can't reformat... to many valuable information on itÂ
the question: how can I make a disk formatted in Mavericks readable in Lion w/o reformatting (using optical bay adapter)?

What I did was I inserted the OSX disc, rebooted and waited for the mac osx setup to start from the disc. After selecting english as my main language I launced disk utility from the task bar.I choose to "'Erase" The entire drive which took a few seconds and I ended up with a supposedly blank 160GB drive called "Untitled" My question is was this done correctly? I reinstalled OSX on this "Untitled" drive and after a reboot the introduction movie started rolling.

Is there some way of replacing/updating the save to pdf function or Preview without a total OS update?

I am making the transition back to Mac pretty good except for a couple of programs that worked pretty good. Basically I have my DVD's stored in .MKV files for my Popcorn hour streamer. On my windows pc I use a DVD ripping program to save just the main movie in .ISO format. Then I would use another app that would save the .ISO as a .MKV. I'm having trouble finding a program that does what MakeMKV does. It basically puts a movie in a .MKV container without any compression plus chapters.
It takes basically 5 minutes for this program to do it. I have converted 160 of my DVD's this way so far and love it. I don't care to compress any of my movies since HD's are so cheap these days. This is the program I'm referring to. [URL]. From the start with ripping a movie and ending up with an .MKV the process is about 30 min with this program. Is they're a program that does what makemkv does? Am I better off trying to run Windows in virtualization with these apps?
