OS X Mavericks :: Print Scan In Preferences Freezes - HP Photosmart 7520
Jun 30, 2014
Since I upgraded to Maverick the Scan Print in System Preferences freezes when I try to open it. I repaced my old Canon printer, because there was not a driver update available for it. My new printer is a HP Photosmart 7520. I downloaded the newest driver and software for it , but when I try to open HP Utilities it also freezes.
how to print multiple return address labels on my new Mac. My computer is state of the art....and I am not....but very willing to learn.... I just bought Office Depots 2/3 in x 1 3/4 in return address labels that has room for 60 labels per sheet and is the same size as the Avery 8195 and 5195. or 3M 3200-Q and 3100-P..

I have 13" MacBookPro running 10.6.1 with 4 G Ram. My HP Photosmart C4500 All-In-One will print but will not scan. I have unplugged the USB cable and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. I have tried to scan from both the unit itself and the scan software on my laptop. I get messages like "an unknown error occurred, or "can't find scanner". When you look in the 4500s window it appears to be scanning but nothing happens. Any ideas? It seems to have stumped HP help so far!
I can't scan to my computer with my HP Photosmart Plus B2010a, I get a "Failed to open a session on the device" message everytime. I'm using the most current driver for OS X Lion 10.7 off the HP website.

When I right click mouse and select “change desktop background”, System preferences opens with “Desktop and Screen Saver” window, desktop selected. The right side of the window shows “Loading Images” and hangs up. I cannot exit “system preferences” unless I force quit “system preferences”.
I have a mac os x 10.7.4 connected to a photosmart c309a. I use the mac drivers to scan document. Everything is updated and working fine. However, I would like to scan a document, copy it to word, and edit. How can I do this?
I just bought an HP Photosmart 4700 series. For a while it was printing fine, then after shutting down the computer, it suddenly stopped printing from anything Office X software.
It responds on the print command, and then sends out a blank sheet of paper.
That said, it prints everything else - gmail or web pages -- just fine.
My Mac OS is version 10.6.3. My guess is I need to update Office to be compatible with the latest Mac OS. Of course that doesn't explain why it was working before.
I'd rather hear from someone more knowledgeable than I am.
So I got this printer with the buy a mac deal, the only thing is I can't seem the find the model when I try to set up the printer.
There's no Photosmart C4280 under the list of printer models on the list. Can anyone help? Whenever I try to print something offline it'll just keep taking in loads of computer paper but nothing comes out.
When it does print it prints werid stuff like "dup 33 /R put dup 34 /a put dup 35/l put etc etc readonly def /fonttype 42 def /fontmatrix matrix def."
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I have a Canon MX350 wifi printer that my MacAir recognizes but not my iMac. Both are on OS X 10.7.4 snow leopard. It's a pain to get anything printed right now - I have to grab everything through the MacAir since I can't print or scan directly from the iMac.What do I do?
I've got a dual-ethernet Airport Extreme base station. I've connected my AIO HP c309a to it by every possible means; ethernet, wireless and USB.
No matter what I do, I can NOT scan from my computer or to my computer, wirelessly.
I used to get an error to the effect of, "failed to create a session" when trying to scan. Now, I'm unable to locate the scanner in Preview at all!
It prints just fine. I've installed the latest Snow Leopard printer drivers, and they're working fine and are the correct drivers. Airport Extreme's firmware is up to date.
I have a Macbook Pro, ipad 2 and apple tv as well as a Canon MP640 all connected through airport xtreme. All was working fine until I upgraded from Snow Leopard to OS X Lion. Now I can't print or scan to my Mac, either from the MacBook or from the printer/scanner.

I'm having an issue with the printer and scanner preferences after an upgrade from SL to lion. It keeps quitting, after several attempts I could reset the printing preferences as described in the apple support doc here [URL] but no luck it still quits. I also reset the pram and smc.

I had a new hard drive installed on my iMac with OSX 10.9.4. It then would not print to either the HP psc 2510xi Photosmart (USB cable) or the networked HP Officejet 7000, both of which had worked with 10.9.2. I downloaded new drivers from HP and Apple: HP Printer Drivers v.2.26.1 for OSX. When I try to Add a printer I get the message: Can't install software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server. HP support labeled my Photosmart obsolete and sold me an Officejet Pro 8100. Same problem even though it came with a CD with printer drivers. Same messages.
after updating to Maverick osx 10.9.3 my hp photosmart scanner is not recognized with IMAC image capture. I have done all software upgrades and deleted the printer and reinstalled the printer which is on my wireless network.
I have an iMac desktop with a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. The operating system is Mac OS X, 10.9.4. Using my current software, I am unable to satisfactorily scan a document (in this case, a small community street map showing streets and lots with house numbers and owner's last names) and then be able to edit the scanned map to update it with new owner's names. I am told that a PDF scanner app may allow to me to scan and edit a document.
I have a early '09 28" imac with 10.9.5 and a Dell MFP c1765nf hooked into mac when I bought printer about a year ago got good Cust Service from Dell when I received printer . I've had more than several closed head injuries and failed to write them down . Now my bride wants me to get it working or get rid of it.
Where does the HP Scan software stores the scanned images? I know there's an option to save the images to desktop after scan, but before I save it to desktop where does it store the files? It needs to be somewhere because I see the image in the app.
I keep getting this message when attempting ton restore my Samsung SSD on my 2012 MBP. I've got a .dmg image its all my data on it and I'm just trying to get it from my external hardrive to my internal 3rd party SSD.

After clicking System Preference how do I get SCAN option to appear so documents can be scanned? Currently only the Print option is visible and having no problems with printing. Printer is a HP Laser Jet 300.
I have updated my system to OS X Maverick and have lost the ability to "print preview" my files before saving. I frequently save files as jpeg files, as well as pdf. I have found that many of our flyers print better when saved as a jpeg but since the print preview option has been eliminated, I cannot save anything as a jpeg.

I just got a MacBook last week, and am running 10.9.3. Twice so far, I've been using the computer and the UI ceases to respond: no response to keypresses, no response to the trackpad. The only way out seems to be a hard reset of the computer. This is a brand-spanking new Mac, although I have installed QuickSilver and Firefox. Have there been any issues with freezing on 10.9?
My iMac has recently begun freezing momentarily. First it will freeze for a few seconds (while still allowing the mouse to move). It will resume, and then a minute or so later it will freeze again for a slightly longer duration. During this time, I can move the mouse, click on things, but nothing responds. Music and videos pause and then resume, websites stop loading, not able to type, etc. In fact, it just happened while typing that last sentence.

Instantly says not responding the second I try to run it. I deleted the install file and tried to re-download, but I get the same problem. This is the error it was giving me in console when I would try to run it and it would stop responding.
