View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Blackbook with Snow Leopard installed. I tried to install Bootcamp but it said that I had to do an erase + reinstall first. I booted my mac up from the OS X disc, got past the language menu, then got a pop up stating "MAC OS X Cannot Be Installed." I can't click on Disk Utility or anything else on the menu bar. How else can I erase my HD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot understand why I am unable to reinstall my Mac OS X installation disk 1 after performing a 7 pass erase. I kept the installation disk in the computer because iMac would not allow me to eject it. Plus I needed the installation disk in my computer to perform the erase in Disk Utility. did I erase the entire installation disk?

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I took my MacBook to the apple store for an erase and reinstall due to about 20gb of space was missing on my HD. My latest backup was done the day before I went back to Apple to reinstall Lion. After I restored my data from the backup, the address book app and the app store app are both missing. My address book data is on iCloud so I'm not that concerned about the data but I would like to get the app back on my MacBook.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy MB Air is not booting (I get the ever gray Apple logo screen with the spinning wheel, and nothing happens) Following instructions I found online, I tried the disk utility repair disk and permissions and, apparently, there's nothing wrong. Still, the system won't boot!
I'm now trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, but the system requires about 0.5 GB of additional free disk space to install!
Is there anyway I can access the OS terminal screen (command line interface), so I may delete a few files, creating additional disk space?

I recently did a complete erase of my hard drive and re-installed Mavericks. I chose to start clean rather than use any Time Machine back-ups. I used the same external hard drive for my new Time Machine back-ups. Now I cannot open any back-ups/items prior to the re-install via Time Machine. They are listed along the right hand sidebar in Time Machine (star wars view) but will not open when clicked on.
Some files I can access if I go to the actual backup folder - ex a Pages doc BUT ff I try to open the iPhoto library from the back-up folders stored on the external drive, I get the following error message -
I cannot open the iPhoto "package" to access individual photos from these back-ups.
So - how can I get Time Machine to allow access to the pre-install back-ups??

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of selling my iMac G5 (I'm getting a new iMac). I've got all my personal data backed up onto an external hard drive. The question I have is regarding my G5 - what's the best way of deleting all my personal data on it? Should I reinstall Tiger using the CD that came with the system and do a complete "Erase and Install", or is there a simpler way?

I have an imac G4 20" (Bowl) the DVD are not recognized anymore, nothing happens and they are ejected...But the CD works fine which suggest a soft problem more than a hard one (in a hard...the CD do not work)
I tried to reset DRAM and PMU....with no effect...
Does any one know a solution as Apple Support does not give any hint....except it is probably a soft problem....unfortunately I do not have anymore disk of my 10.3.9 version of OSX
I have used my gps on my g4 tower. I had to first get it recognized on a pc but then it worked on the g4. Now I have an imac 27 inch i7 and the garmin nuvi 850 is not recognized though it shows it is connected on the garmin screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a 128 gb usb 3.0 stick from "platinet". I could normally use it for some time but didn't need it during the last months. It was carefully transported now and then but mostly packed away, so it's possible but unlikely that it's damaged.
Yesterday I wanted to use it again and it got recognized on my iMac (OS X, 10.9.4, iMac mid 2007) for only some seconds, then the message appeared that it was not removed correctly. After that, the usb stick wasn't detected anymore on neither my iMac nor two MacBook Airs (also 10.9.4) that we've tried. I haven't tested it on a Windows computer yet.
Disk utility doesn't detect the device either but it can be found with "about my Mac" --> "system report" --> "USB"
I do not care so much about the data stored on it but I would like to get it to work again and not to throw it away.... Is there anything I can do?
I bought highly recommended specifically made for Apple computers BR burner. iMac does not recognize it.

after updating to Maverick osx 10.9.3 my hp photosmart scanner is not recognized with IMAC image capture. I have done all software upgrades and deleted the printer and reinstalled the printer which is on my wireless network.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSuddenly, my HP Photosmart 7525 isn't recognized by my (wife's) iMac. Ny iMac prints to it wirelessly just fine. I downloaded the printer driver (several time), loaded it and the iMac reverted to the HP Utility to finalized the process. The utility couldn't recognized the "device" to finish off the driver. Same thing when I loaded the Photosmart 6525 (my printer). The iMac apparently isn't loading the drivers. It worked fine a day or two ago, now, nada. WiFi works fine thru the AirPort/TimeCapsule module/router. The printer wifi works with other computers.

I think it started from when i updated from 10.5.8 to 10.9. I had been having trouble reading any disks at all and sat down to try and fix it, when I looked more into it i noticed a few errors that kept popping up. When I insert any disk it reads for a bit and then just ejects. When i try and look for the disk utility there is no optical drive there.
When i open CDs and DVDs "You can’t open the “CDs & DVDs” preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time. To see this preferences pane, you may need to connect a device to your computer." In system information - disk burning it says "No disc burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it’s connected and turned on." When inserting a movie DVD and opening DVD player "A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]

The old one crapped out on me, so I installed one from OWC on a iMac6,1, I have taken it apart many times to disconnect it and reconnect it. Could the ribbon be bad? If so, where can I get a part number? Or is it a generic ribbon for superdrives?
