If mac is left running overnight sometimes on trying to awaken it, The Password entry screen does not allow me to key in anything...Â
USERNAME is onscreen, cursor/I-beam is blinking in Password Box, my mouse can move the cursor arrow around the screen,. I can position this in the Password Box but no action when I click..Forced to switch off at the box...Â
This has not always been the case. Mac is infrequently left on overnight, so I cannot attribute any software update or installation as the trigger for this behaviour.MacPro on OS 10.6

Upgraded to SL, clean install, MBA REVA. When waking from sleep, i noticed the machine asks me for the WEP password every single time despite checking the "remember password" box. I noticed the "add to keychain" box doesn't show up anymore... am i missing something?

The new version won't remove auto-fill user id and password for any entry. And it's caused problems logging into some Websites by entering a bogus one the Website can't recognize. It's a, "Huh?" for this update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedActually don't want to fuel any ongoing debate but to call attention on that both machines offer some points more or less about the same raw processor perfmormance on its 'stock' offering by apple (this means, in practice, the i7 comes with 1 GB more RAM):
MacPro Base Early 2009 (Xeon 2.66 4 cores, $2499):

That said there a of course real life diffrences and diffrent targets, expandability replacements being the pro's main advantage, a bigger HD, more RAM, 27" monitor going for the iMac... all said I think the new iMac has given the permormance everyone expects from a current generation desktop computer, I'm waiting for the quads to be ready available here in Mexico to make the move , congrats to the new owners!
After enter my password hit return the computer cycles back to login window

Is the password for the computer itself (the one required when you want to, for example, install software updates) different from your Apple I.D. password? What happens if you've forgotten the computer-specific password - can it be re-set?

I bought an imac 2 years ago, and updated it to leopard when that was released.
I no longer have the discs i used for Leopard, only the original mac os x 10.4 discs.I am very soon going to be selling this machine and need to wipe everything so that all is left if the operating system in the form you would expect as if you had just bought a new mac.How can this be achieved, i tried disck utility> erase, but only erase free space was 'highlighted'.
Unable to complete OS X 10.4 reinstall, second DVD not recognized.

The question I have is regarding my G5 - what's the best way of deleting all my personal data on it? Should I reinstall Tiger using the CD that came with the system and do a complete "Erase and Install", or is there a simpler way?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got this Mac pro with osx. It's a old business computer, so I don't have the login password for the user or administrator. I had this installation CD, and it worked fine when I tried holding "c" down while restarting the computer. But I couldn't fix the problem at the moment so I turned it of again. Now it won't start up as usual with the "Choose language menu" so I can't get access to the computer. I really don't know why it does it, and I'm so lost right now. How do I get access to the computer now, and reset the computer and password?
