I have a imac I bought mid 07, and I got bootcamp to install windows. So my windows os crashes, I go to re-install the windows and it deletes my mac osx. So I try to reboot the computer with the original max osx install discs that came with the computer, as I reboot I see the install cd icon and click it, and it starts loading the cd. And Keeps Loading, doesnt do much else.

My question: if I insert the CD and reinstall Snow Leopard will I be doing any harm to the computer? This seems to be a cheaper option than re-purchasing apps that no longer work. Any advice will be gratefully received.

I'm kinda new to apple, and love it. I recently started playing UT2004, and to get something, I need the insert key. I searched all over google, and found some stuff, that won't work in the game itself. So does anyone know how to replace/or a key combo to do the 'insert-key' in games.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert a disk. When I put it in, it usually just nicely goes in. Now, there seems to be something blocking it as I push it in. There isn't anything in there that I know of. I've tried ejecting and even tried looking under disk utilities.

It won't show up until the second time i put it in -- it will flash up on the desktop briefly, but it looks like it's hanging up when it's searching for track names. I haven't rebooted in a while -- maybe that's it?

I was updating the permissions on my osx drive and finder froze so I relaunched it and finder would no longer work, I got several messages about obscure things not being installed properly like "bluetoothkeyboard". I then restarted my iMac and ended up stuck at the loading screen. I've tried everything iveseen on the forum like fsck and using the install cd but nothing seems to be working

I am Having some issues with Safari (I am using 4.0.5), if I open up a website the screen stays white like it normally does for a sec to load a web page but the loading icon keeps spinning and spinning and spinning....... until I click the "X" stop icon and reload the web page. As soon as I click the reload icon the webpage loads up instantly, it is getting really annoying and would be great if anyone has a fix. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen frequently and then be fine for a few web pages and then start up again.

Before it used to load pretty fast but yesterday I noticed it began to load slowly after a blackout. its taking about 30 seconds or more to boot up after a shut down and when I first turn it on, I hear a chyme and after the chyme. I am at a white screen for quite a while before I see the apple symbol. Is this normal??

I've opened it up to check the PRAM batt and also checked if there are any shorts on the logic board. All looked ok to me. The HDD is working fine and I supposed the power supply unit is fine too.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a mac mini intel and I was in the middle of working with my blogs, then there was an annoying spinning wheel of death, so normally, I would hold the power button for few button to restart and I did. then when the desktop was loading, everything was back to the "new" desktop with alot of stuffs missing, so I restarted it again using the apple menu, then the startup screen took so long and out of nowhere, it shutted down by itself. I tried to power it on again and again, unplugged the cords, still didn't work.

I have a library of high end clip art and photography from Liquid Library 2003/2004. I've never had any problems using them with my system yet yesterday my iMac spit all of them without loading them. I even cleaned them and tried again. They still would not load. There is nothing on the CDs that should conflict, they are just jpegs, illustrations and photos created for using with high end graphics. Is there a reason this happened suddenly?

The screen/crt of the imac that I have been using since about '98 went black - this actually happened a couple times previously but I was able to get back in (no idea - one of those things where out of frustration you just start pushing everything at once and it suddenly pops back on). I have tried everything - the internal battery, that little button on the motherboard (not sure if that is what it is called) that resets everything, the connection of the main power button on the front, etc. I am fairly sure it is stuck in sleep-mode or something (no beeps, hard drive doesn't make the usual booting-up sounds but you can tell that it is receiving power) but after months of wasted effort I finally gave up. I bought another slot-loading G3 and would like to swap hard-drives between the two - I have taken my old G3 completely apart so many times that I am totally comfortable with that aspect but have hesitated because if I somehow blow this one I will be left with nothing.

The machine chimes and begins to start, and then clicks off again before anything can show on the screen. It won't start in Target Disk mode, and zapping the PRAM (starting with alt/apple/P/R, right?) has no effect. Does this sound like a dead PRAM battery, a dead 'Power/Analog' board, or a dead hard drive? Can anyone give me an idea of how much it would cost to fix, and recommend good, reliable, cheap UK repairers It's not worth much, but I have a friend who'd love it if it can be restored to life, and I'd like to get some of the files off it if it's not the drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, my iMac intel took a fall. It fell on it's side and has no visible damage, in fact it didn't even turn off or stop working till I rebooted a few hours later. Now when I try to start up the desktop loads as normal but the taskbar never loads, nothing responds to the mouse, and eventually the icons disappear, the screen goes blue and it all starts over again, cycling till I shut it off.
I attempted to boot into safe mode, but after the usual long disk check I got a rebooting blue screen, similar to the nn-safe mode boot up but without icons. I've booted from the startup disk with no issues and run verify and repair on the disk. It said there were no problems. How I can get to the bottom of what might be going on?
Just purchased a new Mac Mini and while trying to set it up I inserted a couple of discs and they do not seem to be "loading" I also noticed that the IDVD icon seems to be missing from my dock. How do I recover that and how do I download programs (or is the term upload?)
