OS X V10.7 Lion :: Erase And Reinstall By The Apple Store?
Apr 16, 2012
Today I took my MacBook to the apple store for an erase and reinstall due to about 20gb of space was missing on my HD. My latest backup was done the day before I went back to Apple to reinstall Lion. After I restored my data from the backup, the address book app and the app store app are both missing. My address book data is on iCloud so I'm not that concerned about the data but I would like to get the app back on my MacBook.Â
I have this iMac, and now I mostly use my macbook pro. So what I want to do to this one is delete everything (of course I will back up what I need) and then reinstall Lion, so first it can be faster. And second imac run bootcamp on it so I can play some PC Games.
My MB Air is not booting (I get the ever gray Apple logo screen with the spinning wheel, and nothing happens) Following instructions I found online, I tried the disk utility repair disk and permissions and, apparently, there's nothing wrong. Still, the system won't boot!Â
I'm now trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, but the system requires about 0.5 GB of additional free disk space to install!Â
Is there anyway I can access the OS terminal screen (command line interface), so I may delete a few files, creating additional disk space?Â

I have purchased and downloaded iMovie from the Mac App store. However now I'm getting an error everytime it launches: Â The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; re-install.Â
I'm happy to reinstall iMovie- but I got it from the app store. When I visit the iMovie page on the app store, it says "installed" and gives me NO options to re-install. Seems pretty short-sighted on Apple's part.
I have a 2007 Blackbook with Snow Leopard installed. I tried to install Bootcamp but it said that I had to do an erase + reinstall first. I booted my mac up from the OS X disc, got past the language menu, then got a pop up stating "MAC OS X Cannot Be Installed." I can't click on Disk Utility or anything else on the menu bar. How else can I erase my HD?
When I switched to ICloud I thought my Apple ID and password would work for Apple store. It turns out they have a different Apple ID at the Apple store with a diferent password that I do not remember. HOw can I make the ICloud Apple ID and password work for all other platforms?

I cannot understand why I am unable to reinstall my Mac OS X installation disk 1 after performing a 7 pass erase. I kept the installation disk in the computer because iMac would not allow me to eject it. Plus I needed the installation disk in my computer to perform the erase in Disk Utility. did I erase the entire installation disk?
Completed a clean install of Lion on 2009 IMac, which initially reacted poorly to an upgrade (my first attempt to move to Lion). How do I reinstall iPhoto, Garageband, Aperture, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Logic Express? These were all preinstalled with original purchase. How would I find the serial numbers that will inevitably be asked for? The App store wants to charge for these items, and other non-Apple software I've purchased for the App store won't download again.

i know that diskutil has alot of commands and im not sure how to use them, i would specifically want to know how to use eraseDisk properly. Or is there any other way to clean install tiger without using darwin? I know eraseDisk gives me a format to use but i never get it right for some reason. diskutil eraseDisk "Journaled HFS+" MacintoshHD bootable /dev/disk0 -- this works i got it right now but it gives me this error: could not unmount disk for zeroing
I recently did a complete erase of my hard drive and re-installed Mavericks. I chose to start clean rather than use any Time Machine back-ups. I used the same external hard drive for my new Time Machine back-ups. Now I cannot open any back-ups/items prior to the re-install via Time Machine. They are listed along the right hand sidebar in Time Machine (star wars view) but will not open when clicked on.Â
Some files I can access if I go to the actual backup folder - ex a Pages doc BUT ff I try to open the iPhoto library from the back-up folders stored on the external drive, I get the following error message -
I cannot open the iPhoto "package" to access individual photos from these back-ups.Â
So - how can I get Time Machine to allow access to the pre-install back-ups??Â
I have two computers that I wish to purchase Lion for. Can this be done under a single AppleID?This is in a corporate environment? I need to upgrade two computers from Snow Leopard to Lion.
A friend gave me a Gift Card so I could purchase OS X Lion. But apparently he gave me an Apple Gift Card and the App Store requires an iTunes gift card. How can I purchase OS X Lion with a Apple Gift Card?
I bought my macbook air with lion os, I have formated my HD , and I want to install the lion os, but when I give my apple ID, the message says that the lion is not identified with this ID, I'm wondering if I shall buy the lion os, although I bought my macbook air with lion os, new from apple shop!!
How do I download Lion OS purchased in 2011. I need to make a new bootable hard drive?? I purchased a OWC SSD 480GB 3G for my early 2008 Mac Pro.They tell me I must download my original CD and then update to Lion?

My friend has a MacPro with 10.7 on it. He upgraded his OS by buying it on the App store. Now he has a weird screen at start up We would like to run Apple Hardware Test on the install DVD but as mentioned he bought it from the App store. The only file we get is an installer (4.2 GB) but it is not a start up disk.
I need to restore the original software on an imac and macbook but it wont let me do this without entering my apple id (app store log in) anyway around this? as I want the macs to appear new to the next user and without any of my info left on them .
I installed the app Ticket to Ride on my iMac. I bought extra maps for that game; an in app purchase. Now i installed Ticket to Ride also on my MacBook. That was easy and free! Now I also want the in app purchases free on my MacBook. Is that possible or do I have to buy them a second time?Â

I reside in Spain and I've recently opened a joint account with a US resident here in Los Angeles at Charles Schwab bank. The financial consultant told us it's possible to deposit checks into schwab account through an app for iphone [URL]I've tried to download but it appears the following window: "your application has not been able to complete" and "The article you requested is not available at this time in Spanish Store, but is available in the U.S. Store. Click Change Store to view this article". If I click to change the Store from the Spanish to the American store, I have to fill the data but my ID apple is not working on the "foreign" store. What can I do? Is there a way to buy / download items from a different Itunes stores?Â
All of a sudden a notification badge has appeared on the Apple Store icon on my MacBook Pro dock. While it seems there is an update for an app that I once downloaded, there is no indication as to how I can download the update.
I am using OSX 10.6.8 in a MAC Pro desktop. I want to use the Cloud to sync my desktop calendar with my iPhone 5 calendar. When opening up preferences, iCloud is not among the "Internet & Wireless" options. I went into my Applications folder, looking for the App Store application, thinking I could get the application and reinstall the Cloud option. It was there, but a window came up saying: "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete."  So, what would I need to do? I don't have the actual disk for this version to reinstall. If I upgrade to OSX Yosemite, I'm afraid I'll have to upgrade all my main applications to be compatible.
