IMac :: ATI 4850 Windows Drivers - Finding Current Status?
Jun 20, 2010I gather there've been more than a few headaches getting working video drivers for the ATI 4850 in the iMac (windows side). A few posts have said that version 8.661 of the AMD driver (Catalyst 9.10) works, but other versions including newer ones, don't.

1] Set brightness level to the lowest or most comfortable
2] Turn off Bluetooth/Airport when not in use
3] Try not to use the iSight camera too much
4] Try to do activities that will decrease your battery life only when it's plugged in
5] Put it to sleep instead of shutdown.
6] Keep it plugged in as much as possible, it's okay to use 20-30% of the battery when you're in the bus or in places that has no power adapters. In fact, it makes the MBP healthier.

May 31, 2012With the impending demise of Mobile Me, I'll be making some changes. In order to utilize the full capabiliteis of new Mobile Me I'd need to upgrade to OS X.I have not yet done so because I have and use FCS 3 and Logic 9, both of which have been reported as having compatibility problems with Lion. I write to ask the status especially of compatibility between Lion and Logic 9. With sadness I understand that FCS 3 will never work with Lion, so I'll also ask of any FCS 3 users who have upgraded: what have you done to be able to work with your video created in FCS 3?

Nov 30, 2014I shut my mac down 1 week ago. Apparently, it chose to restart. I am looking at an incomplete green status bar. I turned the computer off and back on. The status bar is stuck at 1/3. What can I do? I have no time machine backups.Â

Aug 30, 2014Some time ago I had a problem with my iMac. Turned out my internal HD was broken so I got a new one.
The problem is that after I got my iMac with the new INTERNAL HD back, I was unable to write data on my EXTERNAL (Toshiba) HD, which until then I had no problems with. When I checked the format of it, it now says NTFS.Â
As I have more than 1 TB of data on it which would take forever to back up, is there another way to change it's status and write on it again? I was once able to do it, so I don't know where the problem is.....Â

IMac :: Possible To Add SSD While Retaining Current HD?
Nov 26, 2010I have a late 2009 i7 and would like to add a 2.5 SSD and retain the current 1TB HD. Is this possible? I don't want to replace the DVD. I have read I would need to short the temperature sensor. Could someone tell me what cable is required? Also do I need a special mount for the OEM HD(3.5?) + SSD? Also another option, have SSD 2.5 and regular HD 2.5 to replace the standard 3.5" OEM HD. I read the logic board only have one SATA port but would like to know if it is possible to use a cable that fits both? Would this affect performance?

It seems like a GPU update is the most sought after feature in the pending refresh. I would really like to get an iMac now (would be my first Mac obviously) and for me the decision to buy now would be a lot easier if there was chance of swapping out the GPU's down the road. Aug 23, 2014I have a late iMac 2013 and have had problems since day one and always just assumed it was bad RAM as i upgraded to 16GB, from 8. I finally took the RAM i purchased out and have left the original RAM in and still continually get the below error after restart.Â
I have removed Kasperky via the Kaspersky removal tool but i notice it still references it below? Unusually it seems to be ridiculously unstable when i am downloading any Movies i have purchased from iTunes (the current movie has crashed 4 or 5 times today) or if i am ripping a DVD i have purchased using iSkysoft. I have started in safe mode but that made no difference, i actually think it has gotten worse since i removed the extra RAM.Â

We both use calendars quite a bit... My iPhone is setup with my MBP, and since i travel quite a bit i need to keep it that way.

Oct 25, 2009This has happened about three or four times now in which I'll wake my MacBook (unibody) from sleep (ie. open it up), and it'll have a frozen clock at some random time, renders spotlight unable to function, freezes battery status (even says it's plugged in at 100% even though it's sitting in my lap unplugged (has been unplugged since las night).
Even a weird wifi indicator next to the CPU menu Meters. I dunno what's going on. Has happened randomly when I leave it off over night. Just a minor inconvenience since it requires a restart. Just wondering if you guys know what's going on and/or how to fix it.
Mac Pro :: Status Light Is Always On
Sep 11, 2014I have a Mac Pro 3.1..Sometimes (most of the times, actually) the Mac Pro doesn't boot and just stops after the chime (just as it was powered off). But what I found strange is that the white status light is always on (not blinking, always on) from the moment I connect the power strip.Â
I've run multiple times the Apple Service Diagnostic tests (running then again at this moment) and there´s absolutely no error reported. I've changed memory, video card slot position, everything I could think off, but still haven't found a solution. Â

OS X :: Difference In Status Of Available Space
Feb 3, 2009When I connect my MacBook to my iMac to transfer files over (using target disk mode), a sparsebundle of my macbook files shows up as a mounted disk image, along with the yellow external hard drive icon on my desktop. The yellow icon says I have about 80GB total, but the mounted disk image (white) says I have 120GB total on it. Does that mean I have more space than I originally thought? (I thought it had 80GB on it)

Apr 28, 2009I just bought an iMac 24" base model and love it. I'm quickly learning the OS, but there is still a lot that is foreign to me.
Wireless was easy to setup, however I can't find any type of connection status (as in signal strength). Am I just missing it, or do I need a 3rd party program?

May 17, 2009after updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
