After many years of using Mail, my outgoing mail server is suddenly offline. My wife's mail, with identical settings is not offline. We do not use iCloud for our mail. I have several mail accounts and they all show outgoing (Offline). The outgoing mail server is SMTP.WEST.COX.NET. For me, of course you can add (Offline).

If I use the iCloud suggested settings as per: ENTERING iCLOUD MAIL SERVER SETTINGS IN SNOW LEOPARD
as per Roger Wilmut's suggestions -[URL]...will all my other incoming and outgoing mail accounts still work as usual?

If the mail application is close, iCloud mail goes offline, although my other email accounts in the mail app do NOT go offline. When I open the mail app, there is a symbol next to the iCloud account (but not next to the others) that looks like a circle with a horizontal zig-zag. When I click on that symbol I get the following message: "This account (iCloud) appears to be offline due to a network problem." If I click the button in the dialogue box that says, "Take all accounts online,", then my iCloud mail comes in right away. However, all my other mail accounts already are delivered. It is not a network or connection problem.

I need to send a mass email to all of my iCloud contacts.I select the "+" sign to add email addresses to an outgoing email. Do I really have to check the "to" box on all 700+ email addresses? Or is there a way to "select all"?

I had a Mobileme account and have changed over to iCloud. In the last three days when receiving mail my accounts have gone offline on two different computers. I can still access them by signing into iCloud, but not from the mail application. I went to accounts and the "incoming mail server" is blank. I have tried creating a new account with "imap.mail.me.com" , but it still did not connect. Has something changed at iCloud?

Suddenly Mail has stopped sending emails. Connection Doctor says server is 'offline' and I should ensure passwords and settings are correct. But I changed NOTHING - it just suddenly stopped sending and receiving!
I'm using a late 2012 iMac and a Retina MacBook Pro, both with very latest OS - same problem on both. I've restarted my TimeCapsule and BT HomeHub

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
I have recently migrated to a macbook pro and have had no issues with mail for two weeks, until today. I have a new problem today with mail outgoing servers being "offline" without a way to turn them online. I did a software update yesterday and I may have gotten an OSX upgrade but did not notice. Does anyone know if there is an issue with 10.6.8?

This has happened before. All is well, then one day iCloud Mail decides it won't work and the "exclaimation point" error appears next to that account in mail.
Trying to re-enter the account information is futile as the incoming mail server is grayed out, only displaying "mail.example.com" which the user cannot change.
Tried deleting the account and re-adding, but it just adds a new, blank account which cannot be modified. At that point, my iCloud mail account is entirely gone from the computer and apparently can not be recovered.

How do I rename my Incoming Mail server (Mail version 4.5, Snow Leopard) so that it points to iCloud. It is grayed out and when I click on 'edit email aliases' in the mail preference account information, it sends me to Mobile Me login. Outgoing server lets me make the changes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning, I started Mail as I do everyday, but I could not assess my iCloud mail. I used Connection Doctor and the report that Mail was able to connect to the internet but under iCloud, the message was "Could not connect to this iCloud IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences." I checked the Account preferences and see the incoming Mail Server greyed out. It said p03-imap.mail.me.com I had been using Mail everyday and moved from Mobileme to iCloud once I upgraded to OSX Lion 10.7 several months back. I have upgraded the OS to 10.7.3.
I tried to assess mail in Safari and was successful. I checked the iCloud status and it was on. I did the following try to resolve the problem. I repaired permissions. I deleted the iCloud account from Mail. Then I unchecked the Mail & Notes checkbox in the iCloud pane in System Preferences. I restarted the computer and rechecked the Mail & Notes check box in the iCloud pane in System Preferences. Then opened Mail and opened it Preferences. Then I added one account. Filling the Name, email address and password in the form. When I pressed continue, I get the message, "The iCloud IMAP server 'p03-imap.mail.me.com' is not responding ..." At the moment I am using the browser to assess my mail. Is there some way to get back assess in Mail?

iCloud is now functioning on my MacBook (OS 10.7 Lion), iPhone, but not the iMac (OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard). I converted from MobileMe. Incoming mail functions with iCloud on the iMac, but I am not able to connect to Outgoing and therefore unable to send outgoing Mail from this computer. The Mail Connection Doctor in Mail Preferences indicates that I am connected to an outgoing SMTP account in Mail. I manually added smtp.iCloud.com.(name). but to no avail. So therefore two questions that may resolve this issue:
(1) what is the correct smtp address for iCloud?
(2) does the iCloud server support SSL? Please note that I have no idea of what SSL is, but the Mail Connection Doctor advised that I check this out.

Woke up this morning, flipped open my MBP, and I see an Error Message that says that the Certificate is Invalid for SMTP Mail server. I looked, but it says it doesn't expire until 2014. So why does this message happen and what does it mean? I quit Mail, and then Restarted anyways to see what happens and all seems to be OK. But what does it mean and where does this message generate itself?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mac mail continues to regect my correct password. I've done a new password and have checked all mail settings in mail preferences. Nothing seems to work. Iphone and icloud work fine... it's just my mac mail that doesn't sync with my computer itself. Soooo frustrating!!!

Everytime I open mail (v.5.2) on my Mac (OSX 10.7.3) I am prompted that the "iCloud has rejected the password for p01-imap.mail.me.com." The incoming mail server is set at p01-imap.mail.me.com....and I can't change it, it's greyed out in Preferences - Account Information. Further, each time I put in the password, I click "remember in my keychain" and, well, it doesn't because I have to re-enter it every day.

I upgraded my iMac to Lion recently. Currently running OSX 10.7.3.
I suddenly am unable to have my .Mac email delivered to the Mail application on my iMac, yet my .Mac emails are delivered to my iPhone without any issues and I can also access them via logging-in to my iCloud account using an internet browser. My Mail account pane is as follows. Note that the Incoming Mail server is dimmed-out and I am unable to enter any text into it.

Recently my Mailbox started prompting me for my password. When I enter it, I get told the MobileMe IMAP server rejects it, so my mac mail is frozen in time when viewed on my MAC. Yet I can log into to my mail via web just fine, my iPhone and iPad have no problem. It seems like this is an issue that occurred recently after I migrated ot iCloud but I cant be sure. I haven't made any other changes or software upgrades and I've been happily using mail for years. How does one resync IMAP passords on the server (if that is what I need to do)?

My incoming mail server has changed to gray. Why? I cannot access it and I'm not getting my mail. It now has a "p02" in front of the imap. How do I edit this so I can get my mail on my MacBook again? Mail is coming through my iPhone only.

The default signature in outgoing messages from iCloud is "sent from iCloud". I can change that on a new email but that will work only once; in the next email the signagture is again "sent from iCloud". Is it possible to create a new default signatute? Is it possible to create this new signature in color?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have experienced problems with a POP outgoing server for some time on both my MacBook and IMac - incoming is OK. I have contacted the service provider and they say that all codes and log-in details are correct and that they can send from Webmail server ( and so can I). I can also use the outgoing server on my iPhone so it suggests that something is wrong in the settings on the iMac and MacBook - but they are correct and the same as the iPhone.I notice that this server shows 'offline' in th setting box - is this a clue?. I have not found anyway of making this server go on-line.
