I'm getting this error message today: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again. The server returned the error: The server “imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993. should the port or server address be changed?
I have been given the attached one-pager with screenshots of how to configure a Windows Outlook client to work with our corporate email system (Exchange).
I want to configure the Mail client on my Mac, however.
Can anyone give me a clue where these things are entered? When I add a new account in Mac Mail, and choose Exchange 2007, I don't see similar fields. My guesses so far have resulted in "the server cannot be contacted on port 443
I had an active @mac.com address and made a smooth transition to iCloud some months ago. My iCloud apple identity is my @mac.com address but since Sunday, I cannot send or receive emails with this address, only with my @me.com address. Same for iMac, iPhone and iPad.I have now spent two long phone calls with the apple help number. I then had a fast track on-line conversation with someone today for another hour to have it escalated to a senior advisor. They have tried to sort out the problem unsuccessfully - am sure they will have another go on Monday. In the meanwhile, is there anyone who has had the same problem before? I have tried changing my password on iCloud, deleting and reinstalling my iCloud on my iPhone but nothing has worked.
am unable to send receive email into my me.com account on my macbook, I clear the messages from trash and deleted messages and they keep returning and filling my icloud storage limit.
I accidentally changed some settings in the mail program on a friends iMac for the iCloud account. Now he cannot send or receive any mails. How can I reset the good settings?
I cant receive or send mail and I found out it is also keep retrieving maills like " recovered mail folder" ...I have deleted 80GB of recovered mails..
Gmail keeps disconnecting and I get a message saying the server cannot be contacted on port 993. I just installed a new router Linksys 4200, I don't have any problems with my ipad or iphone so seems to be specific to the imac.
I have been using my mac.com email years. All of a sudden it has stopped on my computer but works online. I checked my cloud settings and nothing was changed. I also sent mac an email for support.

Started off configuring the sendmail server through the known files. messed them up, stupid I know, but I'm learning...
I got the mailserver running again, get it working properly. First of all, the DNS is working as it should. Before I started, everything (except push notification server) was working.
(The PN server was a strange one, had to do with the difference in the name it fills in automatically from the Server Admin Mail panel)
Anyway, it is starting up now, but gives (for me) some strange logging's.
First of all, when I see some mailserver is trying to deliver mail it gets an error:NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from (smtp server) : 451 4.3.5 Server configuration problem; from=(sender)That should be a configuration error in the main.cf file.
But which one ?
The other is when I do a postfix check I get
/usr/libexec/postfix/post-install: Error: /usr/libexec/postfix/postfix-files is not a file.
postfix/postfix-script: fatal: unable to create missing queue directories
Strange, as I didn't change those settings
Is there a place where I can find the "original" from scratch main.cf and master.cf and the dovecot.cf files? If I have them I would and should be able to get it up again.. As I am running imap, am I going to loose all mail when I start a reinstall of postfix only, because of user issues ?
I said I cannot send or receive emails with my @mac.com email address even though both email addresses are listed within the mobileme acoount. I dont understand. I haven't changed anything or screwed up anything , actually I havent done anything at all, just check for emails.
My new employer uses Gmail as there email serves. It is a Japanese company and when I log into Gmail, even using the translator, most of the controls and text is still in Japanese.

I just got my Mac last week and ever since then I haven't been able to send mail from one account. I can both receive and send from my gmail account. My EDU account can only receive mail, and not send it. I've tried resetting the information, and even deleted the account a few times. All of the servers and ports are exactly like the school website says they should be.
So I've had my macbook since last January but have never been able to get the mail program to function. i set up my email address in the program but have never gotten an email or been able to send one.
any ideas on how to get it working? I'd really like to not have to log on to yahoo every few hours.
