ICloud :: Why Are MobileMe Users Being Forced To Switch
May 29, 2012
Add me to the list of MobileMe subscribers who are not happy about the chance to iCloud. I was very happy with MobileMe. I'd much rather pay for a good product vs. being forced to use an inferior free product. I back up all my work data to MobileMe/iDisk and I am concerned that it will not be transferred and that I may run into problems in the future. A previous post that I just read said that data will not be transferred. Is this true?? Also why are photos and videos not being transferred? Can they at least be manually reloaded?
My question is, will I be able to keep all my Mobile me eMail addresses? I had three @me.com addresses. Will all three still "work" after June 30th?Â
At still point, I have no inentention to upgrading to "Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow Mountain Lion, etc. I still use a couple of older apps like Appleworks and I like them better than any similar programs. I also still prefer to use Quicken 2007 which I was told won't work with Lion. Most of the computers I use are too old for Lion anyway.
Why Apple customers accept being forced to migrate to Icloud and Lion (an OS with bad reviews) before the end of June when knowing that Mountain Lion will be available a few weeks later?
I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but today my Apple Account forced me to change my Apple ID. Just moments ago, with all my prior Apple ID info intact, I downloaded the Beta for Messages. Is that involved?
A scammer is targeting MobileMe users with an email purporting to be from Apple. The email claims there are problems with the user's subscription renewal information, and directs them to a web site that asks them to reenter their credit card information. The email (below) appears to come from no[URL], and looks fleetingly like something Apple might send, although the outdated graphics come from .Mac marketing materials. Rather than directing users to login to their actual account at me.com and enter the SSL-protected accounts detail area, the phishing email links to a fraud site at [URL]
In another attempt to con MobileMe users into providing their credit card information, a scammer has sent out spam spoofed to appear to come from Apple, which directs users to a fake site designed to look like Apple's. Users who follow the email link and enter their information on the poorly formatted, fake Apple web page will be sorry.
Am I the only person who feels ripped off by having to upgrade to lion so I can keep my "mobileme" account? My Mac is only 1 1/2 years old. I have now tried downloading lion for the 3rd time and have 72 hours devoted to trying to get the download completed. The 2nd ended with error [after 12 hours!].
I have Imac. When we moved from mobile me to icloud, the calendar no longer pushes to icloud.Message in calendar is: The calendar url... was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct.
I've recently acquired an iMac and wanted to upgrade to Lion, however I believe I need to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard first - which could prove to end up costing a fortune! I've read recently that Apple are offering the upgrade to Snow Leopard free of charge for MobileMe users, however when I've followed a link to fill in a request form, this just takes me to the Find My Phone feature on iCloud.Â
I tried to switch my imp mail account over to an icloud account.the install did not finish.when I try to create a new icloud mail account it says the server is busy. Am I doing some thing wrong ? how do i get an icloud mail account for the mail program ? I can get to my mail fine by using the web browser and logging in to icloud that way.
When I switch to icloud will my email address still be @mac.com or will it change to [URL] And does this mean that I need to give everyone my NEW email address?
I have a prime iCloud account that I use to maintain a single address book and calendar. That way my wife and myself can both keep our address book and calendar the same and current. The iCloud account is in my name using my Apple ID and my wife's Mac is logged in to this account. Both of our Macs have a photo asssociated with our log on IDs. As long as my wife's Mac is logged in to iCloud (the desired situation) the log on photo that appears on her Mac is my photo not hers. I can succcessfulyl change it back to hers using the "Users and Groups" from the "Systems Preferences", but in no time at all it gets changed to my photo. I have isloated the problem to iCloud by having her Mac not logged in to my iCloud account and her photo remains unchanged, as I would expect.Â
On her Mac, I have reset the PRAM and executed a safe boot in an attempt to flush any strange data. I have not tried deleting any preferences files as I am not sure which ones to try.Â
Info: iMac (24-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3), iMac & MacBook Pro
I have a mobile me account which I have not used much, except for a gallery. After getting notice of mobile me ending, I can't seem to find if icloud will cost or not? Can someone direct me to that info?
I need to move from mobile.me to iCloud. The operating system on my macbook pro is 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, however Lion is required. Do I need to upgrade to Lion and can I upgrade for free? Or can I transfer without on my current OS?
i got a gift MobileMe, and my question is that any benefits from MobileMe? can i use the email of mobileme and use iweb to publish sits or it is useless now..i have iPhone 4 (IOS 5.1.1), iPad 1 (5.0.1) and Macbook pro (OS X 10.7.4)
I let my MobileMe account expire and now when I try to use my login name from MobileMe for my email address with iCloud it's says that this email address is already taken. How can add my MobileMe email to iCloud?
I made the iCloud transition before June 30 with an unsupported platform (SnowLeopard) as Mountain Lion was not yet available for download (and still isn't). I followed the instructions for the migration provided by Apple, and while I can send and receive email, my contacts are GONE. They were acquired over many years, and if they arenow irretrievable, I would lose all faith in Apple. Where are they and how can I retrieve them into my iCloud contact list?
