I need to move from mobile.me to iCloud. The operating system on my macbook pro is 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, however Lion is required. Do I need to upgrade to Lion and can I upgrade for free? Or can I transfer without on my current OS?
I'll be moving to iCloud on a new iMac running 10.7 soon. My main email is a mac.com address and my wife and daughter each have an 'email only' account associated with that. We need all those to continue to work. Does it matter which account we move first? I am worried something might get lost if we move the wrong one first. They are both running older macs so won't be able to get full icloud, but only need access to email at the moment.
Also, I currenty use use entourage and collect email using POP - I gather this will no longer be possible and I'll have to use IMAP, which I'm not familiar with - anything I need to bear in mind making that change? I'm currently in two minds whether to move to Mail or Outlook
I presently use Mobile Me for emails and back up. Mobile Me shuts down in June 2012 so I am looking to move to iCloud however the site tells me to download Lion which is fine BUT our Broadband is not able to download Lion as we live in a rural location. The Macbook I have is Snow Leopard.
Info: MacBook (13-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I am unable to move to iCloud - it keeps referring me to my settings page, even though I backed everything up. How can I proceed? it does mention that my mobileme account subscription will end 30 June 2012 but I should still be able to move to iCloud no?
Why not have Apple move all iDisk contents automatically or by request to iCloud? Why do I need to copy and paste my saved iDisk items back to my MAC or storage device? The iDisk items are already located in an Apple server, so transfer them to iCloud.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.8), Use laptop at wifi hotspots
I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?
I have Imac. When we moved from mobile me to icloud, the calendar no longer pushes to icloud.Message in calendar is: The calendar url... was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct.
I've backed up all the data I need to from my MobileMe family pack accounts, revised personal details where needed at appleid.apple.com for 5 accounts. Last night I was ready to move the least used family pack subaccount as a test.I've seen this before but have never followed the options My devices include original iPhone/iPhone3G, iPhone4S, iPad original (iOS 4 - not keen on upgrading to iOS 5 on this as all I need works fine - it hs no camera for Photostream), new iPad. I have various Macs running Snow Leopard and Lion. Consequently the 2nd option seems logical. Just in case hitting Next completed the process without confirming I contacted support. My specific 2 questions were:
1 - If I choose 2nd option do I miss out on any features on fully compatible devices or Lion computers?
Initial response seems to be no
2 - Do I need to fully upgrade somehow if at some point in the future I have no legacy devices/OS versions?
In response to 2 however I'm told it'll happen automatically on June 30th but won't be able to use iCloud until after the 30th on compatible devices. I'm very confused at this point and don't see the point of the options - why not just allow legacy access for everyone after the 30th on devices or OS where needed?
I successfully moved my mail, bookmarks, calendars, and address book from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday.Per the advice provided here on the forum, I deleted my existing pop mail (i.e., Earthlink) from Mail on my computer before the move. (I kept it on my iPad and iPhone and it appears to be working fine). can I add this pop account back in my desktop mail program so I can both mail accounts in the same place like before?
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo), Mac OS X (10.6.8), iPad (1st gen); iPhone 3GS
I am letting my mobile me email account expire, as I have switched internet providers and have free email on comcast.
Per their chat person, they do not have a way to transfer my mobile me emails to my new comcast account. ( If the mobile me account was not expiring, I could link the two. )
So, what is the best way to still be able to access my old emails?
I thought of backing up my mobile me emails, but the apple back up will still be "going away" from what I understand. Or can I save that backup copy to my mac and still access it somehow?
I have photo albums in iWeb that I would like to move to iPhoto. My computer crashed and some of the pictures on iWeb are the only ones I have. I have seen all the instruction on how to move pictures over from iGallery but, not iWeb.
I used to publish my iweb blog via mobileme. Just now I have changed to publish it via a ftp server and all contents of my iweb blog moved across to the new website address except blog comments! I really want to move my comments, but cannot work out how!!
