Add me to the list of MobileMe subscribers who are not happy about the chance to iCloud. I was very happy with MobileMe. I'd much rather pay for a good product vs. being forced to use an inferior free product. I back up all my work data to MobileMe/iDisk and I am concerned that it will not be transferred and that I may run into problems in the future. A previous post that I just read said that data will not be transferred. Is this true?? Also why are photos and videos not being transferred? Can they at least be manually reloaded?

My question is, will I be able to keep all my Mobile me eMail addresses? I had three @me.com addresses. Will all three still "work" after June 30th?Â
At still point, I have no inentention to upgrading to "Lion, Mountain Lion, Snow Mountain Lion, etc. I still use a couple of older apps like Appleworks and I like them better than any similar programs. I also still prefer to use Quicken 2007 which I was told won't work with Lion. Most of the computers I use are too old for Lion anyway.

My outgoing email still works but my incoming doesn't. I guess this is an imap problem but it won't let me into the imap setting to fix it.

If I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
Sometimes restarting is not enough: you need to power off your Mac, wait for a little, and power it on again. It could be a script which act like the "schedule" program in system preferences: it would switch off the Mac immediately, the add 1 minute to the current time and switch it on again.

I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year (in fact it might be exactly a year today). I recently just set up a new desk in my dorm and my room - I'm a somewhat avid gamer so I was given a Sony Vaio P4 Hyper Threaded and a really nice montior - a 22" widescreen. Anyway, I would like to be able to use both my awesome Mac and Vaio on this one lcd with a KVM switch. I had a Belkin in my room that I used but it didn't work
I'm really on a tight budget and do NOT want to spend anymore then $80 or so.
I'm looking at popping a SSD into my 2010 Mac Pro but have a couple of questions/concerns before I plunge into purchasing it.
Current Drives Setup:
Bay 1: 1TB HD (OS X)
Bay 2: 70GB Raptor (Windows)
Bay 3: 2TB HD (Backup)
Bay 4: (empty)
I'm looking at grabbing a OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 60GB (on sale). I don't need too large of a drive as I don't have a plethora of apps, so I think the 60GB will do.
My question - how do I transfer just the Apps and OS from the current boot drive (1TB) to the SSD? Can I run Migration Assistant to another internal drive?
Do I need a special bracket for the Mac Pro to convert the 2.5" SSD to 3.5" or will any bracket do the job?
I have decided to switch from a PC to a new Macbook Pro (whenever the new ones are released) but I am not 100% sold on switching from a MAC to a PC.

I recently purchased a Radeon 4870 for my Macpro & couldn't figure out a way to make the DVI port my main monitor port. It always mounts my desktop on the mini display port. Is there a way to reverse this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently use an iMac (20" late 2006 model) as my main computer, but for my next I am seriously considering a MacBook Air. I bought my iMac with the intention of using all of it's power (I got the 2.33Ghz with 256mb X1600), but the only time I really tap into the processor is when I encode video, which I do rarely anymore, and when I play games, which I never do anymore since I have a PS3 for that. Now, all I really do is websurf, listen to music, use Garageband, and other basic stuff.
View 20 Replies View Relatedi know you've already tackled this a thousand times, but, having read those thousand threads, i'm still not sure which of these i should go for. you all seem generous with your opinions, so i'll ask again.i need to replace my 4 year old dell 700m (12.1", 1.6ghz, 512mb ram, tiny 24gb HD) as it has become painfully slow and things are beginning to stop working. i've very much enjoyed its portability (it's small and weighs just over 4 pounds) which is why the MBA has caught my eye. my concern, is that i've heard all these things about it being underpowered - but underpowered for what? the lure of the MBP, of course, is that it's a lot more power for its moderate increase in bulk and weight.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy old work PC had an application running which added a small < button to the menu bar next to the restore, min and max buttons which, when clicked would move that window to the adjacent screen.
Is there an app like this for OS X? I'm really looking for something I can evoke with a keyboard shortcut like spaces that simply moves the selected window to the same position on the adjacent screen so i don't have to constantly leave the keyboard to move windows around.
I have Spaces set up to "switch directly to a space" using command+# For some reason, however, Spaces will only switch directly to Space # No matter what applications I have chosen for Spaces 2, 3, and 4, Spaces will NOT directly switch to them using the shortcut. I can still switch to them manually with command+arrow keys, though. It doesn't matter what application I choose as Space 1... I can directly switch to it. But the other 3 spaces just won't allow me to directly switch. (Yes, there's applications open and active in each of those spaces.) Anybody encounter this or know what's up?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been following this forum for over 2 months now and I'm proud to say that it helped me to finally make the decision to buy a mac. I've always been an iPod-fanatic but a completely new OS seemed like a very drastic change. I recently moved houses and now I live about 200 metres from an apple store, so I guess it was just a matter of time before I caved in .Now that I've been using my new laptop for about a week I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed using a computer as much as I do now. I'm already getting frustrated when using my PC (a Dell Inspiron 1525) to transfer files because it doesn't function as fluently as my mac, I believe that this is a good sign . What I like the most about my new machine are the multi-touch gestures on the trackpad and the very good battery life (I can easily watch over 3.5 hours of video with Airport turned off and low light conditions. Coming from barely 1h15 of word processing on my Dell, I can say that I'm quite impressed). I'm also a lot more productive on this computer than I ever was on any other laptop, I don't know what it is but i'm guessing it has something to do with the fullscreen option in Pages '09. Also, the backlit keyboard is incredibly useful when instant messaging in my room in the middle of the night without my parents knowing, or typing in dark lecture halls.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have switched from pc to mac now for about 1.5 years and I LOVE mac! I'm still learning a ton but i was wondering if I should switch from running tiger and install leopard. I mainly use photoshop and final cut and had heard that there were some problems with running photoshop with leopard. not sure if that's true though. I would do an erase and install and start completely fresh.
