May 29, 2012Add me to the list of MobileMe subscribers who are not happy about the chance to iCloud. I was very happy with MobileMe. I'd much rather pay for a good product vs. being forced to use an inferior free product. I back up all my work data to MobileMe/iDisk and I am concerned that it will not be transferred and that I may run into problems in the future. A previous post that I just read said that data will not be transferred. Is this true?? Also why are photos and videos not being transferred? Can they at least be manually reloaded?

Sep 22, 2009In iTunes 9 I have been having a crashing issue randomly. I have pinpointed it down to it happening when other users connect to my shared Library. As soon as someone clicks on my shared music library it sys connecting and My iTunes pops up the crash report. I am using a 2GHz MacBook with OS 10.6 Is anyone else having this problem?

Feb 13, 2012Today when we started trying to add users to our server (we use it only for afp access at this time), we noticed that new users belonging to a group "storage" were unable to login from client machines via afp (clients both 10.7.2 and 10.6.8).
When we tried editing the users accounts to change which groups they belonged to, it would appear in workgroup (and server preferences) that the changes would take but there was still no access.
As a test case, we modified an existing user who had no issues logging in to belong to a diffenent group and have different sharepoint access. The changes looked good in workgroup and server prefs, but when the user logged in, he was only able to acces his old sharepoint and not the new one (and since his permissions to the old were removed, he shouldn't have access to that sharepoint).
Also, for some reason users cannot be deleted within workgroup manager any more. The login used was the diradmin account.

Mar 22, 2012I am currently am MBA student and must create projects using power point/ keynote, very often. Many of the power points/ keynotes created by students are informative but lack the ability to hold an audience’s attention (boring). Since I have this wonderful Macbook pro, I would like to create a dynamic keynote presentation which would include clips of audio and video files (I already know about converting keynote to power point). The only problem is, the videos I want to use in the keynote presentation are not able to be manipulated in iMovie (due to their format), and if they where able to be manipulated in iMovie, I’m not sure that PC users would be able to properly view them.
What video format (including embedded audio) is able to be viewed and heard by both OSX Lion users and Windows users? If this is possible, can anyone suggest a safe application that I can purchase from the apple app store that will allow me to convert video files (including embedded audio) so that it can be viewed by both Lion and PC users? Preferably one that does not need access to the internet in order to convert the files ( I’m on the go allot and use an air card for internet access), but I will take it if this is the best option. If the app store does not have this type of application, is there a place that I can download a safe one?

Home sharing the library that currently exists just in the Admin account does not seem to do the trick.
If so, would the library need to be re-located outside of the Admin users account, or not? For example to an external drive?
The reason for asking is that my wife and I both wish to sync our iPhones to the same set of iTunes playlists, movies, app's etc, (and iPhoto albums, but that is a different posting) but need to maintain separate user accounts on the iMac so that we can have independent Mail and Address books.
I stress that this will be on the same machine, (as the laptop has died and is to be replaced with an iPad) so there is no risk of both accounts attempting to access the library at the same time.

I've tried one method on here HT1203 but it makes a second copy and fills up my hard drive. I do not want to share the whole media library just the music. There must be an easy way to use two iPhones with separate user ids on one Mac so we don't mix up our apps. Sep 13, 2009So, back in the day (last week actually) I always had my iTunes in "mini player mode" on the right hand side on the bottom of my screen, just above the trash bin. When I needed to select a song or a different playlist, I would click the green button, apply my settings, and click the green button again and go back on about my business. However, with iTunes 9, you have to hold the option key to switch to the mini player. I am severly bothered by this, is there any way to hack iTunes with the terminal fix this? I liked it the old way. Who's with me? Also, when iTunes is not the active window, and you switch to mini, the active screen is automatically hidden (like when you push Cmd+H)

I need to share the iTunes library (and iphoto eventually) so I dont have to double-up everything.
I have tried dragging the Itunes Music into the shared folder... and creating aliases as described in various places on the web and in magazines, but this simply does not work. No tracks appear in my wife's itunes. There is not even 'shared library' icon on the left hand side.

On Windows I always had my System Volume which I tried not to touch at all and then had another partition with all my data to be able to reinstall Windows without having to backup all my data. How does that work on a Mac? Do I need to reinstall Mac OS at least once a year as well because it has become terribly slow? Any other reasons why I should have different partitions?2.Partitions II: I am going to keep a copy of XP running on my Mac as well. I?d like to install it via BootCamp and then use it either with BootCamp or with Parallels or VMWare (prolly the former). Do I have to define the Windows partition beforehand? Because I guess the OS will come preinstalled, right?
