I want to use the "Back to my Mac" feature. Under Settings>iCloud it says "Set up router for better performance". What can I do to solve this?
My current setup: AirPort Extreme 5th Gen which connects using PPPoE to the Internet and provides DHCP and NAT. The AirPort Extreme is connected via Ethernet to the modem from my ISP, which is set to bridge mode.
I'm looking to purchase 12 GB of Ram for my 2009 Octo Mac Pro. I've heard it is always better to go with 3 sticks of Ram rather than 4 with the 2009 Mac Pro, but is it better to go with 6 sticks rather than 3? What I'm looking to do is at 12 GB with either 4GB x 3 all on one side, or 2GB x 6 with 3 sticks on each side. I would prefer the 4GB sticks so I can upgrade later if needed to 24 GB. What I wanted to know is will I lose performance by only have 3 sticks of memory rather than 6 or does it not matter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSetting up raid 0 for my mac pro 3,1. Right now I have the stock 320GB drive that I use with Mac OS X, and an additional 500GB drive running Win XP through Bootcamp. I read on apple's site that you could stripe multiple drives to create a raid 0 to increase performance on the Mac Pro w/o the raid controller card. So my question is how do I do that? I'm in the process of picking a new 2TB drive to set up the raid with the 320GB OS drive. Since the 500GB one is dedicated for XP I don't think I could include it in the raid right?

Can i just buy another standard $40 wireless G router and "extend" my wireless network? if so, how easy would this be to accomplish?
would it be as simple as hooking up the $40 router with my airport extreme using via ethernet cable so that it extends it?

I'm trying to connect an AE to my PC using XP with a D-Link DIR-655 WiFi router. I've used the airport utility and connected the AE to my router via ethernet. It appears to be setup properly and I can see it on the D-Link software. After disconnecting the ethernet cable and with the AE sitting next to the router it continually shows up and then disappears. The light is green on the AE. Then I disconnected the power and moved the AE into the place where I'm going to use it.
Now it will show up on my D-Link software occasionally but the light won't turn green. It also doesn't show up on the airport utility software. I also have a Touch and ATV that both work fine on the same network and the same location. The AE is about 30 feet from the router with only one wall in between them. Am I missing something here or could there be a problem with the AE?
Having issues in setting up my Apple Extreme + Apple Express to my Linksys E2100L ROUTER/NETWORK. I have Green lights on my extreme and express with the Linksys router having the extreme attached to the router (ethernet) with express in another room for my Blu-ray. The Linksys does not see the Extreme or Express. I am using WPA2 Security on the Linksys router. How can I get the Linksys to see the Apple Extreme/ Express? Is there something I need to do on the Linksys end or on the Extreme/Express so that they can talk to each other?

1. I own a D-link wired router and a d-link wireless router. I have been tempted to buy the express, hook it into my wired router and run wireless off of the apple. I want the express so I can run itunes on my stereo from anywhere in the house.
Would there be any advantages to me using the wireless router in conjunction with the airport express instead?2. I am interested in the DHCP comments from above. If I turn off DHCP on the airport express then any friends who come over to use the wireless internet will need to be personally configured. Could I just assign the Airport Express a static IP address on the wired router, keep a DHCP on on the express for my friends and turn off DHCP on the wired router?
3. I have a PS3. I don't want to slow my gaming speed down. I intend on plugging the PS3 into my existing router (wired or wireless router, I will have it wired though) Will daisy chaining the express off of the router slow down my PS3 connection when other users are not using it?

Next week I will be working 3 days in the office and 2 from my home in Leeds. I have 2 iMacs - one for each location. I was wondering whether there's a way of setting up iCloud with my work email address in order to sync my emails on both machines? I have to refer to my emails quite a lot in my job and it will be rather frustrating to have some one one machine and the rest on the other. Oue email server is POP only. I am trying to setup photostream to work with two iPhones. I have created a me.com account for one of them and a gmail.com account for the other iPhone. The me.com account works for photostream but I cannot get the gmail account to work. The me.com account says that it is the primary account. I am having a problem with making the router they supplied my default router.I am not trying to piggy back or connect additional routers. I just want to use the Fios router.Prior to Fios, I had Time Warner and i used my own router and as soon as I opened up my macbook, it would immediately find that router as my default. Upstairs I have my AT&T provided router's wireless turned off and have plugged my Airport Extreme into the ethernet in DMZ mode. Wireless works fine in the house.Downstairs my Xbox 360's ethernet cable is plugged into my AT&T provided set-top box (receiver/DVR) and internet works fine on that. I cannot stream my media (using 360 Connect) from my mac to my xbox since they are on different networks, although using the same U-verse connection.When checking the AT&T router's system summary page I can see that there is an IP assigned to the xbox.
