Feb 28, 2012Next week I will be working 3 days in the office and 2 from my home in Leeds.  I have 2 iMacs - one for each location. I was wondering whether there's a way of setting up iCloud with my work email address in order to sync my emails on both machines? I have to refer to my emails quite a lot in my job and it will be rather frustrating to have some one one machine and the rest on the other. Oue email server is POP only. I use Apple Mail on both machines.Â

Jun 12, 2010just got a macbook pro and wanted to configure my hotmail accounts to be read in mail 4.2 in such a way any change I did in the webmail could be seen in mail and viceversa. When configuring it automatically (letting mail figure out all my account details) that didn�t happen; I was told that I need to set the account type to Imap for this sync to happen.
When I configure a new account in Mail 4.2 the account type (pop) appears automatically, and there�s no chance I can change it, not even afterwards when going to the account menu.

Jun 25, 2012Up till now, all the family have been using just one user account on our iMac. (OK, I now know that's not a good idea!) I'm now going to be working from home so have set up a new user as Work. I've been using an IMAP mail service in Mail on the family user account and I've now set it up on the work account. If I delete the IMAP account from Mail in the family user account, will this delete my mail off the IMAP server so I cannot access it on the wrok user account?

Oct 12, 2010Setting up hotmail in Entourage. I've tried countless solutions but none seem to work in my case. The problem seems to be that I can't send or receive mail (typical problem). POP server is pop3.live and I've entered my hotmail address and password. The smtp server is [URL]. I've tried many combinations of POP and smtp ports like,
110, 25 (respectively) Error message: -3259
225, 25 Error message: -3259
995, 25 -17897
I've also had Error message -16999 but I've forgotten which combination I had for that. In advanced options for POP server, SSL and Secure Password is checked; for smtp server, SSL and require authentication are checked. I've tried using the same settings as mail server and also logging on using my Account ID and Password. Also, I have a rule set up for send and receive every 1 minute (Entourage doesn't seem to like that; it wants me to do it every 15 minutes which isn't suitable). It seems like I've exhausted all possibilities and I still can't send or receive my emails! The odd thing is that when I initially set up my hotmail account, it was able to download all the messages from the server without a hitch.
OS X :: Mail Setup With IMAP Gmail Never Updates
Aug 19, 2009First of all, it's set up with IMAP Gmail and if I quit and restart it, it syncs with Gmails servers and respects what I've read, deleted and sent from other places (such as my iPhone), but won't do that while the application is open. If I leave it open all the time, it never updates. What up wit' dat? Secondly, I've emptied out the Inbox into another mailbox called 'Old Unsorted' which I'm filing away bit by bit, so that the Inbox could remain fairly empty most of the time, ideally to speed it up a bit. But when I open the application, and indeed even when it's sitting idle, the title at the top of the window says "Inbox (4294956420 messages)" when in fact there's about 7 in there. If I delete one, the total goes down by 1, so what's going on? Also it rarely ever BINGs when I get new Mail these days. Occasionally it does, but not often. System is totally up to date, Software Update-wise.

Apr 3, 2010No matter which from address I select in mail the email that are sent only come from one address. This address being one of my own domain which is accessed via imap from google apps in mail. No matter what other address I select from be it a mac.com address (or alias) or another address those that receive the email see it as from this one address. I have checked the preferences and it is set to send from address account of selected mail box. I can only send emails from one of 6 accounts in mail.

Nov 6, 2010I just installed Mac Office 2011 and am having trouble connecting my hotmail account to Outlook. I go to add my hotmail account and everything seems to work, but it does not show up on the left side under inbox or anything. When I go back into settings, it shows the hotmail as my default account, but I can't see any of my messages. Also, periodically alerts pop up in the bottom right hand corner showing "new" messages, however they are really, really old emails from my hotmail account.
I can click on the alert and read the old message, but I can't find where those messages are on Outlook. I have successfully added my gmail account and my home university's account. One other thing to mention, when I delete the hotmail acct and try to add it again, it always adds "On my computer" under the inbox section. This "inbox" keeps popping up with old old emails. So I go into preferences/general and hide it.
OS X :: Cannot Remove IMAP Account From Mail
Apr 21, 2010I'm using OSX 10.6 & Mail 4.2.
We just want to use a POP account with Mail.
For some reason an IMAP account was previously added, which I want to delete (Mail keeps trying to send / receive from this IMAP account, which isn't set up, and stops Mail working)
However, when I try and delete it by going to Mail -> Preferences, then selecting the IMAP account and pressing the '-' button - it won't delete it! It just stays there in the left hand column. How to I delete it?
