I have a few questions:
1. Should extra hard drives be bought third party?

3. How much memory should he buy for Final Cut operations? (third party)
4. Should he look into getting a Dell monitor instead of Apple? What is a comparable Dell monitor?
5. 4-Core or 8-Core?

Dec 14, 2009I have a 30G ipod thats almost full. I have it sync'ed to my MBP so I don't lose any music. But I don't wanna keep it stored on my internal drive, rather an external drive. It takes up too much space.
Should I just set the ext drive up as a separate bootable drive, and only sync my ipod when this drive is booted/connected?

We do not use iCloud presently. In preparation for Mountain Lion, I am considering turning on iCloud in system preferences. It is possible or advisable for us to have two iCloud accounts? I ask that because she has exclusive use of our one iPad and I have exclusive use of our one iMac. Since iCloud facilitates sharing of data among devices, is there any reason to have one iCloud account synching the MBP and the iPad, and another synching the MBP and my iMac?

I was wondering whether there's a way of setting up iCloud with my work email address in order to sync my emails on both machines? I have to refer to my emails quite a lot in my job and it will be rather frustrating to have some one one machine and the rest on the other. Oue email server is POP only. OS X :: Time Machine Backups Missing / Unable To Find Backups
Sep 30, 2008My Time Machine has been making the usual regular backups for a few months onto my Time Capsule. I just found that all the backups prior to about a week ago have vanished. It's not a disaster (I think) as I assume that the current backups reflect what's on my iMac (I haven't had to delete files from it yet).
Where did they go? Why did they go?
A possible connection: My TC is 500GB; my iMac 1TB. I recently put extra files for temporary use onto the iMac hard drive - Time Machine said (in effect) 'that's too much, try removing certain folders from the backup'. I excluded said folder and things seemed okay, but it would be at around the time I did that that my old backups have gone.

Nov 4, 2009Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with the Time Machine. I bought a 500gb Time Capsule last July and it has been running perfectly until a few days agp. I noticed that all my backups were no where to be seen (when entering Time Machine on my MBP) and that it was doing a full backup.. The backup took the guts of 36 hours.
I've come home today to find that all backups are gone again and it is doing another full backup!!!Any ideas what is wrong here?

Apr 25, 2009I am trying to setup a firefighter's apple laptop into our linksys net at firestation. She got access fine when we did not have it secured but now we setup a wep key. All other members can get in by entering wep key when they choose the wireless router but when we input the wep key to apple laptop airport I think we get connection error. Key is definitely right. What changed in the apple setup other than the wep key, again when signal was unsecure laptop safari worked fine. The linksys is a B about 3 years old.
