Applications :: Hotmail Setup Failure In Entourage
Oct 12, 2010Setting up hotmail in Entourage. I've tried countless solutions but none seem to work in my case. The problem seems to be that I can't send or receive mail (typical problem). POP server is pop3.live and I've entered my hotmail address and password. The smtp server is [URL]. I've tried many combinations of POP and smtp ports like,
110, 25 (respectively) Error message: -3259
225, 25 Error message: -3259
995, 25 -17897
I've also had Error message -16999 but I've forgotten which combination I had for that. In advanced options for POP server, SSL and Secure Password is checked; for smtp server, SSL and require authentication are checked. I've tried using the same settings as mail server and also logging on using my Account ID and Password. Also, I have a rule set up for send and receive every 1 minute (Entourage doesn't seem to like that; it wants me to do it every 15 minutes which isn't suitable). It seems like I've exhausted all possibilities and I still can't send or receive my emails! The odd thing is that when I initially set up my hotmail account, it was able to download all the messages from the server without a hitch.

Jul 1, 2012i had a mobile me account....i migrated to iCloud.  i still use my email address with [URL]. iCloud works on my iphone and i get the email pushed to my iphone. however, i now get server time outs from my computers when accessing the emails. i suspect it has to do with the mobileme shutting down. so what should my settings be now in Entourage?Â

Feb 18, 2012Does icloud work with Entourage 2008 for Mac for email?  Mac says it does but Microsoft says it does not support icloud in Entourage's email program, or in 2011 Office for Mac.  I have the same impression for 20 years---Apple and MSFT refuse to communicate on anything impacting their customers and we suffer.Â

Feb 17, 2012Last week, my MS Entourage quit getting my me.com mail. It gives me a Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods. error message. It was working fine and suddenly quit. I can access my mail by going to icloud as well as on my ipad, but not on my iMac using MS Entourage. When I set up a new account and have it "Verify My Settings," I get a "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" (-17900 ), yet its the same user name and password used on the ipad and icloud.com logon. My iMac operating system is 10.7.3 and Entourage is 12.3.2

We do not use iCloud presently. In preparation for Mountain Lion, I am considering turning on iCloud in system preferences. It is possible or advisable for us to have two iCloud accounts? I ask that because she has exclusive use of our one iPad and I have exclusive use of our one iMac. Since iCloud facilitates sharing of data among devices, is there any reason to have one iCloud account synching the MBP and the iPad, and another synching the MBP and my iMac?

Feb 28, 2012Next week I will be working 3 days in the office and 2 from my home in Leeds.  I have 2 iMacs - one for each location. I was wondering whether there's a way of setting up iCloud with my work email address in order to sync my emails on both machines? I have to refer to my emails quite a lot in my job and it will be rather frustrating to have some one one machine and the rest on the other. Oue email server is POP only. I want to import into Entourage the e-mail from a backup of the disk. I know how to import mail into Entourage from other e-mail programs and I know how to import mail into Entourage from an archive created by exporting from Entourage, but I cannot figure out how to import from a backup of the folders under the "/Users/(username)/Documents/Microsoft User Data" folder, under which is where Entourage stores mail.

Apr 25, 2009I am trying to setup a firefighter's apple laptop into our linksys net at firestation. She got access fine when we did not have it secured but now we setup a wep key. All other members can get in by entering wep key when they choose the wireless router but when we input the wep key to apple laptop airport I think we get connection error. Key is definitely right. What changed in the apple setup other than the wep key, again when signal was unsecure laptop safari worked fine. The linksys is a B about 3 years old.
