I have an airport express set up which i use on my macbook when running os x, however when i run windows 7 on the same macbook, it cant connect to the airport. It's a first gen core duo macbook, i.e. it is 802.11g , any idea why it doesnt work? This is a screen shot of the error message...

Ok, I feel like a doofus, but I need some help if someone is willing.
I bought an Airport Extreme and installed per instructions on the Mac partition. The Extreme replaces an Express as the base unit, the express now extends the range of the network (and is now connected to my stereo system). So, the "new" network that was set up has the exact same name as the old one when it was just the Express.
Everything works fine on the mac side. When I go to my Win XP side (Boot camp) it sees the network but says it cannot connect. To put is simply, I can't remeber what I need to do. I haven't had to mess with this stuff since I set it up almost 2 years ago. Do I need to set up a new network?... I am just drawing a blank. Is keeping the same name for the "new" network part of my problem?
I am having trouble printing from Windows (Bootcamp) to a printer connected USB to an Airport Express. Mac OS works fine - sets up the printer and prints simply. Windows isn't finding it.
I searched the forums, and followed the advice of connecting the printer directly and getting the drivers. This worked fine - and I could then print from Win 7 (64 bit)... But still no Airport joy.
Anyone know if I can check whether Bonjour was installed? Is it automatic when doing bootcamp? I've been trying to get it from the apple site, but the link is down:[URL]
but then it doesn't work. bonjour doesn't scan anything. i've been not wirelessly printing in the past 4 months that i've had this thing [URL]. i have latest windows xp sp3 and i have wifi on/off on my macbook pro. i only use bootcamp.

I recently purchased an airport express base station to put my usb printer (Epson Stylus photo 1390)on the network. All macbook pros & imacs are printing efficiently on wireless. Macpros are using the printer shared from one imac. But i don't understand how do i connect my windows pcs to the printer (all are on ethernet lan). Is there a way to connect them.

It worked fine with our older Belkin wireless router but when we upgraded to AirPort Express it detects the wireless network but when I go to connect to the web and type in the network password it scrolls forever. If I go into the AirPort Utility settings and turn off the security ("WPS/WPS2 personal" changed to "none") then the PC can access the web via the wireless network but I don't want an unsecured connection.

Can I cable the AirPort via Cat5 to the same router and use that configuration to push music from iTunes to the Stereo receiver? All the configurations I see in the AirPort documentation show the input to it being wireless.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a D-Link Extreme router, and the WiFi has issues with my MacBook and such every so often and it drives me absolutely crazy. But I have 2 wired computers and a Xbox 360 that never have a problem plugged into the router via ethernet. I was wondering if I bought a Airport Express and plugged it into the 4th port of my router rather then into modem would it have enough juice to transfer the WiFi? I don't want to spend the extra money on a more expensive router for some plugs and WiFi if I can still use my router for wired and send a wire to the Airport for wireless. Yet I don't want to spend the money on the Airport Express if it can't be used like that like some other routers can.

My 360 is in another room.. and while I have a long enough ethernet cable to hardwire it to the router, that's pretty inconvenient and doesn't really look that good. So my question is... how would the connection quality be if I connect it to the airport express? Is it like hardwiring it?

I'd like to put my airport express in my kitchen and pair them so its the same network. The reason for this is that I have my HIFI in the kitchen which will be plugged into my airport so I can use it as remote speakers for my itunes while I'm still connected to the 50mb and D Link. However when reading through the manual (I know who reads the manual nowadays) i discovered something interesting. Chapter 3: Setting Up Your Airport Express, page 25, states the following, "If you connect a USB printer or hard disk to your Airport Express, all of the computers on the network can print to the printer or share files on the hard disk." The Apple website clearly indicates that sharing a Hard Disk through an Airport Express is not possible. Is my discovery a one of dodgy print of the manual or are other people seeing this as well? A possibility that Apple could be enabling AirDisk use on the Airport Express in the near future?

Based, on the information that I have read in this forum, I just have to plug the Airport Express into an outlet near my receiver and then I have to run an audio in cable from the airport express to the receiver. I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon

I have set up a USB disk on my airport extreme.
I can access this disk from both mac and windows (via airdisk utility).
My problem is when the disk is connected to windows XP and written to, the disk becomes unavailable on my mac.
When rebooting my mac, the disk now pops up as a PC server. I can�t connect to it.
When rebooting the airport, I can access the disk again.
i want to know how i can connect my mbp to a lan network full of windows pcs.

Now, I want to be able to access the Mini from Vista on the laptop. Windows Sharing is on, and in Vista I select Run-> "192.168.1.100" (the IP address of the Mini), and an explorer window pops up asking me for a password. I enter the password for the administrator account I use to log in on the Mini, "user1" and "blahblah", where "user1" is the user ID, not the name associated with the account, i.e. "John Doe".

Well, Windows recognizes the device, but whenever I attempt to connect the two I get an error. The error states: Adding the device failed resulting in a unknown error. The reported error code is: 0x80004005. It then tells me to contact the device manufacturer. Did anyone else get this error?

View 1 Replies View RelatedPreviously I was running Windows XP and one of my XP drives was shared on the network and the various Macs (Leopard) that I was running. The Macs had no issues connecting via the networking/file sharing. As soon as I upgraded XP to Windows 7, I noticed a significantly slower time to connect to the drive (a couple minutes). Once I installed Snow Leopard on one of the Macs (rest still running Leopard), that time increased to about 4 minutes to connect. This drive needs to be shared amongst PCs and Macs, and I tried to use SMB, but nothing seems to solve the issue why it takes so long to connect. All the Mac updates have been installed. How can I make it faster so I'm not sitting for 4 minutes every time I need to connect?
