Hardware :: Connecting AirPort Express To Stream Music

Jan 22, 2010

I have an existing Airport Extreme wireless network. I would like to connect an Airport Express to stream music through the house. Based, on the information that I have read in this forum, I just have to plug the Airport Express into an outlet near my receiver and then I have to run an audio in cable from the airport express to the receiver. That seems simple enough, but I am so confused when I look at the back of my receiver that I don't know where to plug the audio cable into.

OS X :: Airtunes Blipping - Doesn't Stream Music Direct From Source To Express?

Dec 20, 2009

I have step up Airtunes (Express) and it works fine from computers on the LAN connected via ethernet, but the one PC it doesnt work well on is in the kitchen (wireless with a 90% connection N). The express obviosly has a good connection otherwise it wouldnt work on the other PCs. It seems that the way iTunes works is that if you play music from a shared location (we have a music server) it doesnt stream the music direct from the source to the express, the music travels via the PC with which is controlling the music (which is a bit silly?) Due to this, the Kitchen PC doesnt work well, but if when clicked play, the music went straight from the source to the express it would work fine

Software :: Connecting PC To Airport Express?

Jan 23, 2010

I cannot get my PC to access the web through my wireless connection to AirPort Express. It worked fine with our older Belkin wireless router but when we upgraded to AirPort Express it detects the wireless network but when I go to connect to the web and type in the network password it scrolls forever. If I go into the AirPort Utility settings and turn off the security ("WPS/WPS2 personal" changed to "none") then the PC can access the web via the wireless network but I don't want an unsecured connection.

Hardware :: Connecting AirPort Express With Router

Nov 18, 2010

I have a D-Link Extreme router, and the WiFi has issues with my MacBook and such every so often and it drives me absolutely crazy. But I have 2 wired computers and a Xbox 360 that never have a problem plugged into the router via ethernet. I was wondering if I bought a Airport Express and plugged it into the 4th port of my router rather then into modem would it have enough juice to transfer the WiFi? I don't want to spend the extra money on a more expensive router for some plugs and WiFi if I can still use my router for wired and send a wire to the Airport for wireless. Yet I don't want to spend the money on the Airport Express if it can't be used like that like some other routers can.

Hardware :: Connecting Xbox 360 To Airport Express

I have an Airport Extreme connected to cable modem. I also have an Airport Express for some reason. My 360 is in another room.. and while I have a long enough ethernet cable to hardwire it to the router, that's pretty inconvenient and doesn't really look that good. So my question is... how would the connection quality be if I connect it to the airport express? Is it like hardwiring it?

OS X :: Connecting And Pairing Airport Express To D Link Router?

Nov 11, 2010

Not sure if this is possible, I'm sure there's someone out there who would be able to tell me either way. I've got a D Link router thats plugged into my 50mb in my lounge. I'd like to put my airport express in my kitchen and pair them so its the same network. The reason for this is that I have my HIFI in the kitchen which will be plugged into my airport so I can use it as remote speakers for my itunes while I'm still connected to the 50mb and D Link. Is this possible?

Hardware :: Airport Express (802.11n) - Connecting A Hard Disk

Apr 19, 2008

I have recently purchased an Apple Airport Express and have successfully set up a wireless network, connecting AirTunes and my printer. However when reading through the manual (I know who reads the manual nowadays) i discovered something interesting. Chapter 3: Setting Up Your Airport Express, page 25, states the following, "If you connect a USB printer or hard disk to your Airport Express, all of the computers on the network can print to the printer or share files on the hard disk." The Apple website clearly indicates that sharing a Hard Disk through an Airport Express is not possible. Is my discovery a one of dodgy print of the manual or are other people seeing this as well? A possibility that Apple could be enabling AirDisk use on the Airport Express in the near future?

Hardware :: Connecting Airport Express To Already Existing Network

My family use Dell computers and we all feed off the same router which is Linksys. Although, what happens is because of the location of the linksys router, my signal comes and goes weekly. I was wondering if I were to purchase an Airport Express, would I be able to use is as an extender/booster with the existing network that I already have? If I cannot do that, would i still be able to use the Airport Express and have it dedicated to just my computer? and if so, how do i go about doing that?

It used to work flawlessly, but now whenever I try listening to music from my MacBook, it plays for a few seconds, then goes silent for a second or two, then continues playing. It just keeps going like that. It never used to. It doesn't do this when playing music from the iMac and Mac mini, only the Macbook Pro. I've tried resetting the Airport, and changing settings in iTunes on the MacBook, but nothing works.

Hardware :: Using IPhone To Push Music To Home Stereo Via AirPort Express?

Apr 14, 2009

I just set up a second AirPort Express - connected to the home stereo - to allow the Mac laptops to push iTunes music to the home stereo system wirelessly. This worked on the first try. See, I'm a recently converted PC guy... I'm used 15-20 attempts followed by a few calls to the tech support...

So, as soon as the novelty wore off (it hasn't completely) I tried to network the iPhone... couldn't do it. I can't find where to swap the speaker from "Computer" to "Stereo" (the name assigned to the AirPort).

Is this possible? Should I just be happy with the laptop?

Hardware :: Airport Extreme Not Forwarding Airdisk To Connected Airport Express Network?

Apr 25, 2010

I have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.

Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.

My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.

For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.

The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.

OS X :: How To Stream Music To Another PC / (almost) Free Airtunes

Feb 8, 2009

So You like the Idea of being able to stream your music over wifi? but you don't want to pay 100$ for a aiport base station? and you have some "old" pc/macs sitting around?

I found the ultimate solution for you!

I tried to stream my music (use my old laptops as a wifi speaker station) for some time now, and I recently found Airfoil [URL] and it works GREAT!!! it even includes a video player which automaticly syncs the sound to the video(VERY usefull)

you only need The application, and another pc/mac, its really easy to set up, and you can not only stream iTunes music, but also any other sound on your mac!! I use it everyday, and I just wanted to share that, because i did not find any other solution!
