I have no problem using my wired keyboard to boot into Windows using boot camp. but when I use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, holding down the option button when powering up does not work. Anyone else have this problem?

There are a variety of options that can be used when you boot the Mac, such as hold down the C key to boot from a CD/DVD, hold down the option key to choose the boot drive, etc. When you have a BT keyboard, it doesn't connect until it is booted. How do you get the iMac to recognize, say, the Option key?

I have had my Mac Pro for a few years now, and I rewired the bluetooth module when I first got it. I then had Airport installed about 3 months ago, and had to rewire it again because the "geniuses" at Apple didn't know the wires were labeled incorrectly. I just moved my computer downstairs and my Apple Bluetooth keyboard is not working correctly. It lags, repeats letters, etc. Upstairs on one desk, it worked fine. Down here, on a different desk, It's acting up. My keyboard is on the left middle of the desk, and the computer is on the floor on the right side. Total distance is less than three feet, with a file drawer inbetween. It works if I put it in my lap, but not on the desk. I just opened it up to check the wires again, and they are tight, and right.

I hit the connect button on the keyboard and select connect in the bluetooth menu on my desktop; the icon shows that it is connected, it even says it is, but no response. I've tried restarting, turning the keyboard off and on...nothing. Fault of the update? Fault of Rocketfish and it just ironically quit working after the update? The model I have is this one. [URL]

I have to hold the option button to manually select the windows partition and then load into windows. Some setting somewhere must be lost. Does anyone know how to restore it?

Its the new bluetooth aluminum one, without the numberpad.When connected to his computer, it acts like a mouse.... The "i" key clicks, i think it was 'G' moves the cursor, and will no type at all. The 'F' keys work, volume up, down, play pause.... those work. It will even eject, but will not type.
The funny thing? It works fine with my aluminum macbook....Both are 10.5.6
My bluetooth wirless keyboard suddenly stopped working. It started with the low battery alert, so I changed the batteries, however after replacing the batteries, it stopped working even though it says connected.

My iMac recently shows a "low battery" warning on the keyboard batteries.
The iMac's hard drive had just been fixed by a shop and the OS re-installed. To my surprise I didn't need to do anything to get it to recognize both bluetooth keyboard and mouse - it just worked! Wow.
Until yesterday. I took out the keyboard batteries, charged them, and put them back in.
Now I get the login prompt where I have to enter a password. The only problem is, I can't enter a password without a keyboard! And it doesn't recognize the keyboard.
I tested the keyboard with my MacBook Pro - it works just fine. So I believe that somehow the iMac thinks it's still paired with the keyboard, while the keyboard knows nothing about this. And between those two things it doesn't work.
I restarted multiple times, and tried to start from another partition by holding down option - the problem is the iMac doesn't recognize the keyboard at startup either.
I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...

I was trying to figure out how to get my Motorola S805 bluetooth headphones to work in Windows 7, and the difficult part was that Windows 7 doesn't include the necessary A2DP bluetooth profile in the stock bluetooth stack. You're supposed to get it from your bluetooth adapter vendor, which apple doesn't seem to include in the Bootcamp drivers.The solution was to install the Broadcom/Widcomm bluetooth driver version 6.3.0.3800. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been looking into buying an Apple Bluetooth Wireless keyboard (MB167LL/A) for use with my new Macbook. I'm going to be using an external monitor and mouse for more of a desktop setup while I'm at home.
But I wanted to know if the Bluetooth keyboard will still be compatible with my computer when I am running Windows Vista on my mac? I realize that not all of the buttons will be perfect (aka the F keys), much as I'm used to when using my laptop keyboard, but will it work fine for normal tasks and connect correctly?
Obviously there's always a chance that installing software on unsupported hardware may break things, but has anyone out there installed Bootcamp and the wireless keyboard update on a regular old PC? I'm using an Apple bluetooth keyboard in windows 7 and I would like Fn key support.

I installed Windows 7 on iMac 20 inch. All went smoothly and after lot of trail and errors, was able to recognize my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. All well till here. Now the problem is that these two devices keeps disconnecting very very often. For mouse, atleast i can move around and after few clicks, it starts working, but keyboard just doesn't work at all. I have to switch off the keyboard and then switch it back on to get it working for few more minutes. Is there a way I can resolve this? I've installed Bluetooth drivers from bootcamp 2.1 update for vista.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI cannot "see" my Windows partition from the preferences pane in bootcamp (osx) (where I would go to set Windows as a boot partition). The only way I can make Windows to start is by using the Option key at boot.
Strange this is, the partition is visible on my Osx desktop (mounted), I can browse the files etc... but Bootcamp somehow thinks it's gone.
I have Vista/OSX installed on my 8-core Mac Pro (early 2008). When I'm attempting to switch OS by holding alt/option during the loadup, it's no longer detecting the keypress. I have the USB wired Apple keyboard fed through my 24in dell monitor and then connected to a USB spot on the back of my mac. I've noticed that when I plug the keyboard directly into the USB on the front of the Mac, the keypress is detected just fine. The weird part is that the way I have it set up now (with the keyboard connecting through the monitor) used to work without a problem to get to the OS load screen. I recently had to reinstall OSX because of a hard drive failure and ever since, it's not detecting. It's annoying to have to unplug/replug my keyboard, just to boot in windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed windows on my early 2010 MBP, and it's been working perfectly so far, but today when I woke up and had to use windows, nothing seems to happen when I hold down (either) ALT when booting I filmed this with my phone [URL] to help you see what my problem is. I press the power button, it makes that boot sound while I hold ALT down. Then it just shows the mouse without the two harddiscs. I'm completely new to mac, so I don't know if I can fix this easily, or I have to re-install windows (7). Or if it can be fixed with the OS X dvd that came with the MacBook Pro. I have the beta installed on my aluminum MacBook and most things are working okay. I can't get the eject button to work for some reason and I can't get my bluetooth apple keyboard or mighty mouse to connect. Is anyone else having bluetooth issues?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get Windows 7 (under Boot Camp) to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and for some reason it's not working. I first tried it with the drivers that come on the disc, and those didn't work (found the mouse/keyboard but wouldn't work), then I tried the Bluetooth update that Apple released, and that didn't work either. The mouse and keyboard show up in the Bluetooth devices as 'Connected', but neither work.
When I restart the computer the mouse/keyboard work at the login screen, but once I login they stop working. If I boot into Mac OS, and then boot back into Windows, they work fully, but after about 5 minutes they stop working. Why is this happening? Did anyone else have this problem?
I have a MacBook Pro and sometimes run VMWare Fusion / XP so that I can sync some older Nokia phones I have (that only run on PC Suite).However, my older phones don't utilize cables...you can only sync with Bluetooth or IR.I opened up the Control Panel and looked for a "Bluetooth Devices" icon, but couldn't find one.Then I opened up the Nokia "PC Suite" and Connectivity window and it gave me the option of clicking (ie: selecting to turn ON) Bluetooth and IR, but when I did, it said that this function was not available.What am I missing?My MBP obviously has all the Bluetooth and IR whistles, but when running VMWare Fusion / XP, the computer seems to disavow any knowledge that these options/functionalities are installed and working on the Mac side.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my MBP, I have tried both XP and Vista and they work well. I have the Bootcamp 2.1 update installed and no missing hardware/etc. Currently, I'm using Vista64, but XP32 had the same problem.
I pair my Logitech MX900 BT mouse using the BT Control Panel applet and it finds the mouse, pops-up "installing drivers" and everything works well. In the "services" tab for the BT device, it shows a general HID mouse/keyboard.
Would have checked this myself but I haven't gotten around to installing Boot Camp 3.1 yet.
Anyone with a uMBP try to see if Boot Camp 3.1 allows the keyboard light to completely shut off in Windows 7?

I've shied away from wireless keyboards in the past because I do alot of online baking and investment activities from my computer. I also love a clean workspace and a wireless keyboard could remove yet another wire from my desk. Do you consider wireless and/or bluetooth keyboards safe?

As far as I understand there is a bug that stops Windows 7 or Vista from showing up in the Start Up disk options in the preference settings.
So the only option is to go through the boot menu selection but unfortunately I am using the Apple wireless keyboard and holding the option key down doesn't bring up the boot selection screen. Is there anything I can do ... or am I forced to use a USB keyboard for now ?
For the record I have the Wireless Keyboard and Mighty mouse paired and working in Windows 7 ( The keyboard has occasional lag from the first keystroke input but is fine from then ) Its just that I get no response from keystrokes during boot up.
