View 4 Repliesi ve got the parallel 5 on the new imac and loaded windows 7 from bootcamp, however the start time of windows 7 is extremely slow -- takes up to 5 minutes.... and the speed of launching application is not fast as well... sometimes even jammed the imac, ive then given them 4 cores with 4gb of ram (out of 8) and still nothing changes...
View 1 Replies View Relatedam new to the Mac world and just bought the Macbook Pro 13" 2.4GHz. I desperately need to run some Windows applications on the new Mac. Apart from knowing that Bootcamp can only run Windows or Mac at a time and Parallel allows switch between Windows and Mac, can anyone help me to decide which option I should go for please? In particular
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently got parallels, and someone else set it up for me. The guy only put 8gb on it, and i really need more. I don't wanna deal with expanding and stuff because its too much trouble for something that I have nothing on anyway. Im wondering how to delete the image file, and then create a new partition. And also, if creating a new partition needs the windows cd again, because i don't have it anymore
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanna install Windows 7 Ultimate with Parallel Desktop 5, but I have some problems. I don't know if I should install it as x86 or x64 or 32-bit or 64-bit? And also, how many GB ram should I be using for Parallels? I have the basic MBP 13" early 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI do not know if this has been posted before or not...But I found [as have others] that it is a GOOD idea to exclude all of the Parallels .HDD files from a Time Machine Backup. Parallels stores the entire Windows "hard drive" as a single file under OSX, and while this is transparent to the end-user, any time any "windows" file is updated [ie. everytime you do something under Windows], that ENTIRE file is marked as updated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems with my parallel every time I run windows virtual machine all my mac goes really slow I would like to know how to fix this slowliness haha, I don't know if my mac is the one that don't have the power to run both side by side at a descent speed, or maybe some configurations of the virtual machine i could change to make it run faster?? Here are the specs of my macbook.
Model Name:MacBook
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors:1
Total Number Of Cores:2
L2 Cache:4 MB
Memory:1 GB
Bus Speed:800 MHz
This really isn't a bad thing, on my iMac i5 with a the stock configuration configured with 2 cores and 3GB of RAM on Windows 7 Profession 32-bit, my VM boots in 2 seconds; the boot is so fast that it displays the Vista-like scroll instead of the 7 splash screen during boot. Basically I'm curious what's going on here? I'd like to do the same on Mac Pro which takes about a full minute for Windows to load up. The drives on my a Mac Pro about 5x faster than the iMac and I have a 4 processors and 4GB of RAM allocated to Windows... Both are running Parallels 5 for VM and both uses 64GB for the virtual disk.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 now installed, but I also have a my old Windows XP Pro as well. I'm curious if I can look it as well? I'd like to see if i can and to compare running cod5 on it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a MacBook Pro and while I love somethings about it, I miss being able to use some windows functions. What are the problems with adding Windows to it? I have time to return it and go back to a PC but I think if it had the other operating system as well I would love it..seems like a lot of money though to keep it if I am running windows on it..

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo my problem is i installed Parallel Desktop, installed windows 7, 64bit and after i installed Lineage 2 (a game that uses Direct3D) i get an error running the game, were it says i need to enable Direct3D in the DxDiag - but when i run the DxDiag it just tell me that info is not available, so there is nowere i can enable Direct3D :/ I have been googling the issue, but i havent been able to find a solution on how to use/enable Direct3D. However the graphic card i have in my MacBook pro is called Nvidia Geforce GT 330M and does support Direct3D so it must be something that happens because of the mac cross to windows 7 thingy. Also i have been trying to installe the latest drivers from Nvidias website, but i also get an error when i try to install them, saying it cant verufy my hardware - so it must be something about windows not beeing able to detect what kind of graphic card i use cause its on a mac system?? Another thing i notcied was in DxDiag i saw under memory, it only see 1 GB of memory and i have 4 GB available not that it changes anything
My setup:
MacBookPro 2010 model
Core i7 intel processor 2.6 Ghz
4gb memory
Nvidia Geforce GT 330M
I'm running Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac on Mac OSX 10.4.11. For my Mac, I have one administrator account, and two managed user accounts. My son uses one of the managed user accounts to run Parallels. The issue is that I don't want Parallels to be able to access the internet (more specifically, I don't want my son to be able to use Parallels/windows to access the internet). I know I can turn off the internet in Parallels through the Parallels configuration settings, but it can just be turned right back on. There is no password protection to ensure that the settings aren't changed. Or am I missing something? Is there an administrative password that I can enable to prevent tampering with the Parallels configuration settings?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever I install Parallel on my imac, with leopard it installs fine and the windows Xp install fine and load up fine. But my problem is whenever I shut my mac down, and when I have to turn my mac on again and i click on Parallel the windows will not load up, only loads up when the windows has just been installed, i have no idea why it wont load once i shut down and turn on my imac?
I have installed windows like 5 times already and it always works once it just been installed but if i have to restart my mac, or switch it off and turn it on again the windows through Parallel will not load it just says ''Microsoft windows xp stopped'' and doesn't load atol.
Any best way to have windows apps working on my 2012 macbook pro? Is it best to use bootcamp or parallel 7 software?

I wanna know what the best for my macbook used Parallels win 7 64-bit or 32-bit, or dose not have any different between it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI read on a another thread that Parallels has Parallels Bootcamp which allows me to install Parallels using only one Windows license. Would this work also with the OEM version of windows as well? Or is the full version of windows needed too?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo after some hard work I finally got windows installed on my mac. I did so because I needed to run a program called 20-20 design for work. About halfway through the install i got this: Error: Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check) Right before this happens the disc kind of slows down and then completely stops. I googled this error and it says more than likely its a bad cd or dvd? Could this be an issue with my new partitioned hard drive?
View 3 Replies View Related I recently installed 64-bit Vista in a Boot Camp partition. Then Parallels and everything is perfect except...
When I insert a DVD now, Windows automatically takes control of the drive. The only way for me to view the contents of that drive is to shut down Vista in Parallels and then reinsert the disk. Then OS X sees it and fires it up.
Now Ive plugged in other devices like my external drive, and I get a little pop up which asks which system I want to use the device with. Is there a way to get that for DVDs as well?
Would have checked this myself but I haven't gotten around to installing Boot Camp 3.1 yet.
Anyone with a uMBP try to see if Boot Camp 3.1 allows the keyboard light to completely shut off in Windows 7?
I described it more here.
My iMac's time keeps changing everytime it shuts down. Sometime only an hour ahead, but then it was like 21 hours ahead, 1 o'clock Monday.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my Mac Pro wants to shut down all the time. Every 10 mins or so the message, "Do you want to shut down etc. etc." comes up with the usual options of Restart/Sleep//ShutDown or Cancel. I click on cancel and it goes away for 10 mins, sometimes less, sometimes more.
No idea what's causing this at all. I normally keep it turned on all the time but I went away for the weekend so I shut everything down in the office - I know it got pretty cold in there (maybe even freezing) so I'm worried I've done some damage due to the cold?
Nothing has been installed but I have no idea where to check or what to do now. It's my main computer - I use it for work all the time and would be at a loss if I needed to send it away so I'm hoping someone will have heard of this and have a solution
I;ve searched around a lot and all I can see is people having trouble to get their macbook's to shut down - this is the other way around!
Oh, Mac Pro, 4 quad intel, 4gb ram I think and 750gb hard drive. The power is connected to a UPS but that doesn't seem at fault.
Update:
It seems to be only doing it when I'm away for a while - maybe when it's trying to sleep or shut down the hard drive? I did have it set to Never for going to sleep and I have changed that last night so it's not the Sleep side of things. I will try unticking the Put the hard disk to sleep now and see if that makes a difference. I also see the option "Allow power button to sleep the computer" so if the previous attempt doesn't work I'll try that - I suppose that will identify whether it's the power button or not
I am using Mac 0S X Leopard, mac mini and facing the following problem:
1) System is taking too long time(10 - 15 min ) for start up and shut down.
2) It is asking every time to set up the current time as and when the system starts every time.
3) When accesing the system preferences , it gets crashed when using index Spotlight.
4) Finder gets relaunched itself for every 60-90 seconds when accessing folder Applications or Utilities etc..
5) The Spotlight is indexing itself, When i tried to stop the indexing of the spotlight using system preference, it gets crashed.
My system got its logic board replaced by the apple once.
Every time that I unplug my MacBook it immediately shuts off. I have read similar stories but there is no black or red "x" on my battery icon. I have tried to take the battery out and put it back in but it didn't work. The light on the plug in is green and I'm not sure what is wrong.
